Hi all,

I have been writing a book for a couple of years now, and have gotten 140 pages ish into it now. But one of the main characters still doesnt have a name. Currently he is known as EVIL1, just so i can replace later on.

And as you have guessed it, he is wholeheartedly evil. Born evil, or i should say created evil. But has a human body. Tall, over 7feet, built like a brick s*** house. Long black hair, red eyes....i think you get the picture.

He controls abnormal creatures

But i still havent come up with a decent name for him yet.

If anyone has any, even random, suggestions please don't hesitate in posting here. If it ever gets published (which i highly doubt) i will of course name and thank you. And also i will give a small ped reward (maybe 50 ped) to the winner. There is no time limit on this, more a bit of fun to help me out.

PS i like religious contexts (for the name, that is)

EDIT: on a completely seperate bit, i have finished and self published another book;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B013EIINQM?*Version*=1&*entries*=0

If anyone would like a free copy, please pm me with your email address and whether you would like a kindle version, or a standard word doc.

Why not Acanthus? Refers to the greek word for thorny, and also is the name of a plant that's generally unpleasant.

Mindark  . . . but the readers would mentally pronounce it more like Min-Dark....:eyecrazy:

Evil2? After all everyone knows that Number 2 always stinks more than number 1. ;)

Seriously though, m suggestion - instead of making a one dimensional character and naming him now spend the next 140 pages giving him a 'good side'. One dimensional characters don't tend to keep readers attention. Every character ought to have some sort of psychological rational to their actions, etc.

A few questions to consider before going on (ask em for ALL the characters, not just this one)

If he controls the 'abnormal creatures' telepathically the 'Mind-Ark' pronunciation might be a better descriptive fit, even if it doesn't 'feel' as evil.

..Ezuraath..

or he is so evil he can get away with a very very regular name...Now that is Evil....waaaait for it...waaaaait for it...*play jaws music*...aaaand it is........

Not exactly MY idea, just saw it :p

And no idea if he has to have first and last name. But this could be quite cool....
Ravana Meodark

It doesn't matter how one-dimensional or irrational the characters are as long as the protagonist is a Mary Sue.

Betty - I think most guys would turn very evil if called Betty :)

how about Akuma? literary means demon/eat your heart and steal your shoes evil if I'm not mistaken

or call him Shirley! and for religion: Shirley Temple.... oh wait, is that name taken already?

You got close with Meodark, but I was thinking Neodark...

I don't know if the name 'Mordahn' exists anywhere.. I'll throw that name into the hat...

Is this a fictional world? Or does this occur in specific portions of the real world? Is the "flavor" of the story American (USA)? Old world fantasy? Sci-fi Space? Russia?

Mordrell :) created this name for my necromancer in Daiblo II and use it everytime I make an evil character

Evil One isn't that bad. I would call him Pink Eye behind his back. Scratch or Claw. Normaly something that strong is going to have several tittles and names.

Spronky Flotgliff.

Nebulyon Golgotha

Ch'arik G'h'st

Ch'arik = evil in Arabic
G'h'st = hated in old Yiddish

OR

Malum Dominum (or Mal Dominum)
means "evil master" in Latin

OR

Mal Mestre
means "evil master" in Galic

I have explored mor3 than my fare share of what life has to offer and this was one stage in my life.

Its called ceremonial magik (summoning) it was and is heavily practiced and the closest thing you will find to your characters "abbilities" This one is called the Goetia PDF link to a copy of the grimoire itself.

Ever heard of Faust ?? Well this is it........

Azrael

On a side note if you haven't read Neil Gaimen's American Gods I highly recommend it.

Side note 2: sometimes it's best to be straightforward with names. I'm thinking of Hiro (Hero) Protagonist in Snow Crash and the man in black from King's The Dark Tower series.
