Hello colonists!
The impact of the War Titan Typhon caused a big shock to Calypso, and has knocked it out of orbit a bit. Unfortunatly, this has caused all current viewer units (indicated with 9.4) to lose the connection, because it is trying to focus on an area that the planet no longer occupies.
Do not be alarmed! Researchers secretly have been working for months on the calculations required for new orbits, and what the effects might be. Moral support and guidance has been provided to the researchers, by some of the test-subjects, namely the official First Planet Company guides Simon and Emma. You can see their efforts in various places, such as http://www.entropiagateway where these have erroneously labeled as miniteasers.
Fortunatly, the community has stepped up into to the void of no guidance, to provide help to all new arrivals on our dear planet, and will continue to do so during the coming period.
Even though some of the efforts of the research has been leaked, and is considered finished by many, not all research has actually been finished at this time. For example, a new viewer unit has been developed, but since the impact was not completely predictable, some calculations of the orbit still have to be done.
Some effects of the impact are already known however, and have been noticable by those brave guides mentioned earlier, Simon and Emma. They have reported that the rotational-speeds of the planet have changed. This has caused, for the first time on Calypso, to make day and night-cycles appear. Earlier colonists have mentioned that the void of the orbs did provide the same cycle, but it is still unknown if this was a secret research-project related to the impact-results or not.
Also, the technology of the new viewer unit has been fastly improved. Although research already has commited to even more updates, no funding has been provided, so plans may still change.
Another effect that has been detected is that due to the minor iceage and general debris in the environment, it has been detected that no natural resources could be found on the ground, although plant-life and animals seem to be abundant. Unfortunatly, the report does not mention if this plantlife is holographic, as we are used to it, or not. It is expected, that the natural resources such as fruit, dung and stones will be uncovered again, and may appear in an area near you in the future.
A report from one of the researches show that viewer unit 10.0 will be able to provde resolutions in the hundreds of megapixels, and that temperatures from -50 up to 50 degrees celcius could be found using it, and that sounds are extremely rich from all environments, and even using simple laptop speakers, all the audio came from all directions, from thousands of sources at once. Also, much more than milions of colours have been detected, even using monochrome visual displays.
Unfortunatly, these reports can not be confirmed, and the researcher who had been working inside the building on researching the environmental changes for years, has been taken straight from the parkinglot outside the building where he was found in shock to the nearest psychiatric facility for evaluation. We wish him well!
Your helpful guide, Jot.
