Wondering if it's possible to play over a vpn or something like teamviewer or similar type of gizmo or gadget? Lag would be horrible, of course, but for simple stuff like auctions and shops it might be ok? Never tried it... wondering if it'd be possible to use something like an android cell phone to log in to computer at home and then play from a distance?... assuming it would work?

I used splashtop desktop streamer to play on an Ipad. It worked over wifi but was barely useable on 3G. I would not recommend trying it, it was very difficult to control with a touchscreen.

As Burnsey said, it's do-able, but lag would pretty much make movement unbearable and very hard to control accurately even in unpopulated areas. Frames per second will become seconds per frame.
