As its name suggests, Entropia Universe isn't an MMORPG based on one particular realm. Instead, it consists of several worlds within a virtual universe and relies on a micro-payment model. This means that players can purchase in-game currency and then convert the virtual funds back into real cash using a fixed exchange rate. Like Second Life, players can make and sell virtual goods, creating a virtual, thriving economy without the typical questing and character leveling seen in standard MMORPGs.

Current planets include the sci-fi themed Calypso and the rock-n-roll themed Rocktropia. Planet Michael--a world based on Michael Jackson--is expected to launch in late 2011.

Nice find!! :D This is a nice way to advertise the whole universe! Short and sweet with an awesome pic! :yay:

Very nice find :D

+rep for letting us know

very nice.... I don`t understand why this game is not advertising on this sites: IGN.com, gamespot.com, gametrailers.com, this game is really outdated on those sites, only on IGN there are few pics, that tells nothing, those sites are showing all that matters to gaming old, present or what is new coming...
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/entropia-universe/6037 here we still meet Project Entropia...

I guess the problem with investing in publicity that it are different planets of different companies.

MA is making promotion towards potential planet partners because that are their customers not the players. And they cannot favor any planet in marketing campaigns towards potential new players.

The planetpartners themselves are risking that after an extensive and expensive marketing campaign they will attract players but they will choose for another start-planet the first time they logon.
If the planetpartners could offer a download and a registration on their website that ensures new players that they will be entering their planet at first logon it would be 'safer' to invest in a marketing campaign.

Creating a 'fly trough' demo with FPS benchmark mode would also be neat, comparing publishing benchmarks is also a common thing with people that have good gaming systems and thus potential players.

Maybe it's the task of the community manager(?) to be more active on gaming and micro-economy websites / fora to directly and indirectly promote Calypso (and the free download) or at least make people curious.

I had to laugh when I read that line.. Nothing micro about payments to play here for a long time.

Anyway Toms is a high traffic place so maybe more will see and investigate regardless its still the same blah blah yadda yadda BS regarding the financial aspects of it all.

This is one of the comments over there about PE:

Entropia Universe is visually very impressive in comparison to everything else but I still haven't got the hang of it, I ran out of ammunition during hunter training and now I can't finish it.

Hanne - better make sure they have enough resources to get through noob-camp:wise:

They have plenty of resources. They just go out and shoot everything that moves or doesn't move, without paying attention to the mission requirements. So yeah, then you run out. As advisers we point them to the veteran, which they often also can't find by themself (as you know, he gives ammo once), but funnily enough they often later these people come back in the same mission, still not solved.

.

Funny thing about publicity.. IT WORKS.

I saw a brief 15 second commercial about the Battlestar Galactica on line game and thought huh.. I didn't even know about that one...(and even tried it out)

Too bad MA does not believe in marketing...
