[Xfire] Chatteox: Alright everyone. So sorry for the delay. I'd like to welcome you to the *very popular* chat with Entropia Universe. Our guests will introduce themselves and start taking your questions!

·Marco|Mindark: Hello, I am Marco, Community Director for Entropia. Most Entropians know me simply as Marco. ,-)

·alfsvensson: hey Im Alf - chief of the graphics department

·Frank|Mindark: Hi everyone, Frank here from Marketing. Delighted to be hear at the Xfire chat.

·Magnus|Mindark: Hi Im Magnus I'm head of development.

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:29] Sp1k3: Does the CryEngine bring us the promised vehicles that was said to be implented within a year from then? :)
·Yes it will!

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:29] Sp1k3: Does the CryEngine bring us the promised vehicles that was said to be implented within a year from then? :)
The artists are looking forward to modeling wehicles

·Marco|Mindark: [21:32] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:29] thomasandersson: Which features of the CryENGIENE will EU use, except from graphics, im talking about physics, AI and sound which also is included in CryENGIENE2
We will use as many features as possible from the CE2.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:29] helmars: Is it possible that planet Calypso becomes obsolete, when other planets with the same functionality arrives?
·No, the planet Calypso will allways be around and will continue to be filled with new and exciting content.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:34] Gaga: Will there be really several another planets in EU?
Absolutely. This is part of a very concrete plan we have now and we will be seeing space exploration and combat in connection with the big cross over to the CryENGINE.

·Marco|Mindark: [21:34] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:32] Sacred: When space fighting comes possible, will there be new "cheaper" spaceships so that every "normal" player is able to get one?

When space opens up there will be a complete system accompaning it, with real depth and integration into the real cash economy.

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:32] DeadeX: Q: Can you tell us more about the space opening and the "Space Pirating" ?

As more planets will be added to the universe there will be need for travel between them. The space will be untamed and filled with unexpected happenings. The space flight will mean much more than todays blackout. And where you find valuable things you are never alone.

·Frank|Mindark: Da RCAnka Ho: Will there be any IRL-events in Sweden where we (the players) get to meet you guys?

We don't have any planned at the moment, but the community organizes these type of events regularly in Europe and the US. You can probably find more information about this at www.entropiaforum.com. Loads and loads of community info there

·Marco|Mindark: [21:37] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:34] galadea: Will it be possible to build self designed buildings in the future?

That is one long term goal. We will continue to add systems that caters to participant creativity, while maintaining the real cash economy, the integrity of Entropia, and the stability of the market.

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:38] Zorglub: do you think to create customizable armor set ? when ?

We are hoping to leave as much as possible to the participants in the future when it comes to designing things. However, there are a vast number of technical specifications that have to be met. Few people actally have the skills to put together an armor of their own design, that will work flawlessly withing EU, together with other clothingitems.

·Marco|Mindark: 21:39] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:38] Vlooe: Are any improvements planned for the society system?

For Example a "common Chat" for more than on Soc?

Some time after CE2 there will be a complete update to the entire social system in Entropia, including messaging, societies, chats, offline emailing, SMS services, associations and company building. The communication system as such hasn't received much attention for a while so it is in need for these updates.

·Marco|Mindark: [21:42] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:42] 'PawN!*!Den0wnZ™®©: Can it be possible for one player to buy an entire continent in the future? I cannot comment on that at this time... ,-)

·Frank|Mindark: [12:37] rookieeu: Since 'Robot' attacks were central to Calipso's history ...... will you implement them again on a regular basis and not as a 'rare' event You're right. The robots have played a central role in Calypso's history and I would be very surprised if we didn't see them again. Remember they have a base in the Akbal Cimi system. Thats where the usually gather themselves before a major attack. They've been quiet recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were cooking something up.

·Marco|Mindark: [21:43] [Xfire] Chatteox: Demonikos: 1) There is a very important Question about the economy of of EU as it is atm and hope in some further Information if possible : In VU 9.2 ,today, already more L armor parts of Higher Level (like Jaguar ) have been discovered . Does this mean that MA in the future VU might stop the Unlimited Versions of those high-end Armors and let only Limited Parts drop or will both keep dropping?

No, MA sees benefits having both Limited and Unlimited versions av items in Entropia. Both kinds will be avilable in the future as well. MA does not desire to have 100% Limited items.

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:42] ~Pork.: Will we see any new wall paper and floors for apartments anytime soon? or other home fernishings?

Yes, wallpapers and textures for walls, ceilings, perhaps even exteriors shouldn´t be any problem to leave to the participants to upload in the near future. Everyone should have the opportunity to furnish their home according to their own wishes. After all, apartments and alike, are personal areas. Hopefully wallpapers and textures will also be sold on the marquet.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:44] Pirx Danford: How soon can we expect a better introduction for newcomers? I am eager to invite more people.

Great questions. We're aware of the initial complexity and difficulty with landing on Calypso. We've recently benefited from an academic study on entering Entropia and are planning to make changes in connection with the CryENGINE release. That will be the perfect opportunity to make these type of major changes.

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: 12:38] terracognita: Will the graphic demand be simular to crysis, when the new engine is fully in use?

