With this new resolve, the future is crystal clear: I must improve, constantly seeking every slightest advantage over the robot foe. I began by securing one of the improved Fast Aid Packs from Dr. D'Raay. She very generously offered to give me her own, so I donated a large fraction of the inheritance to support her continuing research on improving them.

The nuances and strategies learned through combat experience will be my textbook, mastery of weapons, armors, healing and logistics my goal. I will find the best way to prepare to combat the foe, preparing for the final assault. I have already started a new skilling regimen.

Meanwhile, I am seeking out the best weapon for the intensive years of training, putting out feelers in the 'Net forums and on the street. It seems like it will take what remains of my PEDs: I will have to live off the land.

I adapted an old Calypso ballad for this personal crusade:

The Ballad of the Imk2
Twas years ago
now mark you well
we settled on this land.
We brought with us
both hopes and fears
but came to take a stand.

[wrap=right]http://www.entropiaforum.com/gallery/files/3/8/6/7/impdoer.jpg[/wrap]The robots loomed
an unplanned threat
our brainchild gone awry
and enigmatic Rangers
fought them off
with eerie battle cry

The Rangers' strengths
were legion, yes
but greatest that we knew:
the special weapon
which they bore
the Improved Justi. Mk. 2.

The struggle waged
by those brave souls
kept Calypso human-home
our haven to life bought
by whom upheld the code
within the Desert Ranger tome.

Today amidst
the bustling crowds
in Haven, port, and town
Still stride those who
would uphold the strength
those Desert Rangers found.

The robot hordes
are out there yet
surely to strike one day;
the time is now
to show lost arms to sell
to those who'd gladly pay!

Then when the drones
like locusts come,
the robot menace swarms
the neo-Rangers will rise
to meet and crush again
the metal-alloy forms.

Throughout histr'y —
written and to come,
spurred by will and then
wit and inner grit,
the refrain echos and resounds:
onward homo sapien!
