Another 10,000 Argonaut Iron Hunt

Hey all! Thought I would put up my 10,000 Argonaut Hunt!

Some notes:

Weapon - Breer P5a w/ Omegaton A104
Armor - Goblin w/ mark.5a
FAP - Vivo T5/Vivo T10

Major Starting Skills

I try to do two Omegaton A104 worth of hunting so about 450 ped worth of ammo (4.5 million light weapon cells) per hunt.

All items are considered sold at TT Value unless actually sold for MU. Currently, the only items I am cycling for MU are Animal Eye Oil and Iron Stone. I have cycled some Wool/Hides also.

wow your returns are unusually low. Maybe you are leaking decay/peds somewhere? If you want, you can post a breakdown of your costs and maybe we can help.

Not sure if I am leaking peds but if you notice my actual Ped/Kill is decreasing. Maybe the time zone I am in is bad so not too many people playing when I play?

Note: First number is Cost/Kill second number is Loot/Kill
 
Average ammo spent is 375ped, average armour decay is 16.95ped. Usually people should firstly take a look at their armour decay to see if this is where the peds are leaking out from your return. But from what I can see your fap decay is very minimal. Your fap+armour bill is about 4.52%, its below 5% which is acceptable. Other than that your Evader profession could do some work, extra skilling.
 
i think armor is on the high side, you could probably cut that down 1/3 at least. maybe try 2a plates on the goblin or pixie or just shogun. are you getting a lot a 1.0 damages? you may end up fapping a little more, but medic skills have value, armor decay doesnt.

also are you using tagger like an opalo? p5 has short range, i image you are agroing several at times, tagger can be used to moderate the number of mobs that agro. something strange is happening if you cost to kill is going up, it should remain the same or decrease as you get more defensive skills

when i was hunting a lot of argos, i just used pixie with no plates. however i did fap more and was doing shorter runs so pixies durability was not too much an issue.

overall though, saving an extra 10 ped per run isnt going to make globals happen, it might just be a bad time to hunt argo for you. how are you doing in other professions?
 
Dont give up, after 6 months you might break even or better.

it seems about average...

maybe a bit high, actually on the armour decay, but low evade will do that... at level 25ish evader, my decay bill was NEVER larger than 10 ped per a104, and that was running into huge herds alot. Just finished the 10k mission, and loot was mostly in the 80-95% range. got a few between 65 and 70% and a few at 130%

might i ask what you're gaining from enhancing the p5a?

You can save a bit on armour, the best for you would be unplated Gremlin, or if you can't afford that try some 2A plates on your Goblin. Where do you hunt?

One of my lowest Hunt Cost/Kill yet however also my lowest Loot/Kill :(

There were a total of 1 argonaut global during my hunting time (close to 3 hours)

I think I need to stop hunting when I normally do (game time 0200 - 0600) and just hunt on weekends when more people are on... well off to sell some stuff to fund my next hunt!

Did three hunts tonight and although I did not end positive my RoI did increase due to better loots! (1x Global/Run) Still waiting on my first HoF!

gremlin is overkill for youngs and adults...

shogun is great, rascal probably the most efficient

goblin doesn't make much sense as it doesn't do cut... pixie would be a tiny bit more efficient and offer the same protection as goblin

If you have some evade....guardian and 1a does nor protect a ton but is very efficient.

I believe the OP said he had 5 evader... so they're hitting him quite a bit. It would be most "eco" for him to protect against most of the hit... might be different if he could stand in a crowd of 5-10 and barely get hit.. no sense in underprotecting and spending your savings in Fap decay

I suppose I should have read and "comprehended" the first post. But yeah, with 5 evade the guardian combo is not good. Just plain pixie should be fine though s you suggested. I fully agree that gremlin is a bit overkill peds wise.
 
It appears to me you need a finisher.

For what I use (I don't want to say it because every time I mention it here there's a run on it in game) I average about 1.25 ped per kill (from young to guardian.) My gun does about half the damage yours does (for half the cost) and I also use a cb5 as a finisher. You are essentially throwing away 12 pec per kill:

388 argos X 10 pec saved by using a finisher (say opalo unamped vs p5a/104) = 38.8 ped.

530 total cost - 38 = 491.2

491.2 / 388 argos killed = 1.26 per kill

(1.37 cost per kill - 1.26) / 1.37= 8% decrease in cost per kill

You want to be careful when you are doing something that costs even 1 pec thousands of times.

Don't blame the loot, that's something we can't control. The only thing we can control is costs.
 
Notes: Did a few smaller hunts today. Although I have been reading the recommendations and my next hunts will include no enhancers and switching to pixie armor. Hopefully my costs will be below my loots!

Gotta agree with other people... unless your in an LA you should be fine with pixie if you just pull no more then 3 at a time.

I use to use ghost, but realized that was overkill.... so Im pixie, and p5a+A104. I also use either m2a or TT knife to finish depends how close their bar is.
 
I use shogun with no plates on small argo, 200ped ammo usualy ends up in about 1.5 - 2.5ped decay on the armor and no fapping at all. I might have higher evade than you though (lvl23+).
since you use a gun, bring an opalo or something realy cheap ranged weapon to tag in the argos one and one if they are standing in groups, it makes a big difference in armor (and fap) decay.

im using gnome , a bit better then pixie . i get around 3 ped on 100 ped hunt . lvl 8 evader ...and sometime i run in 2-3 at once just for fun
 
Well a new chapter in my Argonaut Quest! Switched to Plateless Pixie and was hunting in New Swiss! Not smart to run into the mass but able to pull them one or a two at a time. My hunting cost decreased massively and a few more cost with fap but overall it is cheaper and I'm getting first aid skill. First hunt was great then went downhill after that. On a side note I was doing smaller hunts 200-250 peds worth of ammo instead of 400-450+.

Also did my first event which was fun. Overall, I'm looking forward to finishing this quest and moving on to a new one. Any suggestion on which Iron one I should do next? Tried Feffoids but they regen too fast for me. Anywho onto the hunting stats:

On a side note compared to my previous hunting run, my RoI Hunt to Date is slowly creeping up! Still hoping to get my first HoF/Uber/ATH!

Following your hunt with pleasure :)

Im hunting argo using gnome armor vivo t1 and korss 380+a103, i can see that after your good session with green number you have did really bad session with only 67% of return, after most of your hunt you are in red like me its just boring to see it, you can hunt really really economic you still have only one or two good sessions for 10 hunt when you are lucky .
 
Did a few bigger hunts and 0 globals :( I think I'm going to take a short break from argos and try hunting some other stuff for the time being. But do not fear I will be back next week or so. Onto my hunts:
