Question: SEE plans to react in any way at loot aberations and unbalanced loot distribution?

Status
Well, if I recall correctly from a chat he initiated with me in-game on RT, his organization interacts with musicians, or recording artists, and ... I think the plan is to bring these individuals into RT and coordinate some events (I think), which is why he said that ND told him to chat with me about possible promotion with MSR.

So ... I have no idea what the events of the past few days have to do with that scenario whatsoever, and why I said that the coming press release (in so many words) better be gold-plated. :wise:

Funny becayse that same bloke was selling es400/es500 like sweet bread ... so inside info then ?

Reposting this here since it's relevant in this thread:

Hi, I'm Radio - I've been here for a very long time.

ND, remember when you got your hangar stolen - we the community did our best to get it back. We even blocked the door for weeks. We didn't ask for anything, we just thought it was shady that something of value had been stolen from you.

I mailed you a few weeks back to say that I thought the witch hunt was a bit harsh, however, it appears I was wrong.

Did you really request that these scanners dropped a lot as a promotion and did you really reduce the lend value of them in your bank a day/week or two before this happened?
If you did this man, then shame on you, that was really very underhand and there are proper laws against that shit. I actually can't figure out why you would have gone down that road? You knew what would happen, you didn't need to "see the effect on the economy" as per your email that dropped through to me only yesterday. There's a reason mervyn king hasn't increased the base rate in the UK yet, it's becasue the economy is still recovering. What you don't do is kick it when it's in the middle of such a recovery, as you just have.
You know the market was full of jitters, right? - Or is it the case that you've surrounded yourself with fan boys for too long and have become out of touch with the reality of this micro economy?

If all the things said on the forum over the past few days are true, then you need ot take a good look at yourself man. Just becasue you can do something, really doesn't mean that you should.
I worked for JP Morgan for a number of years, I took care of their stock trading software. I could have taken some information that would have made me seriously wealthy, I didn't. I chose not to, becasue it was the right thing to do, and if I had, then ultimately others would have lost at my gain, and that's really not right (no, I'm not a socialist, but I'm a socially aware capitalist).

Consider your actions and consider the players, becasue with no players my friend, you've poured all of your money into a dead duck.

+rep, couldn't agree with you more,

Like they say from where i come from, Money well earned is money well had,

I could lie and cheat my way through about 3x the money i get IRL pretty easily, however, i just to struggle on the income that i have for one good reason... I have morals, one mans gain is another mans loss.

Think off all the people who lost 7000 ped in markup on those ES500's, fair enough some of those people could have afforded that loss, and you could argue that putting their money in the game was risk enough. However, In all fairness, if this was insider trading and a very blatent and badly orchestrated one too, shame shame shame on the lot of you. You not only cheated the entire playerbase, you also cheated yourself. There is alot that can be said about a man who would put himself before anyone else.

I know alot of people in this game that would go to great lengths to ensure that fairness was upheld, that level of camaraderie in this game has always been such a great thing to me. I would never cheat my friends and they would never cheat me, this whole principle of fairness, trust and loyalty is what has kept entropia going so strongly for these past years.

But ND has just gone and pretty much shit all over that, this kinda shit sticks, from now on EU will forever be known as the game headed by a corrupt player, not good media in the slightest, nukes trained on rocktropia anyone? (To go with my firing squad? :p )

Funny becayse that same bloke was selling es400/es500 like sweet bread ... so inside info then ?

The impression is certainly there, and why I said it's going to be interesting to see what kind of explanation we'll get in this press release he mentioned. I don't care how you spin it, I just don't see how it will change anything given the information we have available to us right now (2 + 2 isn't adding up), and I certainly don't think he's going to be able to post anything related to MA and their possible involvement in this either. Oh, but if they are involved, they have a lot of splaining to do as well. This should be good.

I don`t see this issue as being Neverdie`s or Rocktropia team`s fault.

All blame lies with MA for having zero regard for player`s investments in items. They are also pretty retarded because they`ve shot themselves in the foot with such move. Will only make players reluctant to further invest in items.

MA, please hire a balance manager and fire the guy who allowed this to happen or gave the green light!!!

Did you read any of the last 3-4 pages? Don't take this personal
please I'm just pissed off. Like it's been said before it's one thing to drop these es500 but if neverdie leaked
info to DaManager about what mob would contain this uber item then that is the real problem
here. I think it's a real problem with ND knowing what
items drop from which mobs.