Yes they will, but you will as in Crysis and Entropia today be able to set up your own custom settings that are more suiteble to your computer. We have a set of diffrent requirements than Crysis since we have another focus on the character system and its degree of customization this toghether with the extreme gatherings is a greate challange but we feel confident that we already have come far with the implementation of the client.

·Marco|Mindark: [21:46] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:44] Pant: Factories have been mentioned in the past. Does the CE2 have any impact on them?

Factories and mass production is part of the future of Entropia. It will create a new kind of business opportunity for both the "employer" as well as the factory "employees". One may speculate that ammo production would be very suitable for factories.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:43] Dion Red Strike: QUESTION: Other Than keeping the economy stable, what is the biggest focus of the dev group as of today?
The biggest focus right now, is the adaptation of the CryENGINE. As we mentioned in the VU List, 90% of our programming resources are involved in this now.

·alfsvensson: Xfire] Chatteox: [12:43] njaaack: Q: Will MA add new tamable pets on the new planets?

Yes - our goal is to make ALL creatures tameable. Unfortunately the graphic team are up to their necks in other cool stuff for you guys. Besides- we are, ehrm, not the biggest team in the world and have to concentrate on the bigger tasks at hand. Personally I wouldnt complain about riding into Port Atlantis on my tame Hogglo...

·Marco|Mindark: [21:49] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Jod: When can we expect an announcement and some sort of teaser from the new planet partner?

As soon as the lawyers are ready with the contract. There is much legal stuff to walk though when you are going to build a planet.

·alfsvensson: But sure - ther will be more animals soon to tame

·Marco|Mindark: [21:49] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Uolevikuolevi: Are the decent mentor gifts completely removed from the "pool", as it seems no one is getting them anymore?

I heard a rumor that a new batch of Mentor items was added in today's release...

·Frank|Mindark: [12:48] Psychnosiz: does the possible us recession have any impact on ma since it's $ based ?

Obviously it has a certain impact as we mentioned in one of our recent quarterly reports. However this is quite understandable and normal when using a real cash economy as Entropia does. There are ups and downs. In the long run, things even out.

·Marco|Mindark: 21:53] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Pant: A Player advisery board has been mentioned on EntropiaForum. Does MA have any plans to implement such a thing?

No, not really. We may open up politics within Entropia in the future, where avatars could be elected and stuff, and maybe MindArk would function as a representitive in this. But it way in the future at this point.

·Marco|Mindark: [21:54] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Gaga: What will be the recommended system req for CE2? (on full graphics :) )

Probably the same as the game Crysis.

·alfsvensson: Skyfox20k: Of course..weather systems...will weather systems be implemented when CE is released

Yes this will be one of the new possibilities for the graphic team - to create moods through changing weatherpatterns. One can for example imagine areas where it´s always dark and gloomy, with eternal drizzle and dismal overcast. Kind of like Sweden

·Marco|Mindark: [21:58] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:55] l3irdmann: When you guys first made the game I know you must have had thoughts/visions and many expectations of what it would grow into in the coming years. That being said, Is the Entropia we all know and love grown into what you planed for/envisioned it would be?

A very good question. There is a long term vision for Entropia. It stretches several decades into the future. One goal is to become better than real life, an option to real life as we know it today - in essence making the Entropia participant immortal. As of today, I'd say we maybe have reached 5% on the journey that is Entropia. There are many, many years a head of us.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:52] thomasandersson: Will there be any quests in EU in the future?

At the moment, we're not planning to introduce the types of quests you would be used to from other games. We will see more interactions like the Robot Beacons we have in Entropia today though. A big part of Entropia is about being able to live your own virtual life by combining your own unique mix of skills, abilites etc. We definitely will want to preserve this feeling and not just hand participants a finished script.

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Konve: Do Mindark see changes to current systems as intended nerfs to gain more money, or nessecary changed due to risk of upsetting the market even more if nothing is done?

All changes and improvments are done to make the universe more self sustained and open to both beginners and veterans. We are constantly monitoring the economy and the users to see how the system is used and how the system would work better for all. We earn money on a stable universe with many users with different backgrounds feeling they have a chance of participating and finding fields of experties. All parameters will never be predictible and that is a great engine of a real economy.

·Marco|Mindark: [22:01] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:55] phaythe: Q: Is thre any possibility that the new engine is being coded in a modular structure so that the older client may still be able to connect to maximize the number of people with hardware capable of playing the game? As someone looking forward to utilizing the game as a business venture, losing a mass number of potential "clients" due to the engine being upgraded is a major concern...

Probably not, the CE2 is a new system and we don't see the need to put valuable resources into mainting the obsolete client. For us it would be better to make sure the CE2-Entropia client is customizable enough to allow people with less powerful computer to take part anyway.

·Frank|Mindark: [12:55] treedoctor: Were can we purchaze Official Mindark Items like Statues, Tchirts and more ?

Yes, we've seen a renewed interest in Entropia merchadise recently and have plans to introduce some basic items to begin with this year. We've been using small figurines of Calypso wildlife at exhibitions around the world and they've proven very popular.

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Dion Red Strike: QUESTION: What is/was the hardest part of upgrading to the new graphics engine?

So far Im not sure we´ve gotten to the really hard part. The tools are excellent and we are learning what we can do with them. I think the difficulties will be on the programmers side, to get our avatars to work in the new engine. One has to remember that there is a huge difference between creating a character for a game like Crysis and creating an avatar for Entropia. We have to deal with all kind of customization for the participants´ choices. The most interesting aspect I think will be creating Alien environments with the engine. So far Ive mostly seen earth-like green forests and sunny beaches. It will be really cool to walk through more sci-fi-like environments.

