I thought a personal apology might be in order

I wasn't sure at first what I should apologize for. So it may be best to say what I am not sorry for first, to clear any misconceptions up.

I am not sorry for supporting a person who was being picked on. I am not sorry for supporting the players surrounding that person. I am not sorry for opposing certain individuals on this board, and their efforts to insult, defame, or destroy the in-game reputations of that player, or those around that player. I am not sorry for being morally correct. I remain morally correct.

It is in that spirit I am however obliged to apologize for who I defended. As it turns out, the defense was more important than the person being defended. The defense was about a principle. That principle remains solid.

I have withdrawn my support twice now from this person. Both times it seems are because that person has behaved in no better manner than those who I defended this person against. When he attacked a youth I waited. When the youth forgave him I did as well. That was their business, and once concluded it was over. This time its different. There can be no going back. Too many people would have to forgive them. Too many people whom he has never even met.

If I have opposed you, on this board or in-game, it is because I believed firmly (and likely still do) that you prey on the weak. That has not changed. What has changed is I am now firmly convinced this person is just like you.

Was there a scam? I don't know. If you want to stick to facts that's as far as the facts go.
Do I believe there was? No. I believe there was alot of stupid behavior, but no scam.
At this point, I really don't care. There is no further need or desire on my part to discuss anything about this person.

Those who are in the know realize who I am talking about. Those who do not, well, its just another piece of Entropian history you're probably fortunate to not have been part of.

Flame away. I really don't care what you think, and at the end of the day I wont lose any sleep if you have some sort of problem with what I have said. I considered my words carefully before writing them, and realize their implications fully, both positive and negative. That apology was for me. I have done it, and now the situation is over for me. Whether it's over for you or not is not my problem.

That will be all.

No. I know very little about both NDS and Rocktropia, tbh. I think hes being picked on a bit, though, and that its silly! Everyone has their own pet controversy, though. :silly2:

Apology noted and the issue is dropped as far as I am concerned. However, just a slight point.

If this is the case, then perhaps we have failed you (and others) just as bad as he has. :(
 
No need to apologise.
I always saw you as someone that wanted to defend the underdog...and you will continue to do so because that's who you are.

That's an admirable quality.

Sucks that now 2 large Societies will forever be hostile towards each other over 1 guy.

Never thought you was a bad guy Mag, just a little misguided and obviously continue to be.

Easier to forgive. Holding a grudge takes too much energy and spreads the sickness through the rest of the mind. Easy to say hard to do and often takes time but well worth it.
 
And that is one reason i left my soc.
I did not join a soc to fight.
I want to make friends not war.
 
I appreciate the support from the commentators on this thread. Its appreciated. I will endeavor to ensure that it is not wasted.

13+ with parental consent. Not that it matters. If a kid wants to play theres nothing that could be done to stop them. It's not like MA requires ID before account creation.

I remember we had a fun little discussion in the past, but I have nothing personal against you. All I really know of you is just the words that you type into this forum. But I'm a firm believer that positive energy breeds positive energy. If you seek, or expect to find negative energy, you will find it. Likewise, if you feel that it's you against the world, then it will be just that. Remaining on the defensive while making general accusations against an entire community is not the way to accomplish what you desire. It simply creates more of the negative energy that you despise.

We can all strive to be better people, but the change must come from within...

I dont know what it is, but virtually every person who has used the word Wolf in their name I havn't gotten along with.

Has anyone ever studied the type of animal people identify with, and found a correlation between that and how they socialize with other people?

I can tell you right now I am not a dog person. I much prefer cats. :thumbup:

You are very eloquent but defending a person with absolutely no morals the 1st time was a mistake. The thing is u came out batting for a second round an now you've been bitten where it hurts again! shoulda learnt the 1st time u know "Once bitten twice shy" LOL

Precisely where am I hurting? I apologized for defending him because it was the right thing to do. Its not like Im losing sleep over my actions. Whether he had no morals or not was never relevant, and that particular issue should have always remained his problem. It never should have gotten this big.

The fact is he was being picked on by a gang of cyber thugs and players with a jackal mentality who smelled blood and circled in for the kill. That is not cool, and it never will be acceptable behavior for me. I pulled my support from him not because you all were right, but because he is just as much of a cyber thug as the rest of you.

You showed me what you posted on your soc website, and the Mrs told me what you told her in PM. I see your intentions as honorable, and +rep for the initiative here on the forum.

I must say though that just as your position and intentions are different from the person who you were supporting, so too are the positions and intentions of each and every person involved. What you see as a group of jackals preying on the weak, I see as a series of individuals, each with their own personal history here. Their own motivations. Their own intentions. If you step back and examine each person as an individual, you will see that each person involved became involved at a different time, and for a different reason.

The only thing that anyone has in common is that each one has been individually insulted or offended by the same person. There are, ofc, exceptions. There are some Jackals who are actually preying on the weak. But they are the exception, rather than the rule.

The biggest difference between the various people involved is one of motive.

If you examine the history, you will see very clearly that Calypto (for those of you that havent yet figured it out) attacks people with the purpose of trying to gain notoriety so that more noobs will tune in to his little radio show. I have had long discussions with him on skype in the past about this, stating that this is a small community and that people have feelings, and they dont soon forget what happens to them. I warned him that this would happen to him from the very beginning.

The forum, however isnt a very good place to discuss it. If you would take a suggestion, I would suggest that you keep it off the forum, if for no other reason than to spare what's left of JC's nerves.

Yeah. Certain folks I have always maintained a general ability to have at least a civil discussion with, even if at times it was a bit strained. Because their points and motivations were plainly valid. We may have exchanged harsh words, sometimes, but we got over them quickly enough. Disagreements are OK, and part of human nature.

I never said the guy was a saint, I just questioned the accusations against him. Had he been harassed for being a general douchebag I likely wouldnt have had anything to say about it past August of 2010! It was plain even back then that he was, and even my society had dealings with him where I was certain 100% that he was not a person I would ever do financial business with. Not that he was a thief. Just that he was not nice when it came to money, and had some wrong ideas about it. :ahh:

But Im going off on a tangent. Some people had a beef with him. AHR folks for instance definitely had justifiable issues with him. ETA as a whole had a right to be angry with him, though IMHO some people within that organization needed to not be involved with new players, either. Other people either fed the fire for their own purposes, or enjoyed its existence for the sake of being able to burn things in it. This episode has definitely attracted some online sadists.

I've got no intention of discussing this further though. I think we're on the same page, and know the situation and its participants well enough to not need to discuss anything about it.
