Mindark to Close Mexico Office
Gothenburg, Sweden – 2014-06-24
Mindark PE AB, developer and publisher of Entropia Universe, a real-money MMO
game, closes its office with thirteen employees in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Mindark’s new CEO, Klas Moreau:
”Today, most of our platform development takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden. Being at
two sites is not cost-effective. We will now focus all development and customer support
to Gothenburg.”

If Ericsson wasn't one of the major employers in Sweden, I highly doubt MA would find any talent at all with experience. The choice of working for MA is much more of a logistical commuting choice for these locals than it is the for finding work that best fits their skill set.

On that note, excellent business decision by whoever made it. It is a move in the right direction, and helps build some confidence on my end that the company might be moving toward better management. Mexican support has been a bad thing for the game <removed>.

very nice to see the new chief doing something needed right away.
whats up next? reducing withdraw time?
 
Not sure if it's a bad sign (so little money they can't outsource even to Mexico) or a good sign (so much money they can afford to hire locally) :)

Not knowing the financial details particular to MA, all I can speak to is the fact that things have changed in general since they opened the Mexico office. The always rampant corruption and bribery has become very expensive for the foreign businesses that operate there. Security gets to be more of a concern constantly as violence is not under control even in the nicer areas. Drug gangs have attacked tourist towns, restaurants, casinos, etc.

All of this mixed with the cost and logistics issues of having an office halfway around the world may well make the cost to benefit ratio not look as good as it did when they opened the Mexican facility.

I'm not so sure about improved support.

I sent a support case 6 days ago asking for assistance with depositing. I was, and still am, having difficulty, and I do not know how to resolve my issue.

I have not even gotten the standard cookie cutter response (or any response).


I can only suppose that my money is not wanted.


Perhaps the closure of the offices in Mexico have delayed my support case.
Hopefully, the situation will improve.

10 ppl staff is not enough to answer support cases, let alone procesing withdrawals and developing game. Let's hope new CEO is some miracle-worker.

MA probably had plans to expand the staff more and if the office in Mexico had a bigger staff it would probably be cost effective. But an around ten personal office is probably too small to make it cost effective to have an additional office.

At times, loot is more stable than the CEO position at MindArk.

Seemingly especially for Swedish CEO's. Last one survived... was it a week? A month?

Same here. When i read this news i figured out why.
My problem got solved thou and pretty fast too, even if there was no answer. Why not, i need the results not lot of talking. :)

Yup, nothing gonna survive the heat death of the universe.