·Marco|Mindark: [13:02] 'PawN!*!Den0wnZ™®©: When is Entropia expected to go public?

Mindark expects to go public later this year. Any additional information about this will be presented when available.

·alfsvensson: Xfire] Chatteox: [13:02] Demonikos: QUESTION The last months i've read about the MA plans and moves for the promotion of EU, in Brasil and China ... Is there any plan in the close future, that is aiming in other Countries with big MMORPG market like Japan , Russia etc?

·Marco|Mindark: [22:03] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:02] Black Hawk Hawk: Trying to figure out the loot system in public (forums or open discution boards) is against EULA?

Not at all. =) Mindark staff actually often check such topics and are intrigued by all the theories that floats around. =)

·[22:06] alfsvensson: weARE IMPLEMENTING CHOPSTICKS AND FUR-HATS AS WE SPEAK

·Marco|Mindark: [22:06] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:06] Soldat Somme: Has Mindark got any other future plans other then Entropia Universe?

Mindark will work on developing the Entropia Universe platform. That is our vision and business. There are no plans for us to pursue anything else.

·[22:09] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] daikiba: Will there be small transport items like hoverboards and jetpacks available?

This is a intressting question, I think we got something about decreasing the weight earlier. We want to build a universe with constraints and needs as real life, not all but some. We think that needs creates oportunities and that is an important part of an economy. We will not supply the sollution for overweight, You wil!. We will just supply the "economical blueprints" for hoverboards, antigravity equipment, veiachles or mounts.

·[22:10] Frank|Mindark: [13:01] Road Runner Lightning: will MA introduce big companies in game for advertising etc.?

Yes, we are interested in cooperation with large companies around the world. Not only from the advertising aspect but also for the expertise they can bring to the table. This expertise can help us in the introduction of new systems, like vehicles for example. This would allow us to deliver a quality entertainment experience to our users, which at the end of the day is what entropia is about.

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: Psychnosiz: will there ever be a tp chip that will enable flying

I hope so... would be cool. Makes for interesting fights in the pvp-zones :)

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:04] Zarki: Does Mindark make there salary by taking small amouts from every users accounts ?

No we earn money on your activity. We aim to to earn an average of one dollar per hour and user based on all users.

·Frank|Mindark: [13:11] Konve: Is it possible that pets would work as a "storage on legs" - allowing for longer hunting/mining runs?

It would certainly be a logical development, but I can't promise anything right now. They are already useful now though. I once read about somebody using them as shields in PvP:)

·[22:14] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:08] Black Hawk Hawk: Can we look older in future?

There is actually morphtargets in the chardef-system that allows for an older look, and some textures have more wrinkles than others. So if you try hard you can have a senior look. if we are going to introduce even more range for the aging... im not sure. Very few people actually choose to have fat or old avatars, so its hardly worth the effort.

·Magnus|Mindark: [13:11] galadea: Do you have plans to implement branded items like nike shoes that make you run faster?

Yes we have several disscussions ongoing as we speak.

·Frank|Mindark: [13:11] outman1: Besides planets does MA plan to release any new big ticket things, like clubs, malls, banks, ect.?

There will always be new opportunites that arrive as the universe develops.

·[22:15] Marco|Mindark: [22:09] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:09] melocybe: How does MA see itself in the MMO world?

As pioneers in a new and exciting field. We see ourselves as the creators of a virtual universe platform that handles a real cash economy with safety, balancing and monitoring capabilities. The platform will be state of the art and use cutting edge technology (like CE2) in its representation of the next generation of Internet - the 3d-Internet. There are a lot of spectics and people who would doom us and our unique business model, but we have proven it and will continue to improve the system. Right now we feel we get a lot of respect from our peers and from other businesses around the world, which is a great feeling after so many years of hard work.

·Marco|Mindark: [22:15] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:15] renwotanhoek: Do Mindark visit this year again the Games Convention in Leipzig ?

With a very high certanty, yes, we will be there.

·Frank|Mindark: [13:14] loserkid83: Will gambeling ever be a part of Entropia, or are there to many legal issues associated with it
It will never be a part of Entropia.

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:14] Soldat Somme: Will cryEnginge support directx 10 graphics?
yes

·alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] product2378: s there any chance of any info as to any of the new planets or any sneaky peak pictures of developments you can post on the website :)

yes we will post some nice pictures for you as sson as we have something that is representative. Actually the first environments for the new engine will be created very soon.

·[22:21] Frank|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:18] melocybe: Can we expect more interaction between societies? More interaction within societies, like having a soc inventory, soc real-estate, maybe even item manufacturing plants that require members of a soc to work together?

·[22:21] Frank|Mindark: Yes, we have the land grab going on right now

Frank|Mindark: one of the most exciting society events in entropia.

·Frank|Mindark: [13:18] POLE 'The NBK': Did you expect so many questions in the Xfire chatroom ?

We weren't quite sure what to expect to begin with, but when we saw the "Chatter Room" filling up in the beginning we knew something was about to happen:)

·Frank|Mindark: [13:19] twitchie9: Will there be anymore VU's before the major CryEngine VU?
Yes. Several.

