... the LOOT is the slot machine part. The point where it becomes gambling is where you connect the loot directly to your dollars (or whatever real-life currency you prefer). Fact is, there is an intermediary point known as the PED.

This is a game where you pay for entertainment. Avatar skill profile determines the level you can comfortably play at for a given size of cash flow. Player skills exist too; one of the most relevant player skills to this game is, how effectively can you control your level of expenditure? The better your control over your own spending habits, the more easily you can make the game fun. The gambling part happens when you choose to bet your cash on what kind of loot you will get rather than considering it cash spent to play a game.

What MMO out there lacks randomized loot? How can completely predictable loots add to the entertainment value of an MMO? It really boils down to, when you hunt online, would you rather pay per month or per shot fired? and of course how closely you understand the cost of hunting in whatever particular way you hunt. Same goes for the other professions (except trading which is more part of the scenery than an actual part of the MMO).

Just , don't take it too seriously.

the professions are gambling...and as you play, you always have the feeling that the game is on the cusp of being something great but it never gets there.... the platform would be better minus the gambling aspect instead of tricking people that this is a game where you can come in, do the professions, and have a shot at earning money.
Quoted for aptness and truth. Just let us play a game, tyvm

It's interesting how you made realization that this game is not 100% gambling equal to thinking 'This game is amazing!' That was not my experience at least.

As for it being gambling or not, gambling means taking a chance, hoping for best without being able to knowingly affect the result. You don't need a random system to take a gamble in it.

EU has a dynamic scale of how much of a gambling it is. The less you know, the more gambling you take. And as some rules remain mysterious even for most experienced players and there are factors that are close to impossible to control even if you know them, some gambling aspect is definitely present in the game for majority of players. It's a lot less present than some seem to think though.

All ill say is u seem to see things black when they are obviusly white.
Well I say they are gray, and those that fail to see even the possibility of gray also fail to see the truth, as it usually exists somewhere in the middle...

    2) McGyver forumers: Those who have points of view associated with the use of practical behaviours to survive in the game. Practical solutions, that often explain, such as using common sense to practice the game (example. If you obtained a good loot on that day, then, continue with your activities; but if you do not get loot, then, you must not play, because it is better to wait another moment). They are not interested in the assumptions or theories.
McGyver was just so cool! (Not the new one of course)
    I can relate.

Your post is a nice try in the good direction, but it runs even far deeper
