25th place above said he got the CLD in his inventory, presumably accompanied with an in-game message.

I received an email on June 8th from Justin (Mindark) that I was the 2 nd place winner. I have also received the 7 CLDs in my nventory. Was expecting a public announcement from Mindark - not sure why they didn't post something official.

I did see that. But if that's how he knows then its not very well communicated as it leaves those of us without a prize hanging and not knowing whats happened, other than MA relying on winners posting about it on the forum.

Inactive event even had a info released on the client, that's how active players noticed that there was a event for inactive ppl. Hope we can see a similar post for results of active ones next week.

Firstly .... Dodgy practice to give the same person 2/3/5 positions etc ...wow this game keeps getting worse and worse by the day..... How can 1 person get multiple positions in a comp board ... I'll tell you how because that suits MA to pay whoever they want .... NEVER EVER in the history of mankind you have competitions giving the same person 2/3 positions on the ladder !!!...it's like saying the gold medalist in Olympics also came 5th ..WTF!!! .....answers..

I think the highlighted parts certainly imply that each participant would have only one finish place.

If I was the person in 26th place I would be submitting a support case (and those in the rightful 50th and 100th places).

I'm sorry for the players given the prizes, but MA either have to take them back, or give another 3 CLD to the rightful winners.

The Rules are clear - prizes determined by HSL.

So duplicate lower globals should definitely not count.

It looks as if MA have messed up the prizes again (incredibly!!!). My guess would be that they did a simple SQL query on the results, without removing duplicates; (or they have redefined the words 'Highest' and 'Single').

(I was in the event, 600 kills, no globals, but nearly broke even).

In my understanding, if they said "single" loot it means every avatar has one entry in the top 100 with his highest single loot. Otherwise call it "highest multiple loots" rule.

This rule could be applied by several ways:
- Having the top 100 loots as now, and not giving reward to a second position. But then, who to give it to?
- Having a single avatar loots, then just pick the right numbers. So back to square 1.


Their rules are never clear, and when it seem they are, they don't follow them.

It looks like the person who compiled the list has used the same method as MM. The top 5-10 are checked and the rest are a cut and paste from the results list.

Winners (not entrants) will be determined by their HSL. In my case, my highest loot was 187ped, which was also 50th place, so valid to win. I would not disagree with anyone in the slightest that MA have a history and continue to word their communications very poorly, however I can't interpret them as incorrect with the given information (bonus bias neg reps come here).

I must say I also assumed from the email they sent out that only people's top loot would count towards the leaderboard.

Like you say, the email only mentioned that winners would be determined by their HSL not entrants. But what would have happened if your HSL was 33rd and your second best was 50th? You wouldn't win 50th prize since it wasn't your HSL, but nobody else would win 50th either. The rules could have done with being clearer.

Indeed, I also assumed it would be single entrant per participant. I also agreed that the possible interpretation of the rules I have given, gives no clear indication of the result in the scenario you suggest either. It would help any controversy if the rules defining an event were clear and allowed no misinterpretation. I'd like to see MA/PP teams spend a bit more time communicating this better to avoid any dissent.

Being simplistic...

... it looks to me like MA simply forgot to aggregate the data when they built the list of entries.

I think the English they used was clear enough to set a very specific expectation which most of us had.

While it's possible they might have had some other plan in mind and simply have a PR department with poor English skills that cannot articulate the terms of an important competition (and arguably knowing they have poor English skills, fail to provide a concrete example of how the selection process will work) I find it easier to assume they made one simple mistake in processing the data.

I'd wonder if they have any way to identify those users who were sent the emails and confirm that the short list of qualified entries is in fact only made up of those users, but that's another kettle on it's own really.

So Occam's razor suggests to me that data aggregation was simply missed.