·Marco|Mindark: [22:25] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] galadea: Eu started as a very idealistic project. Do you still feel the enthusiasm of teh first years or is it slowing down because of the bigger responsibility

Yes, very much so. Much of it originates from the fact that Entropia is in constant and quick evolution, if you compare Entropia today with Entropia one year ago, two years ago, etc, you will see enorumous changes to it. Entropia will always be in motion and will never be "finished".

·Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:11] Lamhir: - BANKING QUESTION: With recent banning of banks in Second Life (all institution which provide constant rate of interests = garantueed profit) which arent regulated by real world regulations, do you see any problems upcomping with Entropia banks?!

That is the thing with Entropia. If we create a system it is based on basic economic facts and rules. You cannot create things from nothing and do not doubt there is no such thing as garantueed profit, you have to put in effort, time, money, knowledge or value of some kind. If you think about it that is what the real life regulations are there for. You just have to be careful and look close and you will find the oportunities in the safe and secure environment. Nobody profits in the long run from anarchy. We see no problem with banks infact why would they not work, there is a need for them.

·Marco|Mindark: [22:27] [Xfire] Chatteox: 13:16] Black Hawk Hawk: Will cash cards be available any time soon?

We are pursuing the best and safest partner possible, in order to have a long term safe system in place. Several potential partners were screened during 2007 but we decided not to use them. The delays are unfortunate, but we must have a secure and safe system that will last for a very long time in the future. I believe there will be some interesting development as to this in a couple of weeks time.

·alfsvensson: knabo: Will we be seeing more "interesting" landmarks like caves and such

yes certainly, but dont expect everything at once... we will start with a small world and expand it like the old continents. Once our partners start creating their own planets we can exppect everything from caves and dungeons, to underwater-environments and airless moons. We will eventually have a virtual universe with hundreds of different worlds to visit, a vast galaxy...

·[22:32] alfsvensson: Alf says goodnight and see you on Calypso tomorrow! Good hunting!

·Magnus|Mindark: Xfire] Chatteox: [13:16] ardorj: Some of the bugs must have given you a good laugh. Can you name one of which you say "that was funny"

Its an old one but it is still the funniest one, this was back in 2003 or 2004. Suddenly one day the server just went down and they would not get up again. Everytime we tried to restart them they just crashed. After a while one of the programmers came up to me and said. We have found the problem! Yes what is? I asked eagrly. User X has picked up the entire terrain in his inventory and he has just logged out. We have to fix the problem or wait until he loggs in again... =) Now that is something we warn our new programmers about even today....

·[22:34] Marco|Mindark: Lol - the world in the backpack issue. I remember that. =)

·[22:34] Frank|Mindark: Thanks very much everybody. As alf said - see you on Calypso!

·[Xfire] Chatteox: Alright everyone thank you for participating in the Entropia Universe Live Chat. We apologize again for the unforeseen technical difficulties. But now I'll give out the prizes!

·[22:35] Marco|Mindark: Thanks a lot everyone, there were like a million more questions, but this was what we had time for. Good night everyone!

[22:46] Marco|Mindark: [21:43] [Xfire] Chatteox: Demonikos: 1) There is a very important Question about the economy of of EU as it is atm and hope in some further Information if possible : In VU 9.2 ,today, already more L armor parts of Higher Level (like Jaguar ) have been discovered .

[22:46] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:42] ~Pork.: Will we see any new wall paper and floors for apartments anytime soon? or other home fernishings?
Yes, wallpapers and textures for walls, ceilings, perhaps even exteriors shouldn´t be any problem to leave to the participants to upload in the near future. Everyone should have the opportunity to furnish their home according to their own wishes. After all, apartments and alike, are personal areas. Hopefully wallpapers and textures will also be sold on the marquet.

[22:48] Frank|Mindark: [12:44] Pirx Danford: How soon can we expect a better introduction for newcomers? I am eager to invite more people.
Great questions. We're aware of the initial complexity and difficulty with landing on Calypso. We've recently benefited from an academic study on entering Entropia and are planning to make changes in connection with the CryENGINE release. That will be the perfect opportunity to make these type of major changes.

[22:48] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: 12:38] terracognita: Will the graphic demand be simular to crysis, when the new engine is fully in use?
Yes they will, but you will as in Crysis and Entropia today be able to set up your own custom settings that are more suiteble to your computer. We have a set of diffrent requirements than Crysis since we have another focus on the character system and its degree of customization this toghether with the extreme gatherings is a greate challange but we feel confident that we already have come far with the implementation of the client.

[22:48] Marco|Mindark: [21:46] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:44] Pant: Factories have been mentioned in the past. Does the CE2 have any impact on them?

Factories and mass production is part of the future of Entropia. It will create a new kind of business opportunity for both the "employer" as well as the factory "employees". One may speculate that ammo production would be very suitable for factories.

[22:50] Frank|Mindark: [12:43] Dion Red Strike: QUESTION: Other Than keeping the economy stable, what is the biggest focus of the dev group as of today?
The biggest focus right now, is the adaptation of the CryENGINE. As we mentioned in the VU List, 90% of our programming resources are involved in this now.