I guess we have found out what happens when lunatics start running the asylum.

I can appreciate your perspective on this, it has merit, but ... when you look at all the information available so far, it really does leave a lot to be questioned.

Such as ... (1) MA codes what the PP's present to them, and (2) if MA is in fact the one who structures what drops and from what and how many or how often, then (3) MA definitely had a look at what NDS presented with this last release and took it upon themselves to initiate the drops, or (4) NDS as a PP actually has the ability to design this information into what they present to MA and MA didn't really look at what was given to them, but blindly uploaded what NDS gave them, also (5) after so many hours, it was quickly nipped in the bud, yes? ... which would almost give me the impression that perhaps MA was only negligent in trusting content, but not partnership in what happened. I'm just sayin' ... it could go either way, and I think we need to maintain a level of critical thinking about this.

Now, take into account that this DAManager guy (DigitalAbduction in-game) claims that he will publish a press release explaining everything and asks us not to make assumptions. He's in partnership with NDS, and his organization deals with musicians and recording artists that he said to me in a chat he initiated with me in-game, that his goal is to get these recording artists on RT and do some promotional work around them. You tell me how all this relates to what happened over the last few days and what authority he has for explaining it in a way that will justify it, not to mention that he personally benefited from the ES200-ES500 drops (and maybe other stuff).

How is any of this not credible enough to even question, and what information is available that we should be inspired to only point our fingers at MA?

Yes, but this is different subject and it`s something hard to prove. Joker looted himself 6 ES500 scanners and isn`t affiliated with Neverdie.

Someone who invested 15k in such a scanner only to see it come crushing down to 2.5k doesn`t give a shit about who looted the scanners. He only cares about the bottomline, that his investment was blown to bits by some people who are clueless in running a business.

I think he looted 7 scanners within hour or hour and half.
3 of them were es500.
If I remember his post correctly

Yes you are right :)

Hard to prove??? www.digitalabduction.com is enough
proof for me.

also if MA wouldve announced that a rare item would be looting on one of the new
planets in the vu release then that's one thing but for one guy to loot 80-90% of these scanners is alittle
more than fishy to me.

From what I have seen elsewhere, it seems this is a press release about how you created an event, didn't tell anyone about it, and then reaped the rewards personally making several thousand PED as a result, yes?

what!? oleg, are you saying that they (NDS/RT) are trying to spin this disaster as some kind of "first day release RT1.9 festival for customer appreciation" instead of standing up and admitting that some clown coded the drop incorrectly and it was never tested?

You know most of these items where looted by people from Calypso who came to check out the new content. BTW on that day there where 3 hof's above 10kped on Calypso.

about 8 hours after vu I heard about and found out where the es#00 series were dropping and rushed there. Within a single 400 ped hunt I had 7 scanners 1 of them an es500 3 of the es400 and 2 each the others. I seem to have arrived just at the end of the heavy drop time as well because second hunt got no scanners.

Now I have wanted an es500 for 6 years and I have no plans to sell mine and I hope most of the es500's ended up with people of same mindset so those ones wont resell heavy and cause market flood but the ppl who got multi es500 and sell them all for fast cash really smacked down the markup.

However after a day and no more real heavy loots I notice markup has gone back up more than 1k peds.

Long term I expect es500's will go back on their steady rise in price and to some amount the es400's too but the others will stay low.

what the fuck so your saying that neverdie actually phoned the guy told him what when and how the scanners where to be dropped and to get to that spot asap because he was about to flip the switch? thats fucking so bad on all levels what was nd thinking

Was there any reason this post needed a neg rep calling me a "twat". Lol, gotta love the people who neg rep instead of posting.

I think this will be the nail in NDs coffin. While I would love to see him removed entirely from this universe I know that MA won't let that happen. However they would very well be within their rights to remove his right to even an official avatar, seeing as he will exploit it even then. Seizing all his ingame assets (land, bank, etc) will also be a step in the right direction.

A secondary thought ... since PP's don't code (only MA), I'm questioning in what format PP content is presented to MA, and ... if MA is the only one who codes, then ... they would have to look at this content in order to code, yes? If so, then would this not be a red flag? If not, and this was some kind of event, or promotion, or whatever is being tossed around to justify it, why was there not a mention or announcement about it to the community. Also, how many hours did this carry on for before MA did a fix without taking the servers down?

