For pirates who no longer want to be active, you will always be a pirate. In RL, once you murder, you will ALWAYS be a murderer. The best you can do, IMO, is become a pirate killer.
Micahel->Calypso

He was very friendly on FOMA, helped me out, showed me around, talked nice. I scored 10ped Force Nexus, decided to put everything in storage at the racetrack. The second I appeared back at FOMA, he hopped in his quad and left. I was seconds into pvp when I was hit for the first time. Got 8 shots off before I was toast. Sucker laid in wait inside FOMA for me. Makes me feel special. How much does one get for scrap metal? There were TWO got into his ship, musta had a gunner!

If you believe you do not belong on this list, PM me, and I will note it with a *denied*

Add your story if you wish, I will edit this to put it to the top and update this list.
I have given an example of format, and story, so it should be easy.

Will begin new thread when I have enough data on how to overcome space pirates. Until then, I am posting that info here. Please post your ideas and advice on how to either put them out of business, or make their job harder. Thanks for following.

Scam update

Did not ever see being added to the GL of the XXXII, but my inventory was clear, so I clicked on the summon. Saw someone run in front of me, then was floating in space. Killed by EarnestJ. The other person got killed by Ozoner. It is a scam. They add all their targets to the GL, summon, and kill any respondants.

Took a cheap taxi quad from RT once , really weird as was we drove straight to a pirate and got shot down,

Was I suprised ? nope , I didnt bring any loot btw .

Sad thing is that this sort of behaviour only hurts the honest Taxi owners

Good Manners

I'm sure there is/was a pirate list somewhere.

If so, it does not show up with a search. I always figure it polite to do a search for topics such as this before posting, to consolidate. I didn't find one when I searched for "pirate, pirate list, or pirate names". Any suggestions for keywords on this post, as for making it easier for ppl to find.

I admit, the whole reason for posting is that feeling of powerlessness. I was armed with lasers and interacted with the player before he cost me money(in welding wire). Id hoped he was man enough not to tax me. I was wrong. And as another player said, he would have just laughed, danced, if I unleashed my "word voodoo" on him.

Maybe posts like this can cost pirates some marks. Had I read this and KNOWN how despicable he really was, I would have just logged off, and hoped it would have been clear later. Or got a gunner for the ride home.

In the end, its a crap shoot, and smart pirates hunt where the loot is. Luckily, I was bare, which gets me back too, how much can they earn shooting down a lootless fellow player?

Should this topic be locked?

Again, why, excatly?

This is an honest discussion, that has been done before, of something alot of us hold in common. It is both fun and productive. Banning this post would be like banning piracy. Piracy exists for a reason. So do forums.

notice, this VERY SIMILAR post is still unlocked:
https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/...-bounty-hunt-PVP-event-for-space-knights-only
since Febuary!

I adjure that THIS is one of the very reasons why forums exist. (WTH does adjure mean anyway?) Forums are for the free sharing of useful information. I can see why pirates would want it locked.

The problem with threads like this is that you simply offer a list of names and the accusation of these people being pirates... There is no proof of any of these people actually being a pirate (although some are ofc known to be and even take delight in the attention).

That said, I am not sure if the thread will be locked or not. Being a pirate is, after all, not against the game rules... So it would be if someone named in the list says he is not a pirate and you refuse to remove him despite having no evidence that he is (and if he then feels that being on the list damages his reputation).

Excellent and Thoughtful!

So if someone accuses me of being a miner, or a hunter, when I am a crafter, It CAN effect my reputation. I will add a note to the main post, very helpful. Being a pirate IS part of the game, and therefore, accusing me of being a miner cuz I mine or a hunter cuz I hunt is not harmful, meerly opionion.

Im not sure what the process of locking posts are, but it is fair that the burden of proof lies on the accusers, and if someone accuses me of providing false information, it is easy enough for MA to sort out. They have all the data. What IS their ships reputation? And am I a pirate for shooting down a pirate?

If someone murders, they are a murderer, if they steal, they are a theif. If they are ACCUSED of being a murderer or a theif, in ENTROPIA, there is an all seeing eye.

Nothing wrong with making your own list.

Don't add other peoples hearsay though. Anyone can make up anything about anyone in this game and you'll never hear a peep from Mindark about who is right or wrong.

Mindark does NOT own this forum and won't be giving you information on who is or is not a pirate. They won't be policing your list for you.

I could give you a whole bunch of names and you would never know if I was telling the truth or not.

So, the best list a private one.

Yup been shot down 2 times , not going to name names though , as I cant remember them lol .
Was I carrying loot , nope .(never am)
Was i grateful , YES .. Lots of lovelly crafting skills ! If pirates want to help pay for my skills then keep on shooting :p

FOMA: Like jakels by the watering hole

Im not sure if they are workiing together, but I was there when micjack shot down a friend, and then, when I went to help someone else out, was shot down, again, by ismokealot or whatever his name was.

again, no loot.

The reason why I keep asking how much do pirates get for scrap is I wonder if it pays for ammo and repairs.

Taken a notice

well, ever been pinned down by pirates? They have taken a notice, of course, and in response didn't bother wasting words in the forums, but me in space. What is really cool is when your like, floating in space and they gloat over your dieing husk! I was pinned down in this way for over an hour on caly station by an admirerer. Isn't love grand?

Answered a few questions tho, and correct me if I've been led astray. One does not suffer hits to reputation for killing pirates. I have shot at them, but avoided killing them because I assumed murder was murder and with the stiff, uncaring rules of a program, one could be labeled a pirate by killing them. This, I am told, is not true. You get POSITIVE points to ur reputation for shooting them down.

Also, it seems there is no scrap. I'll tell you once I shoot one down, but it seems that if you have no loot, then you are just a waste of ammo and gas.