[22:50] alfsvensson: Xfire] Chatteox: [12:43] njaaack: Q: Will MA add new tamable pets on the new planets?
Yes - our goal is to make ALL creatures tameable. Unfortunately the graphic team are up to their necks in other cool stuff for you guys. Besides- we are, ehrm, not the biggest team in the world and have to concentrate on the bigger tasks at hand. Personally I wouldnt complain about riding into Port Atlantis on my tame Hogglo...

[22:50] Marco|Mindark: [21:49] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Jod: When can we expect an announcement and some sort of teaser from the new planet partner?

As soon as the lawyers are ready with the contract. There is much legal stuff to walk though when you are going to build a planet.

[22:52] Marco|Mindark: [21:49] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Uolevikuolevi: Are the decent mentor gifts completely removed from the "pool", as it
seems no one is getting them anymore?

I heard a rumor that a new batch of Mentor items was added in today's release...

[22:55] Frank|Mindark: [12:48] Psychnosiz: does the possible us recession have any impact on ma since it's $ based ?
Obviously it has a certain impact as we mentioned in one of our recent quarterly reports. However this is quite understandable and normal when using a real cash economy as Entropia does. There are ups and downs. In the long run, things even out.

[22:55] Marco|Mindark: 21:53] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Pant: A Player advisery board has been mentioned on EntropiaForum. Does MA have any plans to implement such a thing?

No, not really. We may open up politics within Entropia in the future, where avatars could be elected and stuff, and maybe MindArk would function as a representitive in this. But it way in the future at this point.

[22:57] Marco|Mindark: [21:54] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Gaga: What will be the recommended system req for CE2? (on full graphics :) )

Probably the same as the game Crysis.

[22:57] alfsvensson:
Skyfox20k: Of course..weather systems...will weather systems be implemented when CE is released
Yes this will be one of the new possibilities for the graphic team - to create moods through changing weatherpatterns. One can for example imagine areas where it´s always dark and gloomy, with eternal drizzle and dismal overcast. Kind of like sweden

[23:00] Marco|Mindark: [21:58] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:55] l3irdmann: When you guys first made the game I know you must have had thoughts/visions and many expectations of what it would grow into in the coming years.

[23:01] Frank|Mindark: [12:52] thomasandersson: Will there be any quests in EU in the future?
At the moment, we're not planning to introduce the types of quests you would be used to from other games. We will see more interactions like the Robot Beacons we have in Entropia today though. A big part of Entropia is about being able to live your own virtual life by combining your own unique mix of skills, abilites etc. We definitely will want to preserve this feeling and not just hand participants a finished script.

[23:01] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Konve: Do Mindark see changes to current systems as intended nerfs to gain more money, or nessecary changed due to risk of upsetting the market even more if nothing is done?
All changes and improvments are done to make the universe more self sustained and open to both beginners and veterans. We are constantly monitoring the economy and the users to see how the system is used and how the system would work better for all. We earn money on a stable universe with many users with different backgrounds feeling they have a chance of participating and finding fields of experties. All parameters will never be predictible and that is a great engine of a real economy.

[23:04] Marco|Mindark: [22:01] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:55] phaythe: Q: Is thre any possibility that the new engine is being coded in a modular structure so that the older client may still be able to connect to maximize the number of people with hardware capable of playing the game? As someone looking forward to utilizing the game as a business venture, losing a mass number of potential "clients" due to the engine being upgraded is a major concern...

Probably not, the CE2 is a new system and we don't see the need to put valuable resources into mainting the obsolete client. For us it would be better to make sure the CE2-Entropia client is customizable enough to allow people with less powerful computer to take part anyway.

[23:04] Frank|Mindark: [12:55] treedoctor: Were can we purchaze Official Mindark Items like Statues, Tchirts and more ?
Yes, we've seen a renewed interest in Entropia merchadise recently and have plans to introduce some basic items to begin with this year. We've been using small figurines of Calypso wildlife at exhibitions around the world and they've proven very popular.

[23:05] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] Dion Red Strike: QUESTION: What is/was the hardest part of upgrading to the new graphics engine?

[23:05] Marco|Mindark: [13:02] 'PawN!*!Den0wnZ™®©: When is Entropia expected to go public?

Mindark expects to go public later this year. Any additional information about this will be presented when available.

[23:07] Marco|Mindark: [22:03] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:02] Black Hawk Hawk: Trying to figure out the loot system in public (forums or open discution boards) is against EULA?

Not at all. =) Mindark staff actually often check such topics and are intrigued by all the theories that floats around. =)

[23:07] alfsvensson: weARE IMPLEMENTING CHOPSTICKS AND FUR-HATS AS WE SPEAK

[23:08] Marco|Mindark: [22:06] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:06] Soldat Somme: Has Mindark got any other future plans other then Entropia Universe?

Mindark will work on developing the Entropia Universe platform. That is our vision and business. There are no plans for us to pursue anything else.

[23:09] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:53] daikiba: Will there be small transport items like hoverboards and jetpacks available?

This is a intressting question, I think we got something about decreasing the weight earlier. We want to build a universe with constraints and needs as real life, not all but some. We think that needs creates oportunities and that is an important part of an economy. We will not supply the sollution for overweight, You wil!. We will just supply the "economical blueprints" for hoverboards, antigravity equipment, veiachles or mounts.

