Unreal update please...

I'm fine with any date/year, as long as they inform us a few weeks/months in advance, so we have time to buy a new PC... :)
Agree although I already acquired one with a 3070 in for next to nothing (bit lucky there) so suspect I'll be OK. That said I'd like time to enjoy things as they are now and try and archive as much as I can before switch over. So at least 6 months notice would be appreciated.

What happens when a crypto scam rugpulls?

What you just said.

There's no UE5 update until they give meaningful updates.. ANY update at all. It's been several years already with already 1 money grab on the topic.

If they were doing progress great. They are doing no favors to themselves by not keeping the pop updated in ANY form. It should be plastered everywhere to avoid malaise.
yeh but MA will do what they've always done. See value somewhere in not saying anything. To be fair, they have SUCH a bad track record of saying then not delivering, it kinda makes sense they don't say anything any more. They probably don't even trust themselves to deliver.

I find it funny how people thought it was gonna be a 1-2 year project.
The article about MA signing for UE5 though was WED, JUN 30, 2021 07:46 CET

That's a bit more than 1-2 years. I do believe people wondering whats going on, more than 3 years after it being announced, is justified.

Far more than justified and some are taking other actions from the complete disrespect of silence.

When you see what 1 guy is capable of in UE5 in a relatively short period of time, it makes you wonder what an entire team of paid professionals is capable of in these 3+ years.

It's all about quarterly reports, if you know what i mean. Think if i write anything after this to explain it further I'd be banned from the forum immediatelly.

Read the reports, you're playing the game, and you will quickly realize the reports are written for some other game maybe or for some other dimension we are not aware of :D

It seems like MA subscribes to the school of "don't give updates until you're ready to actually release it".

I don't like it, but many successful game studios have done it.

Though I wouldn't have teased stuff and then suggested more teasers were coming, if they were actually planning on going radio silent.

even if unreal EU was released already, chances are good it would take another 8-10 years until we're back at beta with 80% functionality

One of my questions is whether MA internally know that some main areas will not be up and running for 'a while', such as pets that disappeared for a long time on the arrival of CE2.
I make it clear that I do not expect an answer there, as it would be a death blow to those areas in advance, but I wonder what is endangered.
In the past I can only think of tiering up skill that was added but later removed. Could something like tiers themselves and enhancers somehow not find their way into a new modular system of weapons and attachments?
As UE5 is intended to be more strongly visual I imagine, will the scope of beauty and fashion be increased or decreased in the first release?
Could the whole harvesting thing be dumped but promised back into the development of modular buildings?
If space mining really is introduced soon, then will that mean the whole space thing is safeguarded?
Also of importance is new features that might bypass or massively change people's play, whether it be sweating, the auction, socs, interplanetary tps, mining and crafting etc. Even something such as EP crafting could be affected if ammo is reconsidered.

Basically, what will be left out because MA finds it too hard for launch, and what may be massively changed because MA decides to change direction somehow?

It's been 1-2 years of silence, after all the promised regular updates. All we got is some concept art and ONE blogpost that's now over 2 years old.

It looks like MA is not excited about unreal at all, else we'd have more updates

If they had positive news to share they would..

I’d guess the current instability at Mindark has caused the project to be delayed or paused while they readdress the strategy.

I think it will happen, just closer to 2030.

Edit:
1) it’s also possible now they are public, the board do not want them to share constant updates to the market.
2) Mindark is up for sale. Meaning everything is frozen and kept quiet
3) more unlikely, they are about to enter into administration.

I think it was never going to be reasonable to expect it done in 2 years....a change of engine means a total redevelopment of the client including the interface between client and server. Which also probably means either a total recreation by hand of all areas and instances on every planet or a complex conversion process. Recreating or adjusting missions, recreating mob spawns. It's hard to say for sure. The fact that Cryengine development was also C++ means some stuff might be able to be brought over and adapted. Still, more than a 2 year project.

I don't think we are demanding it gets released today. We just want an update to let us know there's not been a change of course.

I don't understand why they even bother trying to convert to UE5. The current game just uses a scratch on the surface of what Cryengine 2 is able to do. Just look at Crysis 2. Then there is Cryengine 3 (Crysis 3) and later versions. It must be much easier to use Cryengine to improve graphics and other stuff (I'm actually very happy with what we have now and don't wish for any changes)

I agree it's capable of much more. But main reason game studios wish to change to UE5 is the tools that makes creation of content a lot faster. I think I heard or read that cry engine isent the easiest to work with.

And also cry engine scales a lot worse than UE5. They need to find a balance that makes it possible for people with weaker clients to still keep playing. They aren't anywhere close to how pretty Cry engine can be on the outdoor areas, but I think some of it is because of staying within limits of the various clients

cryengine, yes............ the perfect engine for MMO :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

and seriously?.... you are... happy... with what the game is like now?

i mean, good for you

but man, raise your fucking aspirations.... CryEngine vs UnrealEngine... and you chose to stay with cryengine.... man oh man

EDIT:

after some digging i noticed you have not tested anything above a certain play-level, and because of this i can confidently say you have no idea of the issues the current version of the game has. Have you seen the performance of the "Very happy state" of the game during Land Grab events? Bigger Mob spawns that MA do on a regular basis?

im sorry for calling you out on that, i thought being almost 20 years into the game you'd be at least somewhere above medium level.