Once the word got out, it was inevitable that people from all over would converge onto RT, and that's why non-local RT players were benefiting, like Kitten just mentioned ... it's absolutely incredible how many dropped. However, that's not the issue here ... the issue is why it happened to begin with, and with the items it did, and ... why was DAManager in the thick of it?

I have a feeling that this isn't going to turn out good at all, because damage has already been done, and I just can't see any explanation that's going to make this any better, no matter who it comes from.

No, this press release is yet to appear so I don't know what's in it.

I'm just putting 2 and 2 together from other posts and info, which suggests that what I posted is what happened. How this will relate to the PR coming out I don't know.

of course, it is. however, they are not alone in guilt.

Ma's balance manger probably did approve what was suppose to be in the release which included that carbine. I seriously doubt he approved the scanners or the faps. I have no trouble envisioning come NDS monkey entering the wrong data resulting in es500s, es400s, es300s, etc being requested for drop instead of "RT rudolf platinum album", "motorhead gold record", "neverdie triple platinum with diamonds box set".

then, MA took NDS's word that "lots" of testing was done and accepted the submission without verifying it against the agreed specification.

I don't know if this is what actually happened, but it's much more likely than considering that MA agreed to this fiasco or even that NDS intended to have it happen. however, one never knows until one of the parties involved decides to come forward and make some sort of statement.

MA does all the secondary testing. PP's design, test, submit to MA. MA tests, tweaks, possible sends back. MA has final say on everything that enters the game and completely controls the loot pool.

its funny that you think somebody tests and tweaks

you have to step back from the general (and varied) meaning(s) of the word 'code'.

when it's said only MA 'codes', they mean only MA creates executable computer programs ('code') which runs directly on the servers.

planet partners 'code' in the sense that they configure codes and lists (like CSVs) to tell the underlying system what to do with something or how something should be rendered. things like loot tables and item stats all fall into this category. so a partner may not write code to produce game systems, they do provide codes and tokens that tell the MA program systems what to do.

Ahhh ... now it makes more sense to me, thanks my dear, it's appreciated.

So now the possibility does exist where content was given to MA and MA didn't check it, but trusted that everything was good to go. This just gets better and better!

thats why ND never posts content lists as he doesn't know whats made it into an update.

My money is it being MA using the wrong content code on the loot tables. I don't believe that NDS codes their own completed item codes and that MA ultimately are responsible for it. If they were then any planet could take content from any other.

One simple post thats all it takes, yet it seems MA are totally incapable of doing it. Just a simple 'we screwed, up sorry' or 'we did mean to do it' would settle all of it. Even a post to say we're looking into it would start to settle things down.

Letting this continue to drag on and on isn't good for us, them or the platform. Sometimes I think MA loves us to be at war with each other, to see to us divided and just throws something in to see how the players will react.

I was about to post the same - editing "Drop & Loot tables" doesn't require a coder.

secondary testing? obviously not.

I can't see a platform provider doing any such thing. it would be too costly to be the test and debug system for all partners. you would make them do that themselves. the only thing the platform provider would do is provide a stage which checks the incoming submission against the agreed specification. if the littlest thing doesn't match the entire submission is rejected. it's up to the partner to fix the problem.

however, in this case, it appears the platform's submission verification stage broke or, more likely, does not exist.

he should. it's called configuration control and is a standard engineering practice. he should know exactly what is in the submission he's providing to MA. such a submission is suppose to come from a controlled, production release storage and not from a development sandbox. release notes (and content lists) are made from this controlled storage, because the storage owner knows what's in it.

if all of this is not the case, over at NDS, they might want to hire an engineer with experience in configuration management, quality control/assurance, and release verification/validation. of course, such an individual is not going to be found on 'craigslist' and will cost lots of shiny coins.

Well you know what they say: "Once bitten twice shy". I`m pretty sure most will think thrice before investing into such items again. Who`s to say next Rocktropia VU that was announced already with bells and whistles won`t contain a second round of such lootable goodies? Who`s to say NextIsland won`t do it next. NextIsland got some special armor parts that stopped dropping on Calypso. Seems to be a general trend now, so I don`t know.....
