Do MindArk handle events very well?

Disclaimer #3: negrep me ... I don't freaking care.. I've really been considering making this post now for some days - and I'm very furious, feeling buttfucked, insulted and stepped on my toes constantly - by MindArk.

The MindArk events like the recent Robot Wars and now Merry Mayhem left me with this really bad taste in my mouth.. :mad:

My History vs so called "ubers"
I'm not a newbie anymore, still n00b in many aspects and my skills reflect that I'm getting skills but working on a daily 8-16 shift I make money to deposit maybe $500 max per month - so I gotta consider and reconsider daily what to hunt, what drops markup items and how do I get the pennies to last the longest...

I got no Supremecy, I got no modified fap, I got no modified Mercenary or Foeripper and I got no pregold items that are worth using for hunting, nor am I that lucky I skilled robots with mod fap auto clicking in the game's young period and got myself to 130'ish agility and got "free tickets" to wealth, fortune and happiness in game.

I'm not blessed with an Shadow armor bought in 2003 for TT+1.000 ped, nor did I ever get lucky enough to loot an POE armor, nor did I buy the modified fap I was offered once at TT+20k, or Imp fap at TT+10k, or ... and U can continue this...

Is it even possible for anyone non pre-gold to win?
I personally think (along with 99% of the rest of the playerbase) that MindArk is rigging the loot, letting the pregold 130ish agility persons participate in the Merry Mayhem and its 110% sure that these persons will win the Category 4 top 3:
Patrick Stormer Deluxe
Jenna Star Mercury
Yoda (if he takes part)

Basically we all know who will be taking the top 10 list, its just a question of how these will be distributed...

The three person's is some of the persons I truely drewl at their gear, Yoda for being as extreme high skilled as he is - Stormer for being the personality he is... And Jenna - well cant really say anything much positive here.

As for me... I wouldn't even have a chance at 218 HP, 256k skills with my I2870 and other gear...

I personally worked my ASS off to get these skills, took a loan to get the I2870, didn't really chip very much that affects the 256k points...

Why even have the category 4 in Mayhem?
Once again, it proves that MindArk apparently drops items to pre-gold avatars, or kiss ass to the extremely high depositors in game - why dont U just give extremely high depositors 3.5% creditcard fee as an extra bonus on top - and stop kissing ass to them instead of making these phony events?

Oh well why am I that mad?
During robot wars I looted:
32 x Exceptional Robot Optical Lenses
8 x Exceptional Robot Hyper Charges
0 x Exceptional Robot Contraction Unit

I hunted bots for 16 hours on average for 17 days, watching one after another dropping to *so called ubers*, extreme high depositors and resellers. I watched them bully other players on a regular basis... :eek:

I didn't expect to loot an Contraction unit, however - I would say I did my very best to get my hands on it... And basically none lower skilled players than me got their hands on it, if it happened it might have been 1-3 of the 15 parts.. the rest went to - previously mentioned playerbase of pregold or high depositors with Modified Fap, Supremecy, Mod Merc / Foe Ripper.

So....

I heard - that previous winner of an event stated that he/she was sure he/she won, but not what he/she won. So it was just a matter of fine calculation.

MindArk - if U ever have these events again, would U please blacklist previous winners from the maybe last 10 events from participating - and/or require (L) items to be used during all of the event...

I'm absolutely not the only one that feels this emotional about this, and feels you - once again - run over and stabbed in the back by MindArk.

The rich guys with the good gear gets richer :mad:, and the poor guys with the poor gear - gets poorer... Fact of IRL life, and I guess this is how it is in EU as well... It would really be a wonderful world if MA would just let average joe at least have a chance...

Tom,

1. This is a business to make money for MA
2. There is a heirarchy in EU - it is maintained. Learn your place in it :rolleyes:
3. Moving up costs a LOT of money
4. Always wanting something other than you have will make you miserable - learn to live with it ;)

Take the 'L' out of 'Play'...

I feel for ya Buzz, I also hunted like a madman doing similar hours to you on the bots.

