Stable Estates

So..... a few thoughts...

All pets will require stabling, with about a dozen stable owners, half of which are on Caly - and one even on NI!

The new BADs will be trying to drum up how much.. 2 million dollars? for marketing and development... but the owners of BADs will presumably want a ROI. BAD activities will take place exclusively at stables.

The pet fighting system will run on smart phone platforms as well.

So, it looks like we have a lot of people potentially doing stuff with pets, and those invested in BADs will presumably also want stabling to function well. This puts an incredible burden but also opportunity on stable owners... BUT... they will have to work with the system that MA provides. Knowing how difficult managing the pilot/gunner/guest lists is on an MS, for example, and other tasks around MS ownership, it is a pretty risky thing to be investing money and presumably a lot of time in as well.

Historically, there have been many things implemented in EU and then left to rot instead of being fixed when things go wrong. Except there is no rot maybe, just no/few players taking part...

One of the problems of offering 'fun' is the learning curve and fairness of the systems as participants grow, but as yet we do not even know if pets will be fighting to the death, fighting for honour or other rewards etc. Maybe not even MA know that yet... but what WE know about MA is that once they get their money, development and improvement priorities "seem" to go right down the list.

I'm even tempted to not even try taming, because too many percent of my peds will be trying to go to various investors in a system which may stay online for a few years, but may also be similarly popular to Ancient Greece - a wonderful place, by the way, but so so so unvisited!

AND - what happens if you must take a new pet to a stable within a timer of.... let's say 30 mins , or lose it to starvation. I'd quite like to have a wild boar farm, maybe, but I'd be at the mercy of the NI stable owner and his/ability to even keep a stable up and running on NI.

If MA can provide (a lot) more details (which even then will just be words not actual implementation I can see), then just maybe I will look at these developments more favourably. Until then I will think of this as 'mining in space', 'fishing' etc!

I have to say it takes quite a bit of chutzpah to try to sell expensive new real estate as part of a system that disappeared and has been neglected for years and is not even back yet...

Yet they will sell, yet people will overpay for them.

and yet the universe will keep on going, with or without us!

And most of them will get abandoned after a while.

Kachink gord the cash, Tameup:D

... and one even on NI!

I think this shows their attitude to business, which is fairly modern and belligerent. Basically what they are saying with that is "well it's not our fault if they are stupid enough to buy that" basically it's bait, for someone with no sense.

Question: What happens to the guys who buy the stables on Next Island and Rocktropia when MA finally closes those two planets down?

I don't think it is possible planet to shut down. Worst case scenario is no updates.

But if we imagine it is possible it will be moved to other planet probably.

EDIT: but what happents to the guys I really don't know. May be catch a cold or something.

i hope im not bidding against michael vick

I think the larger problem is what happens when stables go inactive and you have hard time to find a stable to service your pets, not stables on not very active planets.

As for the cock fight aspect... do you kill mobs?

It's not the same. Players think of their avatars and their pets as "people". Mobs are not thought of as people.

Personally I really dislike the Battle Arenas idea using pets and find it quite distasteful. Yes, I know it's only a game but I still don't like it.

You know, it kind of creeps me out, too. Then again, you acquire a pet by whipping an animal into submission, so I guess it follows. :dunno:

Just out of curiosity, do you guys feel the same way about Pokémon, where the player beats animals to near death only to trap them in tiny balls, after which they use them to fight other animals (either captured by others, or knocking wild ones senseless and leaving on the ground) or stash in storage forever? :)

I guess it just goes to show how impossible it is to be objective as a human. :)

Really not happy with this announcement but other, more skilled tamers have already said what i would have said.

Yeah, I guess whipping them into submission puts them in a different category.

It's to early to pass comments on new stables, at least wait till their functions and uses are declared before starting the witch hunt :D.

I just hope the tamers who skilled in old system are not dissapointed, they waited long time for this.

The new taming system must be improvement on the old one, which lets face it was extremely lacking imo.

MA cant forget EntropiaDex with All Pokemons ops i mean Mobs! :p

What is Pokémon?

Never played Pokemon so no idea how it works but reading your explanation I haven't missed much.

Well I grew up with it as a kid :silly2: basically, that was a VAST oversimplification that is mostly used as a kind of parody statement for how silly/cruel it sounds when you put it like that...

Basically, the main idea of those games and the anime is that you create bonds and evolve with your captured Pokémon through fighting and overcoming obstacles together. There has been some PETA concerns about it "promoting animal violence", but never anything very serious that I can remember.

To be honest, I personally don't think it's that big a deal to have that in a game, considering we already have hunting and man-on-man fighting (often with smaller weapons that take a long, long time to kill the animal or person), but to each their own :)

Is it me or these deeds not listed yet? Couldn't find in auction.

I'm thinking about getting one, but that all depends if the usual suspects with mountains of in game made ped and tons of other assets want 'all' the toys.

I'm not depositing big for nothing, that would piss me off more than not winning at auction.
Did that for motherships, what a waste of deposit time that was.

Well nn

Rick

So you are pissed off because someone else values something higher and is willing to pay for it? Were is my new ferrari for 30k? Everything else is a ripoff. Oh wait? Werent you the guy whining on this topic constantly?

PS : I thought Toulan was supposed to be the Arabian Nights theme?

How many frikin Themes is Toulan supposed to have had?!? First it was Aladdin themed, then it was Mindforce themed, then fkn Taming themed?!?

 Can we have betslike on fighting cocks/Horse racing?!

I am pretty sure gambling is not permitted at all and anyone caught doing it would be immediately and permanently banned, so no. Which is weird cause this is ofcourse just like cock fighting or pit fighting where gambling is the obvious thing to do :scratch2: And guess what, they WILL

I think with the stables basically MA have told you what they will do, so you just need to decide if: A, you beleive them
B, there will be demand for the services

I think it will work personally but I wont invest because taming isn't interesting to me

I think you got it wrong (as most people think of most things in Entropia).
Stables are not for profit, they are for fun. You don't think it's fun then don't buy it. Same as mothership. You think MS owners made a lot of money - no. They had some fun with them - those that bought them for fun. Those that bought them for profit can suck my dickenzien (see how I added the 'enzien'?)

Why would you buy a MS for fun, a fighter would be far more fun than a freighter. Well it would be if there was anything to do in space.

I'll bet most thought they'd be the only ones able to move between planets and then when MA announced that space was lootable pvp

From the sounds of if the stables won't be needed to train or look after a pet, only to accelerate the process. If it's too expensive, too cumbersome or too convoluted then people won't bother.

The real value will only be realised when the arenas are active. But if MA were committed to improving game play then the stables would have remained free.

The arenas will probably be the Christmas sale items / investment oportunities.

See how much people are spending for multy crew ships in SC so they can have fun with friends with no chance to earn even a dolla.

It says specialised training in stables...i'm interpreting this the way i'm hoping it is but if you want Fido the snablesnot to do tricks and run after you around the map, you don't need stables. If you want Fido to learn to kill you take him to a stable stall and pump steroids in.

Not sure about the part with selling, I'm guessing no more auctionable deeds? or will it be just a special shop in which you can see the mob instead of seeing only the deed?

As long as you still need a whip and a brush to play with pets, all is fine, all this stable talk will just be eye candy for those who can afford it.
