Entropia should be marketed as a HOBBY and not a GAME.

The hobbies I am thinking of are those that require significant time and money and may or may not have potential for profit. This can be many different things, from building birdhouses, being a musician in a band, photography, weekend racer, etc, etc.

What do you think?

Video games are a hobby I play three other games. Concept design and animation are my hobby and my job. Fine art and photography are just hobbies but at times have made me some profit. There is potential to incorporate portions of all my hobbies into EU in some sense. So EU can be both IMHO no need to label it since I think people will all define it differently. I am not sure if it would change how EU is perceived.

For me its my entertainment. I dont sweat over money so I dont really need to worry about ped card size .
So for me I guess its a hobby ??

Others choose to play in a different way . Great thing is , here we can choose our own path.

Most RL people will tell you games and Entropia are waste of time, but fishing, drinking beer or playing cards are not.
Entropia must be mix of game/hobby/lifestyle/facebook/casino/second-life/entertainment/virtual-reality/relaxation/job/investment/you-add-more

This is not quite true because any hobby has a potential for profit including this game if you want to consider it as a hobby. It all depends on how good you are as well as other qualities. If you become really good at something it's not all that strange to find your "hobby" become your profession e.g. if you like playing guitar as a hobby and you were to become exceptionally good at it then I imagine you could make money from playing in a band, roadshows maybe even one of those people who play an instrument in a shopping street, until they get "discovered".

The real question is how do you get good at something? One ingredient is practice over and over. More time spent should continually improve your abilities. It's not always the case though if people keep repeating the same mistakes over and over...

So I there is a lot to it but it depends on a few key qualities I think...

We have to stop thinking of ourselves as superior or inferior, or this or that.

In the sense that we are using false negatives to put ourselves above or below other players.

These terms are simply getting in the way of what we all want as players, which is simply to play the game.

Once we get over these foolish ideas, we might get to play a game where all play their part.

At the moment, MA has allowed us to imagine there is a distance between us. This is not the case. Once we allow one another to play, all will have their time.

Well, games are hobbies more or less? I would call it a "Virtual world game"

It is a game.

But, also a Hobby.

Skiing, is a sport, but also a hobby.
Football a sport, but a hobby.
Guitar an instrument, but a hobby

he individual makes it a hobby, so you can't claim this is a hobby, as it is up to an individual.

Long story short, this is a game.

not all hobbies cost money. kicking kittens/puppies, stealing candy from babies, furiously faping to pictures of paula dean, talking crap on forums... etc... all free

your argument is bad, and you should feel bad.

I agree with those stating a game is a hobby :)

And in marketing terms, I think "game" sounds more flashy than hobby, which also has association with stamp collecting or collecting those paper ribbons around cigars...

As hobbies go, its thankfully been a hell of a lot cheaper than my excursions into Sailing, Diving, Horses, etc.

Funny post - I dont think it really matters but for me it is a game that is my hobby

Feels more like work, sometimes, lol.
