Sync Chip Fail?

I have a sync chip that I am maxed on. I occasionally sync myself with it (yes I know I'll go blind doing that) and recently it has developed an alarming failure rate. It used to be that any fail was rare (I don't actually remember any) but on the last 2 tries, it took 2 attempts and 4 attempts to sync.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Sweating is not disrupted when hit... small increase in chance that teleport chips and other chips that needs chargeup are not disrupted when hit.

What are sync chips even good for?

For some time now, sync chips have been good for skilling sync chips and naught else. But like taming, I'm not giving up on it- someday,possibly a long time hence..sync will become useful again.
