Yes, you can only use a make-up item for one mask, then it will disappear from your inventory.
The full tt value of the make-up item is transferred back to your ped card during the mask upload process.
There is also a transfer fee for uploading the mask that is paid to MA (starts at 5 ped and goes up a little from there).