[23:10] Frank|Mindark: [13:01] Road Runner Lightning: will MA introduce big companies in game for advertising etc.?
Yes, we are interested in cooperation with large companies around the world. Not only from the advertising aspect but also for the expertise they can bring to the table. This expertise can help us in the introduction of new systems, like vehicles for example. This would allow us to deliver a quality entertainment experience to our users, which at the end of the day is what entropia is about.

[23:10] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: Psychnosiz: will there ever be a tp chip that will enable flying
I hope so... would be cool. Makes for interesting fights in the pvp-zones :)

[23:11] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:04] Zarki: Does Mindark make there salary by taking small amouts from every users accounts ?

No we earn money on your activity. We aim to to earn an average of one dollar per hour and user based on all users.

[23:14] Frank|Mindark: [13:11] Konve: Is it possible that pets would work as a "storage on legs" - allowing for longer hunting/mining runs?
It would certainly be a logical development, but I can't promise anything right now. They are already useful now though. I once read about somebody using them as shields in PvP:)

[23:14] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:08] Black Hawk Hawk: Can we look older in future?
There is actually morphtargets in the chardef-system that allows for an older look, and some textures have more wrinkles than others. So if you try hard you can have a senior look. if we are going to introduce even more range for the aging... im not sure. Very few people actually choose to have fat or old avatars, so its hardly worth the effort.

[23:15] Magnus|Mindark: [13:11] galadea: Do you have plans to implement branded items like nike shoes that make you run faster?

Yes we have several disscussions ongoing as we speak.

[23:15] Frank|Mindark: [13:11] outman1: Besides planets does MA plan to release any new big ticket things, like clubs, malls, banks, ect.?
There will always be new opportunites that arrive as the universe develops.

[23:15] Marco|Mindark: [22:09] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:09] melocybe: How does MA see itself in the MMO world?

As pioneers in a new and exciting field. We see ourselves as the creators of a virtual universe platform that handles a real cash economy with safety, balancing and monitoring capabilities. The platform will be state of the art and use cutting edge technology (like CE2) in its representation of the next generation of Internet - the 3d-Internet. There are a lot of spectics and people who would doom us and our unique business model, but we have proven it and will continue to improve the system. Right now we feel we get a lot of respect from our peers and from other businesses around the world, which is a great feeling after so many years of hard work.

[23:17] Marco|Mindark: [22:15] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:15] renwotanhoek: Do Mindark visit this year again the Games Convention in Leipzig ?

With a very high certanty, yes, we will be there.

[23:17] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:14] Soldat Somme: Will cryEnginge support directx 10 graphics?
[23:17] alfsvensson: yes

[23:21] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] product2378: s there any chance of any info as to any of the new planets or any sneaky peak pictures of developments you can post on the website :)
yes we will post some nice pictures for you as sson as we have something that is representative. Actually the first environments for the new engine will be created very soon.

[23:21] Frank|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:18] melocybe: Can we expect more interaction between societies? More interaction within societies, like having a soc inventory, soc real-estate, maybe even item manufacturing plants that require members of a soc to work together?
[23:21] Frank|Mindark: Yes, we have the land grab going on right now
[23:22] Frank|Mindark: one of the most exciting society events in entropia.

[23:25] Frank|Mindark: [13:18] POLE 'The NBK': Did you expect so many questions in the Xfire chatroom ?
We weren't quite sure what to expect to begin with, but when we saw the "Chatter Room" filling up in the beginning we knew something was about to happen:)

[23:26] Frank|Mindark: [13:19] twitchie9: Will there be anymore VU's before the major CryEngine VU?
Yes. Several

[23:27] Marco|Mindark: [22:25] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] galadea: Eu started as a very idealistic project.

[23:27] Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:11] Lamhir: - BANKING QUESTION: With recent banning of banks in Second Life (all institution which provide constant rate of interests = garantueed profit) which arent regulated by real world regulations, do you see any problems upcomping with Entropia banks?!

[23:31] Marco|Mindark: [22:27] [Xfire] Chatteox: 13:16] Black Hawk Hawk: Will cash cards be available any time soon?

We are pursuing the best and safest partner possible, in order to have a long term safe system in place. Several potential partners were screened during 2007 but we decided not to use them. The delays are unfortunate, but we must have a secure and safe system that will last for a very long time in the future. I believe there will be some interesting development as to this in a couple of weeks time.

[23:31] alfsvensson:

knabo: Will we be seeing more "interesting" landmarks like caves and such
yes certainly, but dont expect everything at once... we will start with a small world and expand it like the old continents. Once our partners start creating their own planets we can exppect everything from caves and dungeons, to underwater-environments and airless moons. We will eventually have a virtual universe with hundreds of different worlds to visit, a vast galaxy...

[23:32] alfsvensson: Alf says goodnight and see you on Calypso tomorrow! Good hunting!

[23:33] Magnus|Mindark: Xfire] Chatteox: [13:16] ardorj: Some of the bugs must have given you a good laugh.

[23:34] Marco|Mindark: Lol - the world in the backpack issue. I remember that. =)

[23:34] Frank|Mindark: Thanks very much everybody. As alf said - see you on Calypso!

[23:35] [Xfire] Chatteox: Alright everyone thank you for participating in the Entropia Universe Live Chat. We apologize again for the unforeseen technical difficulties. But now I'll give out the prizes!

