Help: Can't patch while client loader is running

All,

This new problem occurred today on my Windows Vista system:

I'm getting a popup after accepting the ToU that says "Can't patch while client loader is running"

Does anyone have a clever suggestion other than downloading the latest entire package and do a clean install?

i opened straight off the hard drive and not the shortcut and worked fine. now taking the patch. in the description this issue is addressed here:

* Occasionally while patching you may get an error message stating "The client loader is already running". This is a known error with the previous client loader, and has been fixed in this patch. However, until you successfully patch you may repeatedly encounter this error. You may attempt to patch several times until it works, or, if you prefer, you can download a repair installer from:

http://download.entropiauniverse.com/clientloader_update.exe
