In the past we had a thread on how armour works:
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-armor-works.85746/

Now the question is does it still work the same way as outlined in the opening post of that thread? That's a very old thread and there have been many changes since then. Notably change to cryengine and loot 2.0

We now have "deflected" which we didn't have in the past for example.

If it doesn't work like that now then how does it work now? Anyone done any tests/research etc on this?

Hello! I think this what you are looking for:

Here, on the top of the page is some information since loot 2.0:

http://www.entropiawiki.com/Page.aspx?page=Armor+Decay

Introduction

In Modern Entropia (Loot 2.0) Armor decays based on the amount of damage resisted.

Decay is a simple formula of:

Decay in pec = damage absorbed ((100,000 - durability)/100,000) x (0.05)
Edit:

as you can see, the Durability has a much, MUCH smaller impact on decay than it used to.

Viewing a armor piece and thinking "Wow that decays a lot" is simply not applicable today. The difference between lowest durability (UL) armor and highest durability armor is not very big when used in the above formula.

If you also play around with the armor advisor:

http://www.entropiawiki.com/ArmorAdviser.aspx

you will soon notice that Damage absorbed per pec seems to go from about 20 to 25, "worst to best" eco.
