but they could have easily increased the minimum crit dmg on the patch.. coz i have been shooting same mobs with same gear for 2 weeks now and after patch the crits are much higher than before.. but the rate of crits could be just my imagination because they hurt more now

Crits have worked two ways over the years: either as 2 * a normal hit (normal hit is random between 0.5 and 1.0 * mob_max_dmg), or as a normal hit + mob_max_dmg. Lately it has been the latter. If they changed back to the former then it would reduce crit damage.

You'd have to really show some compelling data to make anyone who actually checks these things quantitatively believe there's a completely new crit system, because again, what you're saying gets said by someone in the same vague way after every single VU, and yet the mechanism hasn't actually been changed. Check your log for before and after the VU. If you can show it quantitatively the relevant charts etc can be updated.

What does change is individual mobs, especially new mobs. Several people have said feffox seem to have been adjusted. If the mob you're for whatever reason not identifying is feffox then you are probably seeing the result of a change in damage type or size of mob_max_dmg.
