FYI: Cyrene - failure to oganize the TEN event

I am really tired with Cyrene's inability to organize a TEN event.
For information, events successfully happened on Arkadia, RT, Calypso. However Cyrene wanted to organize a PVP event for this. My understanding is that technically, the platform provider is unable to provide solution to organize such an event.
I agree that part is not the fault of Cyrene. However, knowing that the prizes are pieces of unique armor set and plates and I (among others) would like a chance to complete the set, wouldn't it be better to organize any kind of event (hunting/mining/crafting/mixed) rather than just not doing anything since February/March when all of the other events took place?
Personally, I will avoid to visit Cyrene until they fix it and advice anyone agreeing this is not a fair situation to do the same.

Cyrene seems to have run into some problems. I suspect they don't have enough staff to run/develop a PP. I forget now when the soft launch was...where is the promised hard launch, the mechs etc?
I agree though, they should do something different for the TEN event. A simple hunting or mining competition. Did you post this thread in the Cyrene forum to see what they say?

Just because the screwed up with something diffrent? ?They are new PP trying to do something diffrent in the universe its not always that easy to do what they want, apart from Caly other PP always struggle to do what they want. Did you loose and money due to this event?
 
I'm stuck with a unique 6 part armor set for 5 months with no real updates. Cyrene is the only PP that has screwed up. And imho they can solve it quite easily just changing this event to be something that is feasible with the platform.
For me this is lost money, yes. And quite a lot of it too.

maybe dont visit calypso cuz they screwed so many things too?

on a serious note. I know what you mean, you had plans of one way or another getting a full set and without the event the part doesn't exist to win or buy/trade ect for.

Well, I no like the pvp. but I hope some type of event comes along

I think Cyrene is dead in the water unless they put out a decent PP update on the 29th. They have been in soft mode for way to fucking long imo. As for TEN Ed items, the only planet consistently putting out new stuff is Caly, the new teleport chips are cool, Ark is barely doing anything and RT gave up.

NI LOL they are only present as a place to go rather than a active functioning planet. Maybe Toulan will replace NI? who knows.

The deadline is looming for Cyrene...and its in 2 weeks!

The TEN Ed items is added by Mindark I think, TP chip TEN ed is also lootable in Arkadia. I think every PP can barely doing anything since the PP VU keep postponing for various reason, only Mindark are able to\ add stuffs in without a VU.

Just as a thought for Bjorn...

... "new stuff" in terms of what this thread is talking about (items) does not strike me as something I "really really want" in the first place.

While I do admit that more variety in some areas would be nice (clothing, furniture, vehicles maybe, and "composite items" built up from the Component pieces of each planet's BP books) I don't really want a bazillion new weapons, armours, tools etc...

Arkadia has delivered plenty of "content" though - landscape and mob layout adjustments, reviews of their creatures, minerals, quest improvements, bug fixes and so on. They are putting an awful amount of work in. And in case you'd forgotten there is an entire "Underground" area that will probably go live with a bang at some point in the not too distant future.

So while I do appreciate Girts' position and agree that there should be SOME plan made for releasing the final part of this armour set in a TEN event of some sort, I disagree with most of your casual assessments about the value of planet partner releases.

I would far, far, FAR rather have a well-constructed and beautifully maintained and looked after clean planet than I would an item-cluttered bug-ridden wasteland.

Looking forwards to a Universe in which PPs can dream big and realise those dreams on the platform.
 
I am just wondering, why do you feel cyrene should focus on some silly event for the rich and spoiled calypso ubers?

Their job is to make a planet that works well for new players so that people might stay there when they have the hard launch. Giving you some uber item will hardly contribute to that.

I don't think its always easy for Calypso either, even with having most of the players.

I guess Cyrene will be in soft mode until they get all the systems they need/want. Looking around, a lot of people seem to be using Cyrene Gear, so it can't be that dead in the water.

Getting mechs depends on MA, as well as potentially all the faction things they want.
 
First of all because it's a TEN event, not ELEVEN event, and every other planet partner except NI which imho is dead has done so.
Second, I feel a strong socialist/commie line of thinking. Who said I/other skilled avatar owners are rich and spoiled?
Third, the event must not be for ubers. I just want a chance to participate or buy the armor piece from even the poor and nonspoiled winner of the event, I don't discriminate like some do.

Wasn't the Cyrene Ten event postponed due to the problems in the pvp engine. Where players could put plates onto the armor, so the only people capable of fixing it are MA and they seem to busy screwing things up atm.

The Ten event on Ark wasn't for me, hell I've had two globals in the last four - five years and in their event you had to get multiple globals in mining, crafting and hunting within two - three weeks. No additional mobs or spawns were added.

Has the Caylpso Ten event even ended as we've had another announcement of another Robot invasion. How long has it been running now 7-8 months?

You hit the Nail on this one... Cyrene did not have their pvp system properly implemented. The problem with the plates was only part of the issue, however many players were not going back to Cyrene after that poor showing by the Cyrene Dev team. They could not code in a restriction for items and armor properly <even NI could>, players were entering the HUB with armor plates no knowing the intention was they were not allowed. In the beginning there was no notice that they were not allowed, and yet Cyrene decided to threaten the players with a BAN if the continued to cheat. The warning of a BAN was the first communication between the planet and players, and quite disgraceful.

I was "born" on NI, and did not realize what a "soft launch" was, until I was told the problems NI had faced should not be happening on a functioning planet. After a year, and much gained knowledge it was time to move on.... I was heading to Cyrene when I heard of the BAN for the plate use, and decided to turn around, and move on. If any new PP wants the players respect, they need to have a functioning planet, and competent dev team. Even mindstar had decided it best to take her leave. No need to be nice, the event issues were the fault of Cyrene, and the blame lies with them.

Speculation! + I wouldn't point fingers as Cyrene dev, if I have lived with the situation for over 8-10 months.

Well when the Ten events were announced they said that they would be taking place through out the year across all planets. So far the vast majority of events have happened on one - Calypso. If they're counted as ten events though is anyones guess with so many happening. Remember when we used to play in EU even though there wasn't an event on ;)

With that reasoning, any kind of sports event should be stopped since like 90% of the participants have no chance of winning.

Indeed. If their chance of winning was based on who had the best turbo sneakers or the titanium alloy modified football helmet.
 
Instead it's based on who has the most money to invest in doping that cant be traced. Its completely different.

Do you live in the real world or some mythical wonderful place where god made everyone equal and you get things just for being unique and special?

Maybe you should realise that girts has put more time, money and effort into PE than you currently (and likely will ever) have put into it. Some people get more because they're lucky, some because they try, and some because that's the way of the world.

Pray tell, why exactly should you have equal chance to get one of the best armour pieces in game? (Oh and I assume you would want this event to be free, too, sir?)
