Streaming Audio in New Event System

Hi all,

This new event system MA has introduced is pretty cool - lastnight Jeffe and I decided to hold an event and test out the streaming audio option in the event creation.

I created a .pls file, and uploaded audio files to a web server along with this .pls playlist file which EU requires.

The event began, and it started to play

However, it only played the first entry in the playlist, lol - many times over.

I don't know if this is a bug on MA's end or if something was done wrong - here's a copy of the .pls filed used (domain name omitted):

If it only supports one file, doesn't that defeat the purpose of using a .pls playlist file? Just wondering if anybody else has tried this or had any luck, or if MA can shine any light on this as it would be cool to use!

If you need any streaming of music live to your event please contact me and I will arrange one of our DJ's to accomadate your needs. You can select the playlist and if you have of your own files we can add them to the set.

Have you got streaming in the event system to work properly?

Yes I did stream succesfully to the event in Neas tonight on 2 seperate occasions

Maybe the bug is triggered by the use of the wma-file as the first entry.

You should try not using those next time.

Just guessing here.

Cool I was listening in on the radio but not at the event so I wasn't sure how well it had worked, good to know that it did.

So what did you do different to Beech and Jeffe? Is it because your .pls is a continuous live stream, rather than a succession of files?

You are correct we ran it as a pure single stream not a succession of files.

Thanks for input - I'm still trying to get it working with a succession of files (as a .pls file is intended to do, and a lot less work than combining multiple files into one!).

No word yet on the support case, I'll post here when I do hear back. Could try doing another test without .wma (but the .wma did play, so a bit odd).

Perhaps that's the key then. If so then event streaming should be quite straightforward for a radio station, if they already broadcast a .pls.

For one-off uses I guess the best way is to create a single-track .pls file.

I can't find any way to create a .pls in any of my audio software. What do I need to make one?

Well we have successfully ran streams so far as .pls .asx .m3u they all worked fine from the station

This have now been investigated. Unfortunately this is an intended limit at the moment; you can only include one item in the list. The ingame help texts will be updated to mirror this. This might change in the future.