[23:35] Marco|Mindark: Thanks a lot everyone, there were like a million more questions, but this was what we had time for. Good night everyone!

Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:04] Zarki: Does Mindark make there salary by taking small amouts from every users accounts ?

No we earn money on your activity. We aim to to earn an average of one dollar per hour and user based on all users.

Frank|Mindark: [13:11] Konve: Is it possible that pets would work as a "storage on legs" - allowing for longer hunting/mining runs?
It would certainly be a logical development, but I can't promise anything right now. They are already useful now though. I once read about somebody using them as shields in PvP:)

alfsvensson:[Xfire] Chatteox: [13:08] Black Hawk Hawk: Can we look older in future?
There is actually morphtargets in the chardef-system that allows for an older look, and some textures have more wrinkles than others. So if you try hard you can have a senior look. if we are going to introduce even more range for the aging... im not sure. Very few people actually choose to have fat or old avatars, so its hardly worth the effort.

Magnus|Mindark: [13:11] galadea: Do you have plans to implement branded items like nike shoes that make you run faster?

Yes we have several disscussions ongoing as we speak.

Frank|Mindark
: [13:11] outman1: Besides planets does MA plan to release any new big ticket things, like clubs, malls, banks, ect.?
There will always be new opportunites that arrive as the universe develops.

Marco|Mindark: [22:09] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:09] melocybe: How does MA see itself in the MMO world?

As pioneers in a new and exciting field. We see ourselves as the creators of a virtual universe platform that handles a real cash economy with safety, balancing and monitoring capabilities. The platform will be state of the art and use cutting edge technology (like CE2) in its representation of the next generation of Internet - the 3d-Internet. There are a lot of spectics and people who would doom us and our unique business model, but we have proven it and will continue to improve the system. Right now we feel we get a lot of respect from our peers and from other businesses around the world, which is a great feeling after so many years of hard work.

Marco|Mindark: [22:15] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:15] renwotanhoek: Do Mindark visit this year again the Games Convention in Leipzig ?

With a very high certanty, yes, we will be there.
Frank|Mindark: [13:14] loserkid83: Will gambeling ever be a part of Entropia, or are there to many legal issues associated with it
It will never be a part of Entropia.

alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:14] Soldat Somme: Will cryEnginge support directx 10 graphics? Yes

alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] product2378: s there any chance of any info as to any of the new planets or any sneaky peak pictures of developments you can post on the website :)
yes we will post some nice pictures for you as sson as we have something that is representative. Actually the first environments for the new engine will be created very soon.

Frank|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:18] melocybe: Can we expect more interaction between societies? More interaction within societies, like having a soc inventory, soc real-estate, maybe even item manufacturing plants that require members of a soc to work together?
Yes, we have the land grab going on right now, one of the most exciting society events in entropia.

Frank|Mindark: [13:18] POLE 'The NBK': Did you expect so many questions in the Xfire chatroom ?
We weren't quite sure what to expect to begin with, but when we saw the "Chatter Room" filling up in the beginning we knew something was about to happen:)

Frank|Mindark: [13:19] twitchie9: Will there be anymore VU's before the major CryEngine VU?
Yes. Several.

Marco|Mindark: [22:25] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:19] galadea: Eu started as a very idealistic project.

Magnus|Mindark: [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:11] Lamhir: - BANKING QUESTION: With recent banning of banks in Second Life (all institution which provide constant rate of interests = garantueed profit) which arent regulated by real world regulations, do you see any problems upcomping with Entropia banks?!

Marco|Mindark: [22:27] [Xfire] Chatteox: 13:16] Black Hawk Hawk: Will cash cards be available any time soon?

We are pursuing the best and safest partner possible, in order to have a long term safe system in place. Several potential partners were screened during 2007 but we decided not to use them. The delays are unfortunate, but we must have a secure and safe system that will last for a very long time in the future. I believe there will be some interesting development as to this in a couple of weeks time.

Magnus|Mindark: Xfire] Chatteox: [13:16] ardorj: Some of the bugs must have given you a good laugh.

:yay: This was the end.

Feel free to post :D

Wow that was quick lol.

Marco|Mindark: [21:49] [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:48] Uolevikuolevi: Are the decent mentor gifts completely removed from the "pool", as it
seems no one is getting them anymore?

I heard a rumor that a new batch of Mentor items was added in today's release...

:yay: Anyone need a mentor?

cool thanks althou i missed it this is a small bandage ... maybe even one of those with cute animals on...

To be honest the whole thing was a waste of time.

First, the event was an hour late to start. Imagine going along to an event IRL and having a delay that long.

Second: Once it did get underway, the request to not spam your questions was totally ignored and consequently, because of the speed that the questions were disappearing off the page, it was a waste of time trying to read them. The spamming didn't seem to be policed so this part of exercise was pathetic.

The questions that were picked to be answered, by the Xfire people for the Mindark people to answer, were the soft questions. No hard to answer questions were picked that I think a lot of EU players would like answers to.

This was a PR job between Xfire and Mindark. What could have been a great, informative and dynamic event ended up being a soft, wishy washy farce!

Well as it's always been :p

Here is something interesting ... do they count all the inactive/banned/dead accounts as well? Might explain the diminishing rate of return over the years :)

Marco|Mindark: [22:03] [Xfire] Chatteox: [13:02] Black Hawk Hawk: Trying to figure out the loot system in public (forums or open discution boards) is against EULA?

