Developer Notes #9 - Version Update 15.0 Preview

This theory has been around for a very long time. Ever since Marco showed off his Mind Ark official gun that does like 7.2k damage. Someone asked him a question about loot and he said that with that gun loot does not get generated.

it does
When there was a bugged shared loot mob (that qasar or whatever) some MA avatar had to kill it with that gun, which didnt spend even 1 ped to kill it, and yet it hofed on both mobs, so it surelly gets generated

I'd like to reserve the right to complain about debris later.

At low level most of the stackables are 101% to 104% so converting to universal ammo may make little or no difference especially if you take auction costs into account.

Really it's just going back to the old ped in loot system, I'm a tt melee user and collect all my stackables until I'm out of ped so it won't make much difference to me.

Whenever i think MA is sulking on ideas and not doing much, you come up with some of the most ingenious ideas i could have imagined. Awesome move on the universal ammo, though i hope the shrapnels are tradeable.

On paper the balancing sounds good , however i reserve comment for the implementation of it as there is many a slip between the cup and the lip..

There was when the oils were introduced as they forgot to add the ammo for a couple of days and loot was way down.

Love how people think that the changes in loot is for the playerbase.

People have to understand MA changed the jackpot thrill due to being hit hard by RL laws watching EU as a Casino

Everything they change is to still keep them in the "loophole" to not be recognised as a casino. That's it. nothing more than that.

yay for taming !

Just read up on taxes and what u would have to pay if MA said. Yea EU is a Casino!

[h=3]Developer Notes #9 - Version Update 15.0 Preview[/h] [h=4]Taming[/h] As announced in an earlier Buzz article, Version Update 15.0! brings Taming back to Entropia Universe. In this first phase, each planet will feature one low-level tamable creature:

  • Arkadia - Nusul Puny
  • Calypso - Bristlehog Puny
  • Cyrene - Young Arret
  • Rocktropia - Panther Puny
  • Toulan - Tabtab Puny
Existing pets work as they did in the old taming system, though those types of creatures cannot currently be tamed. Additional tamable creatures will be added in future Version Updates.

So even the Daikiba, Exarosaur & Snablesnots are not ready to be tamed.
We are given puny mobs (10 hp) which will die so fast that nobody will be able to tame 1.

So Taming is back, but Taming is not back - Taming Stages
(because nothing is ready and you can wait 2 more years)...

We apology, but Taming is not our priority and we used all our energy and time for something else as usual.
The stables have been sold, and we're very happy.

VU 15.0 Major Update : Shrapnel system introduced in the game.

(...)

Selling Dominax Original Viper for TT+5k ;).

PS: i hope shrapnels will replace all amo drops (except mayby explosives i guess but it seems those will become obsolete anyway cosnidering you can get shrapnels cheaper than explos amo).

Falagor
:bandit:

If the conversion rate is 100:101 that will add an automatic 1% of MU to what would have been TT Ammo. Oils, paint, comps, etc could become more rare, their MU likely will rise. I'm eager to see how things are rebalanced.

I must say, I find this an interesting new development. It puts a bottom at the economy, and it increases the ROI for people who play the game, instead of look at opportunities to withdraw every second day.

The people most affected by this will be the tailors, colourists and makeup artists where the majority of their resources come from hunting.

Are we getting the decay on clothing / equipping fees removed in this update, which they talked about at the start of the year?

It would certainly be nice if the updated the roadmap.

They did not say that drop rate was decreasing. They said that mobs will loot fewer types of materials. It is great because at the moment I'm sitting at 1000 PEDs of shinkiba loot but none of the stacks are big enough to put on auction. If they only dropped ten types of materials, the average stack would be 100 PEDs.

If anything it will lower the MU on many items because people with smaller bankrolls will be able to stash stackables. That would make it better for everyone.

Assuming taming works the same way as it has... Chances are the system has been changed, so the HP won't affect it in the same way.

It says in the text that "Existing pets work as they did in the old taming system", not that taming works the same way :) impossible to say either way until VU, though.

It was Kim who killed that mob with "no loot " gun, and gave away the loot so that it would not affect the economy in the game..how he can say that it does not affect the game is another thing.

yes he did give the loot but the gun generated loot, that was my point

This is a preview and not everything that is coming. Everyone pipe down. Ffs.

