Hi all.

The goal of this thread is to show what you can profit/loose by hunting in Entropia.
I have lvl 150 laser pistoleer, lvl 145 laser sniper, 170 laser dmg, lvl 93 evader prof-standings for now.
Using
  • modmerc (close/mid range damage T10) + h204 + scope mk2 + sight mk2 - mostly no enhancers
  • M71A2 (range damage T6) / M71A1 (range tagger T6) + i105 - range enhancers on tagger
  • modfap T5 / mod hedoc T1 / M600 T3
  • naked/AdjPixie/Knight/Rascal/Gremlin/Supremacy as armor, 5B/6A/8a sga plates - mostly no enhancers
  • buffs - vitality coat, ares perfected ring, athenic perfected ring
Will post an update end of each month on what were the runs doing the week (Google Docs) and update the total.
Added mining results log, as the returns might be somewhat relevant. level 63 prospector, 49 surveyor, 63 miner, 49 driller. Using F103, TK320, Vrx2k, Vrx3k depending on conditions, no enhancers, amp 5 to 7.
Sometimes doing crafting as well, average profstanding 45.

P.S. I try to follow these simple rules, still useful to share
  1. no/little MU input, lots MU output
  2. participating in MA events where I think have a chance
  3. stacking, avoid selling during price curve is @ lowest points
  4. no scopes+sights unless you want the extra skillgain for extra cost, or unless its mk2
  5. no extra paid services like healer - with some exceptions
  6. measure your average return, if your tt return < 90% for a longer period of time - something is off, or MA changed rules

P.P.S.
I understand that people will be jealous of Smilgs getting profits if the are losing.
That has been my worry about this log ever since I started profiting.
So is real life, the successful ones face envy, unfortunately.
Keeping the log running (for now anyway) to let players know that hunting profit is possible with the right gear, skills and effort.
To calm down haters (as if they were rational and you could reason with them lol), here are some numbers:
  • total amount spent on game since November 2010: 147k eur
  • owned ingame stuff value approximation: 1M peds (around 92k eur)
  • total withdraws same time: 100k peds (around 8.5k eur)
  • hunting balance from November 2010 to December 2012: -130k peds
  • total tt return since November 2010: 98%
It is an expensive hobby at this level and with my behavior so far, and shit-loads of time spent to maintain it.

The runs are captured by TT + writing down MU when stuff sells, for the same mob that it came from (before was using inventory calculator but it became unusable).
Some explanations about mobs are needed I guess :)
"Iron-shit" includes all the mobs that are basically only grind-ed for attributes or skills. I call them iron-shit missions regardless if they are located in Arkadia/Rocktropia/Calypso/wherever.
I am not including rewards I got completely outside of the loot system, e.g. 505 weapon i got in Arkadia.

I expect to see at least 1K loss every day:)) and then bam a big one

interesting to see a "maxed" log - subscribing

I thought that hunting those big mobs was supposed to give you better loot with higher MU?
Not sure if i read it right, but you have like 89% return on MV, there must be something big preparing for you. :)

Burning 8K PED ammo / cycling 12K PED daily must however be the most accurate log we'll see. Wish you good luck.

cca 800 ped daily losS?? How the f... do u even continue playing? And,who said that u can profit with eco and maxed gear??

You should calculate how much you are paying landowners as well. That's quite important too.

Have to disappoint you.

1K loss is too much, but this month is at least close :)

About bigger mobs and higher MU, not true, at least for most of them and at this point in time. For example Proterons, their average loot is tt. Same happened with osseos and big hogglos after the last re-balancing (or screwup whichever you like best).
89% is only March of 2012, before that I was able to get to 96% return - added that next to the total (due to some ESI rain on planets and 20k scip)
And,who said that u can profit with eco and maxed gear??
No-one said that, not with proof anyway. But you should get better returns than those not maxed - at least some theories say that.

Well actually my records show that this is not the case. I hunted aranea, evis, osseos non-taxed, ~92% return. I hunted chompers, sumimas, proterons and others taxed, ~92% return

Why are you calculating ammo costs at 102%? And what is TODO?

Why are you calculating ammo costs at 102%? And what is TODO?
102% is not for ammo, I subtract it from return as sales cost and price differences. The inventory calculator sets a % at many things that are not going at that rate (or selling once per month), and there is an auction cost. As said, this is an approximation but it works quite well because I match it regularly with my deposits and ped balance.
TODO is something on MA list (what a surprise heh), it currently is listed in My Items as a placeholder for attached enhancers and vehicles that are left in the field and vanished (not gathered to inventory), maybe something else. Mainly enhancers though.

Look forward to seeing the results of this, should be fun!

Well, I'm not sure it would the same over longer period. Otherwise it's a huge design flaw by MA which would mean you could get higher tt returns in a taxed area than untaxed if you, your friend or a double avatar owns the land.

There is that and also it doesn't make any sense - like MA would allow players to tax Mindark? Yeah, right.

What if all land is taxed 10% (sure MA will say its not, but then again, look at the 90% tt return). Say MA has a rule - the tax is shared with the LA income if the LA owner does not go above 5% - or 2.5% or whatever. For me this rule makes much more sense as the mobs in the LA give same return (or close one) as ones outside it.
Ofc I might be wrong and someone could have been looting 95% tt return on untaxed areas. But my experience does not show that (though the most mobs I have lost most on were indeed in taxed areas, but there are other explanations like using enhancers and bigger decay)

Well, I can't really say about hunting but in mining I used to notice that I was getting 80-85% (flactuates from time to time, but seemed to be around 85%) tt returns on a 5% taxed land. In my mind MA isn't sharing their income with LA owners, but the users are "taxed" twice - once by MA (90% or whatever return) + LA tax.

Anyway, good luck with hunting.

Update week 12-18 March 2012
Mostly busy with iron-shit on Rocktropia and Arkadia, doing it for the attributes. Had a 3k Scoria, still the losses increase, 91% return 13k down in March so far.

Girts,

Thanks for all the info. Disecting it all now and applying it to other info. also +rep thanks for taking the time to share with everyone.

Salty~

Total from 01.01.2011 to 29.02.2012 = -118,425 PED

Yikes. :loco:

Smilgs, you're down with 118K only for cycled peds? Have you added other value of skills and items, armor, weapons you have after selling?

Skills are not included, as I'm not selling them - not yet anyway. The rest of the return is (items, armor, weapons). If I were to include skills gained, it could be close to breaking even. But then again, I would be "buying" a lot of skills I don't really need.
I am not including 505 weapon i got in Arkadia as that was not loot. Same with Mayhem.

well, at least if you leave , you leave with not such a big hole:) Happy for you, so much skilling in one year:)

the thing is... the skills he is taking into effect the chipping in cost... if you include the chipping out... would be significantly LOWER cause of ESI cost :(

Actually I did include the chipping cost in the calculation, would get around 7k per month I think by selling. And also add the ones I got from iron missions, should be close then.

Dnt forget pro hunters loot their esi's ppl.
Very nice post smilgs, ill keep an eye on it.

Very nice log...very interesting to read...I'm curious the difference between you and someone like Star who says he withdraws a living per month playing...Whats the difference? Avatar luck?

Keep it up. GL!
