[Videos] Trying out some Level 13 Amps!

If anyone has ever thought the idea of using Level 13 amps against their better judgement, like me, this is an example of how the mining trips can go.

I will continue to do a few of these as long as I can afford them, which won't be that long. They are great for skills and quests, but for the economy, not so much.

There will be more in this thread as time passes by. The list of all runs so far is found at the bottom of this first post, and I will update it when I do a new trip.

Remember though, that the forum will prevent editing it after a while, so eventually I won't be able to add more here, so it's still a good idea to check the last post of the thread to keep updated.

As long as they work and Calypso and has a better price or the same amplification of finds (or better) I don't see a problem. Need to study them first though, but Entropedia fails to load at the moment... Or is extremely slow anyway.

I don't know if I'll hit that, but I at least hope that I will get a big Hall of Fame.

Finding a 3000 ped deposit should be relatively easy with a Level 13 Amp if you have the ped to spare.

The biggest problem with this is the markup value. If I could get a hold of these amps cheaper, it would make all the difference.

At a 110% - 120%-ish cost it might even become profitable.

Those 50 % extra market value totally ruins the runs... :/

I wouldn't exactly complain if I looted a Level 13 UL one or something :p
 
Nice videos, I enjoyed watching. Run #3 is sad though. But I'm sure you'll find a big ol tower eventually, just don't forget to hit Record before hand. :)

I didn't know they allowed people to post porn on YouTube, because those were clearly three videos of someone getting screwed.
 
I think you are doing rather well there Tommy.

I just tried this and I hit 2 Lyst, one of which was global and one narc global for the grand total of 140 ped tt return.

This is why I don't bother playing much anymore.

Sadly I didn't make a video of it.
 
These videos are gonna scare people away from mining if they continue like that.

Hitting a normal Large is gonna be like 2000 PED though, so I am hoping for that to even things out.

It's a shame there aren't more UL amps available than it is, because if I found an UL Lvl 13 amp I would be mining all day. :p

Did you use a Lvl 13 or Terra 10 amp?

I used a level 13 same as you. My mining skills are not that high though, maybe has something to do with it, but it was NRF after NRF for me, tp'd all over the place too.
 
Thanks for posting the videos = I can enjoy the thrill but dont' have to risk my peds (i mean that in a nice way)

It is a dang shame - and I think mining is so messed up anymore, but I wont' say anything more negative

This run turned out a tad bit better! I also got some fans in-game. Or at least one! ;D

Also, when I got home today, I discovered that I now have 4 more subscribers on YouTube!

That's a lot of them in one day!

I only have like level 20 in mining / prospecting so they aren't uber. Just barely enough to use those amps!

The finder is pretty decent though. Would love to do this with a 1000 meter finder one day. :)

Damn you Tommy! I didn't take my own advice and sort of got into mining with these level 13 amps. I was using a 105 finder but changed to a terra 4 with tier 2 depth enhancers, max I can use, and hitting at a depth of over 800 meters.

So, I don't have exact figures but I reckon I have done at least 10 of these runs. Out of those runs I HoF'd twice with around 250 ped hofs each time. On no occasion did I exceed the amp value plus MU in my TT returns. Maybe on one occasion I might have broken even with MU included. On at least 3 occasions I only hit 3 times with a tt value of around 150 ped.

After these runs, the last being one of the 3 hitters and having lost around 1.5K ped I decided to cut my losses and try FOMA with 2 amps, thinking I must at least hit once. Well guess what I didn't hit once and so I lost another 1K ped taking my losses to a grand total of 2.5K ped.

Ah well at least I don't have to worry about pirates in space as I have nothing for them to loot and can save myself the 7 ped TP fee bak to Caly. That is if I bother logging in again to go back to Caly.

So my plan now? Sit on my CLD's for 6 months to get my peds back :laugh:

You are just paranoid. :p

Remember, I haven't done 10 runs yet, but my costs are higher than incomes by far, and I've only done 6 runs so far. So I am not expecting to win tons of PED from doing this. This is like a sure way to stop playing in the long run unless I get super lucky, lol.

But either way, I am pretty cheap when it comes to probing. I don't do drop the probes too close to each other or I end up losing stuff. But it's a ton of luck involved.

It might have worked if the big amps were cheaper, but at 150% MU one is doomed from the start.

Buying an amp of 340 PED and wasting that extra 170 PED market value everytime is a recipe for disaster in the long run unless you are lucky like hell... :/

That's why hardly anyone else bothers doing these things, lol.

ive only dropped 1 lvl13 amp in my 8years in this game.. got back 110ped.. needless to say that was the last one also

etc. etc etc.

Either you get lucky fast and manage to hit a big one (after few lvl 13 amp burned)
or (most of the time) you need a big bankroll to keep it up before it will :tower:

Oh my word Tommy. Looks like you had a run similar to or maybe even in fact worse than my awful runs. Sorry to see and as you say MA really needs to sort it out otherwise no one will be playing this game in a year or two.

Mining with Level 13 amps is lots of fun but it's bloody expensive!! :yup:

I guess my conspiracy theory doesn't hold much water now. :scratch2:

I'd love to donate some peds to ya Tommy, but unfortunately I have pumped them all into the ground, same as you.