Which leads to another question, is it a waste of fuel just sitting in space?

The other is that there actually are space monsters, I mean besides the pirates. Havn't seen one yet. Don't know if I want to.

I was thinking that pirating and pirate hunting is a type of PVP where players are more equally matched. It is only skill and computer speed that effects the outcome, players can't buy there way to easy wins like in the arena.

Any hints as to combat training? How about a starfleet acedemy for fighter pilots? I have seen the ACE OF SPACE trainer, but have not tried it yet. If you do, post reviews at origin post pls.

I have been targeted by pirates for being a snitch. So the only defense is to stay out of space, or graduate to full fledged ranger.

One thing by going public with post like this will be that certain folks will love to shoot you down whenever they can^^

Since you shoot down your own soc-mates, and you shoot down people who have gone out of their way to help your soc-mates, I don't think the OP (or anyone) has any reason to fear public discussion causing them more grief in space than they already receive.

Just be honest, that's all I am asking.

It doesn't matter what I say, and it doesn't matter what the OP guy says, you will treat us the same regardless.

Claiming otherwise is just pure hypocrisy.

Maybe i miss something out of all your posts, but i guess its just newb-style chatting ; )

How astute! Maybe you do miss something. I remember taking quad flights and worrying about pirates. I remember flying for the first time, and being worried by pirates. I remember the first time being shot down, and then I stopped worrying. I started LOOKING FOR YOU.

I know this doesn't worry you, its part of the game. But it gives me something to look forward too. Shooting YOU down.

One thing by going public with post like this will be that certain folks will love to shoot you down whenever they can^^v

Well, One thing by going public with post like this will be that certain folks will love to shoot you down whenever they can.

As for the psudo list, it is a repost of another list of pirates and pirate funders. No one has disputed their link or activity in piracy, except in a vague and general way.

Do you dispute the validity of the assertion that ismokedopealot and micjack are active pirates?

Im so sorry, uhm, do you not think the above people pirate?

As for the posters below, I imagine OP means Original Poster. This is not where we engage in verbal dogfights, but I feel ya. This is where YOU, oh wise and benevolent ones, help people who think pirates SUCK. The pirate, in his post above, did more to that end then the two of you did with this oral swashbuckeling.

but thanks

Poll: Have you ever been shot down by a pirate?
Answer: yes (names already in the list)

Will the thread be locked?
Not because of the OP, piracy is a legal profession in EU.
May be because of flaming and trolling in the thread, thou that's not very likely either - flaming the pirates doesn't seem to qualify as flaming on this forum, and i have yet to see flaming by pirates.
It's surprising, i know but i'd be a hypocrite if i try to hide this unpleasant truth.

Is the OP clueless space noob?
Yes, he certainly is, but that's how we all started out.
Regardless, posting the updated list was brave - it's useful for space travelers (even if some info there may be a bit outdated).

+ rep

please folks, stay cool don't spoil this thread

What's a space pirate?

Lootless mob, what else.

a few days ago i was going to RT, and mid way into planet this guy was shooting at me,This guy SUCKS cause i was flying with vtol and he couldnt shot me down.

Reducing Pirate Booty

yep, I said booty.

Ok, I promised to offer ideas on how to eliminate pirates, or at least reduce the profitability. Please offer your suggestions. Here goes:

1: Dont carry loot. Or carry one dung.
2: Get a porcupine and train as many gunners as you can. Engage whenever possible.
3: Use Motherships. Handy way to get in some repairing skills too. Try entropiatransport.com
4: If you have to fly loot, bring a gunner, and an escort(sounds expensive)
5: Hunt them just as they make a kill. Steal their loot.

I know, for sure, that the pirates are monitoring this post. It helps. I am not posting stragety, but enlisting help. They kno Im a noob in space, and that my computer is too slow to make an impact alone. Now they also kno that my goal isn't to hunt them alone, but to gain the skills I need, and help others gain the skills THEY need, to fight them en masse. In that way, I CAN make an impact.

The way to shut me up wasn't by pinning me down and refusing me to use their space. Had they laid low and not presented themselves as a problem to me, I wouldn't have been forced to try and do something about it. I have no choice, its either do something, or stop going in space. If I can't fight them in space, maybe I can find someone who can, encourage and arm someone who can. Maybe HERE, in the forums is where we win.

my vote:

Yes, several times.

And I say: so what! if you are traveling in space than you take the risk to be the victim of a pirate. Every time I was shot it costed me some welding wires and I gained a few skill-points. I also did a lot of travels with loot, but never was caught. You just need to know where to fly.
After space was open for everyone I also shot down and looted a lot of people. I stopped, because you normally pay more for cells than you gain from loot.
The only thing I am angry about is that I do not stand a chance today against the "professional" pirates. too long out of training. :(:(

All it takes is not to carry loot . If everyone didnt carry any , then the pirates would leave . Unless of course they like paying for my skills with their ammo :D

seems logical....but

All it takes is not to carry loot . If everyone didnt carry any , then the pirates would leave . Unless of course they like paying for my skills with their ammo :D

But there is no way for a pirate to tell if one is carrying loot, and then there is the fact that while leaving FOMA, I was shot down five or six times in a row, within an hour. That is called pinned down. The last time I tried to leave, Vickie and pigbenis were just waiting, no thrusters, for me to enter PVP. Maybe for normal people, you have no loot, you get shot down once. Im not normal tho. I have been refused to use space.

but you are right. As are the pirates, I am a special case and have been targeted for posting this list. Not only should one not carry loot in space, but one should not try to do anything about it.

We live in a world that we allow to be controlled by the pirates.
we allow it.

if you get pinned down, log off go and have a cup of tea , go for a walk , watch TV , whatever .
Then they are wasting their time and you are doing something interesting...