I look at it like this: If it weren't for the PotE I wouldn't have spent anywhere near as much time hunting and wouldn't have made the most of the 3x skill.

As it is I used every opurtunity to hunt and gained a lot of skill in the process.

I'm not sure I'd be keen on a "(L) Items only rule". I'm not an uber myself (the jury is still out on whether I'm even a mid-level player) but for the most part I use unlimited equipment (with the occasional use of a (L) Shear X80 amp). The gear that I do have I've worked hard, and deposited also, to obtain. Imagine how I'd feel being effectively shut out of an event because I'd got unlimited (albeit, less effective) equipment.

Blacklisting previous winners could be the way to go, although I'm sure that those ubers effected could cry foul at this as well. And to be fair, I wouldn't blame them.
 
Well Its good to see at least one other rational person log into EF.

I have said this same thing may times at every thing MA does that I have tried in hopes of change. Its NEVER gonna happen. There are too many players here that enjoy that favoritism and the coat tail riders to stop it.
 
Well, lots of what you say is true and I am mad at MA that they keep giving the guys that could autofap and use other nice bugs in the beginning, but hey, it's not their fault ;) But I think MA IS trying to eliminate this, slowly, but they are ;)
 
I respect you for admitting that you took a loan out to buy something in Entropia. Alot of people who dont play the game would find this completely stupid, except for us real players :)
 
The event of the robots I liked, I saw low & high skilled people loot important stuff. I'm glad I joined, sadly I didn't have to much time for it.

Concerning the Mayhem, I'm not joining because the setting is

'the more you kill the more you earn points'

I translate this into :

'The more firepower you have to higher your chances are'
'The better your armor is for the selected mobs the higher your chances are'
'The lesser you have to fap the higher your chances are'

As I'm in category 4, it means (taking into account competition)

'Please have an imp or mod fap'
'Please have high dmg/s'
'Please have shadow, supr or other armor which helps to shoot more'

I'm in the lower range of the category 4 with level 77 so I won't bother.
But then again, if I would have that stuff I would participate.

It is difficult to balance between "luck" where all can win and "skilled" where some have all the advantage.

Number of kills (determining points) is unfair form an equipment point of view, but I have no alternative myself. So gl to all and show me we can beat some pregold ;)

Tom i think you are definately onto something.

I was also thinking the same i.e. Players who joined the game after a certain date stand little to no chance for the uber loot or uber items.

If i'm thinking the same as you are and we are not friends in game or know each other, what's the chances of that must be something truth in there. I reckon the older players at the top probably know but eh they are hardly going to mention it...
 
I think you got problems the buzz. 15 poes were to be looted so 15 contraction units dropped. dont tell me you're mad because you didnt get one, 99.999% of the population didnt. And dont think you are the only one hard coring this wonderful game.

I voted fuck yes, and i mean it. i loved all of these reseny events, even if i didnt win shit, nor got any good loot.
 
its an interesting problem. i dont think MA should handicap those who have worked harder or been around longer, yet at the same time the balance is too much that the top 20 get ever further away from everyone else. the prizes are so great that most of the top people do not feel the need to leave, because theres a hope of yet another valueable prize. so their kit doesnt get cycled, it stays in the same select group.

of course this works great for MA, creating a massive inflation based on scarcity, so massive amounts get deposited. you got to pay top $ to get into the club. so i dont think things will change. Im not sure how they could do anyway. its hardly fair to exclude last years winners from this competition. do England get exluded from WOF because we won? the problem is not with events, its a deeper rooted issue, one that will take a stoke of genius to resolve.

I tell my friends that I play EU and that it costs me money and that I've put in £x over three years and they look at me as if I'm nuts. However, in my eyes it is a hobby, similar to going to going out socialising or going to football (soccer). I've perhaps spent similar amounts on those activities over the same time period.

I was going to make the comment Fatherjack did about the original poster's top loots, but if he's putting in $500 a month and taking out loans then perhaps he's entitled to those loots.

Ultimately, I suspect that you need to take a break from the game before it does your head in, thebuzz (assuming it hasn't already). And don't forget that as with all MA events, there is the option to not take part.
 