Not at all. =) Mindark staff actually often check such topics and are intrigued by all the theories that floats around. =)

*chuckles*

A good answer, yet did not answer the question entirely ;)

PS. I have seen the Next Generation of Vehicles being modelled ... :D

[22:41] alfsvensson: [Xfire] Chatteox: [12:38] Zorglub: do you think to create customizable armor set ? when ?
We are hoping to leave as much as possible to the participants in the future when it comes to designing things. However, there are a vast number of technical specifications that have to be met. Few people actally have the skills to put together an armor of their own design, that will work flawlessly withing EU, together with other clothingitems.

I'll bite my tongue.

Here's a random summary of what I thought was important. Was going to put it into the previous thread about this, but what the hell :

There will be vehicles. The space pirates and space exporation will be different to normal space flight, with more interactivity, "will be untamed and filled with unexpected happenings". They also suggest something to do with a Robot planet, and attacks stemming from there. More wallpapers and apartment customisation is coming, as well as a new and advanced soc system. Both L and UL items will always be ingame, being in balance, not looking for L to overshadow UL. Mentions of 'factories' mass-producing things like Ammo as a business. More creatures, if not all, are going to be made tameable. New mentor items. There will be different weather. There won't be 'quests', except from beacon missions. There probably won't be a 'legacy-client' for people with not very good hardware, though CE2 will be customisable for lower system requirements. Lot's of nice 'alien' landscapes coming out with CE2 (hopefully). A lot of talk, if perhaps quite vague, of participants customising stuff - eg. creating armor, and "We will just supply the "economical blueprints" for hoverboards, antigravity equipment, veiachles or mounts.". MA reveal that they get about 1$ an hour on average from every user - "No we earn money on your activity. We aim to to earn an average of one dollar per hour and user based on all users.". Branded items, in this case Nike shoes that make you run faster, are being considered. Cash Cards are going to appear in future.

Thanks cause i didn't got all of it ... X-fire crashed :D

*waits for Alice to get excited about new mentor gifts*

Was it just me or did he say they earnt $1 an hour rather than it costs us $1 an hour to play???

Thanks MA & Xfire for the Chat and the mining kit prize :).

Thanks for posting.

So does anybody know what was in the prize kits?

*waits for Alice to get excited about new mentor gifts*

Was it just me or did he say they earnt $1 an hour rather than it costs us $1 an hour to play???

Yep I found that interesting, definately a change from what they said previously.

They earn 1$ an hour.

Oh .. BTW i was rofling with this answer in my Question  :eyecrazy: HAHAHA

·[22:06] alfsvensson: weARE IMPLEMENTING CHOPSTICKS AND FUR-HATS AS WE SPEAK

That was funny :D

Was it just me or did he say they earnt $1 an hour rather than it costs us $1 an hour to play???

What´s the difference between those two phrases? :scratch2:

Too bad this one did not get asked for those of us looking at making substancially large investments ... Post # 113 in original chat thread

I do admit however if they were going to implement Root-Kits, it would be a quick pullout by myself and partners due to the risk imposed by such implementations.

PS. People say Gold-Card security system  Keylogger app uploaded and running unexpectedly upon the 6th digit of the one-time code initiates a Entropia Universe session process termination. Whola hacker has not only your login user name and password, but a free to use, un-used one-time code onhand ... Just one example.

Of course a tip MA should add to their *Keeping your gold-card system secure* section would be to leave the card in the card reader until the client has granted you access to the universe (Hence you will be sure that the one time code you have entered has been used up and is marked off the list MA side)

Alf Svensson has a tame Hogglo?

[22:57] alfsvensson:
Skyfox20k: Of course..weather systems...will weather systems be implemented when CE is released
Yes this will be one of the new possibilities for the graphic team - to create moods through changing weatherpatterns. One can for example imagine areas where it´s always dark and gloomy, with eternal drizzle and dismal overcast. Kind of like sweden

Lol thats...yeah...thats true >_<

[23:10] Frank|Mindark: [13:01] Road Runner Lightning: will MA introduce big companies in game for advertising etc.?
Yes, we are interested in cooperation with large companies around the world. Not only from the advertising aspect but also for the expertise they can bring to the table. This expertise can help us in the introduction of new systems, like vehicles for example. This would allow us to deliver a quality entertainment experience to our users, which at the end of the day is what entropia is about.

So... anyone, "New crafter skill: Assemble IKEA furniture."?

[23:15] Magnus|Mindark: [13:11] galadea: Do you have plans to implement branded items like nike shoes that make you run faster?
Yes we have several disscussions ongoing as we speak.

Nike ftw

[23:26] Frank|Mindark: [13:19] twitchie9: Will there be anymore VU's before the major CryEngine VU?
Yes. Several

Woho new content :D

[23:31] alfsvensson:
knabo: Will we be seeing more "interesting" landmarks like caves and such
yes certainly, but dont expect everything at once... we will start with a small world and expand it like the old continents. Once our partners start creating their own planets we can exppect everything from caves and dungeons, to underwater-environments and airless moons. We will eventually have a virtual universe with hundreds of different worlds to visit, a vast galaxy...

Hundreds of worlds = thousands of more tp's to collect?