Maybe at that time, overkill was returned in loot... it's not now though.

On Topic: I hope they don't replace too many of the TT paints that colorers have nothing left to skill with or that paint prices rise to high. I'm looking forward to less stacks while hunting... I hunted 2 mobs the other day for about 2 hours and got nearly 70 different types of resources.

Wait...

So.... The type of weapon we use to kill something affects what's in the loot?

I've said that for years, equipment used determines what can get looted or rather changes the chances of what is looted.
For example using equipment type 1 has 15% chance to loot item y
using equipment type 2 has 17% chance to loot item y and so on.

So, when is ammo removed from trade terminals?

Yea the prevalent thought is that the avatar or weapon of choice can be hot.. or both when the good stuff happens. Send me a msg hardwrath and I'll tell you about it.. although I'm sure I already have.

Interesting note that I've had 2 hunting ubers in my career. . Both from a sword.

Tamable puny mobs? not bad, I want one of each :)
Shrapnel in loot? whatever, at least let the rest of stuff have mu

Rest of you all: If you like it - play it! If you don't like it - don't play it! If you have a suggestion, suggest it :) If you want to sell out, make a thread :) Unconstructive complaining just makes this forum more empty (you used to be able to find a third of EU's population in here, now it's more like 5% of active players check this forum? It's not cause of the great atmosphere and helpful threads)

lets not forget the stig+taco ath with swords :)

Mind essences is a ammo type right? Meaning force nexus and sweat prices will drop substantially!

Why? Attack chips use synth ME from the TT. Not like the old days where it used Mind Essence that was made from sweat and nexus.

dont get what you mean with this?

What is referring to is that we are getting one more user bound item more or less that will not be tt-able as in the new ammo.

[h=3]Developer Notes #9 - Version Update 15.0 Preview[/h]

Shrapnel is not used as a crafting component; instead, Shrapnel can be can converted to Universal Ammo at a ratio of 100:101, or sold to the Trade Terminal at face value.

This seems like a small step in the right direction.

I would prefer Shrapnels were craftable (to tradable Ammo) by a BP with 100% guaranteed success, so that there is little skill reward in crafting. This maybe will add a little more MU to Shrapnels.

or

Shrapnel was converted to tradeable Ammo in refiner using some Fragments.

I'm sure the shrapnel will be sellable. Universal loot as you know is not. Let's not get the pitchforks yet. Also.. be careful what you wish for.. I can recall threads made about every couple months asking for something like this.

Also 100% granted success bp is pointless. It would be zero sum. Couldn't get skills because there is no rake or potential loss. There would be no chance for any multipliers either.

pets woot! about time..

New ammo in loot distribution, interesting and intriguing and maybe worth looking at before determining how it will work out. Just at quick overview I like the concept, get extra 1% bonus back if you choose to convert to un-tradable ammo and get out there and shoot more, else 100% at tt for shrapnel. Like that it will make some of the tt fodder being cycled out into shrapnel and hopefully make those components a trad-able commodity again instead of just TT food.

I will wait to experience these new changes before determining if they are good or bad but it has an intriguing positive high level overview, but it could be all just smoke and mirrors, so taking the cautionary route :D

i bet shrapnel will replace looted ammo...

about the new loot distribution..

some ppl here said it will be bad for colorors and crafters? i don't think so..
what they will do (as i read) is to make creature loot less different materials...so instead of ending a run with (for example) 5*100 different extractors you get 500 of one kind. in addition there will not be 10 different creatures looting same kind of extractor but perhaps just one looting that kind of extractor.
this will result in:

-hunters can produce sellable stacks more easily (i bet alot of stuff gets tted atm because ppl don't want to have 100eds of peds locked to create sellable stacks)
=>more of the stackables will be available at the market (good for crafters, colorers etc)

-there will be new opportunities to farm stuff with mu (right now lots of stuff can't be trageted as mu-loot because the stuff just drops in too low quntities at a certain mob (extractors are good example))

i don't like untradable stuff...but the rest looks promising

i hope taming adds new opportunities to craft sellable stuff..right now there is way too low demand, all gets looted hunting