Well said, I think your a very determined gamer and should deserve more.
MA are slowly considering all this as you can really see they have really taken sometime to asking and giving what the community wants. They have really created one of the best events since ive been playing. I really think I have a chance in this one. It is sad you were left out in the rain. I hope you feel better there. Theres always some unlucky ones. Not everything can ever meet what everyone wants.
Its really touches the side of unfair. One thing that the new Prime Minister of NZ said was that as long as you have opportunity, thats all you need. I think thats true, it maybe hard, but the opportunity is there. You may not have state of the art equipment, but you have a gamers heart.
I hope in the future that there is an event you will find that meets your equality.
Remember this is an opportunity and whether you choose to take a shot at it is your choice. If you try, then all you need to say is you tried your best and it wasn't enough.
World is unfair and will continue to be. Waiting on it to be fair can take ages, but yes taking action sometimes can change something. Lets take America for example. They finally got there first African-American President, which is a milestone from slavery. Perhaps we should thank those who tried so hard to give equality to todays generation. Like Martin Luther King.
Maybe you can make that change. Get MA to listen to you and to do something that meets the fairness of everyone.
Its always hard to beat those who have been here for ages, but not impossible. Take a shot at this event and if its not enough then scream and whine. You then have the right to lol.

I see no problems. Last event was one of chance (where you had more chance if you could kill more / bigger), this one is one of skills and gear (what the game is about).
MA even made it so that 37 other people have a price now too (and not too shabby ones).

Actually the trend of the past year is that more and more non ultra-ubers can join in the fun. With the L PK armor and L pk guns in Landgrab. With 4 classes of hunters.. etc etc

You have a point that old UL stuff is hard to beat. Sib only weapons (including the UL ones) might have been better. That way a noob with modmerc won't win the cat 1 first price. But well the old ul weapons are a part of EU and you can't just ban them.
 
I think i get your point. (at least most of it)

but its not even easy to make a event with rules that not leave only the illusion of a chance to end up in the upper ranks.
Also as my personal opinion is MA have to please the upper 10 league wich probaply owns 80% of the peds ingame to not upset them.

I dont hunt nearly as long as you nor invested nearly your sums , but lost me a 1/4 year budget, and i ended up with 20/21 useless items (partially bought)

For the mayhem i think the rules got better than last year ( so i see they are skilling up ;) )

I just think the mobchoice for the higher category is pretty wrong ... There are only a couple people ingame that can take down high lvl spiders efficiently, so by choosing that mob you will know for sure that they will win the prize if they participate ...

Ma could as well just have put the Land Area in their storage :laugh:

If MA wanted to create a competition they should have chosen a mob that at least a dozen of people can kill efficiently.
 
Maybe EU players needs an EU playing spokesperson to MindArk so theres gonna be made changes... I don't really know.

But I do know that whenever I take 2-3 days of thinking and the ball suddenly burst like it did now - I feel I speak what other people told me in game, and in forum. Im summarizing if U like - what I heard and in my heart I feel that a large portion of the EU players is mistreated... Hence those very emotional posts I make. :eek:

Low level spiders are no problem at all for lvl 70+ (or lvl 40+ for that matter).
I would have rather seen mulaak'f , that would have been pretty interesting :)
 
You may say that MA don't run events correctly, but these last two events were a hell of a lot better than in the past. Different catagories for players has been needed for a while, your just unfortunate to be in the highest class.
Yep sure better equipment will give them an advantage as will better skills - the same applies to lower catagories.

But isn't that what EU is all about?

Do MindArk handle events very well?It's very dificult (probably impossible) to present us perfect events due to the inbalance you are talking about.
But even so, i think they are doing a very good job atm.

I'm sorry that your amazing efforts during the robot wars did not get paid off with a contraction unit m8, but that does not make it a bad event.
As for the Merry Mayhem: compare it to last years event.
How much better is it now than last year? ALOT!
They clearly thought about ways to make it more interesting for ppl from all skill levels.

Unfortunatly they can't make everyone happy but that does not mean they are not doing a good job.
