Tomorrow, Wednesday 2014-10-29 at 08:00 UTC, the Entropia Universe servers will taken offline for a patch release 15.0.2.
We estimate a downtime of 1 hour and a client patch size of 80 MB.Â!

Trust me, the concept of EU would not be very enjoyable at 544kb.

Luckily, you could cut a hole in the side, and DOUBLE the storage capacity!

Good ole days!

:ahh:

They should put a limited edition no download version of EU on sale in the webshop consisting of 6500 disks for a Calypso installation.

I would buy it....

"The discs come with a limited edition meter-high metal shelf with an Entropia-themed paintjob! All planets have one shelf each, which can be seperately removed from the shelf and placed on your desk for comfortable access while installing!

Order the Ultimate Edition now and you will also recieve planet-specific theme paintjobs on ALL seperately removable shelves, as well as a rotatable foot for the main shelf!"

Actually, at 3.3mm each, the shelf would need to be 21.45 meters, roughly 70 feet, unless we want it to be more than one disk wide :silly2:

How bout 3x2 meters? Would that work for you?

Hm, maybe a chest of drawers would be better :silly2:

yay 80 MB.Â!
Converted to real MB that would work out too....... 5 bugs fixed, two new bugs, and three reintroduced ones! Give or take a few! :yay:

LoL or they are just patching! ;)

Disgusting how much fits on a thumb drive now o_O

That would make a sweet porn storage! :yup:

Yupp. Since you don't want HD porn you'd end up with a million minutes of it. That's 16667 hours. If you need ten minutes a time that would make 100000 sessions. The average guy is active something like 60 years of his life so that gives us 4.5 sessions a day throughout your life.

Really, they can stop the development of USB memories now...

A mere 1 Tb? If only for the week's favorites :D

Trust me, the concept of EU would not be very enjoyable at 544kb.

I'm sure it would, Entropia would benefit greatly from being text-only, as MUDs were way more immersive than any graphic MMOs (provided that a player wasn't deprived of imagination). Great cut on development costs too :)

Missed yesterday update and now system is offline again.

What exploit did those pesky players found in the yesterday's patch ? Curious minds want to know.

Its probably just adding in the portals for halloween mayhem.

Gawd I hope they do a server reset, the lag was getting bad.

I dont think i would take about one hour. Now is 9:09 UTC and even no patch download started by Client.

There are always what they call "unforeseen consequences". Personally I think they by now would have encountered just about any "unforeseen consequence" possible, and they are just making the same mistakes over and over. Makes me want to quote Albert Einstein about repeating something the same way and expecting different outcome.

Patch downloading - 1 hour 30 minutes of downtime :)

Is that only me - ClientLoader keep untick a lot of planets after each VU? (and I need to manually tick them back again and again)

Well, to be honest I think that quote is taken out of context. Obviously, as a scientist, Einstein himself would seemingly repeat the same process, even though he might have not. Does a layman understand enough physics to see the difference between an experiment that is slightly tweaked and the original attempt? Does a layman understand enough about game programming to appreciate the vast differences in structure that a seemingly small tweak would require?

AND, replication is the base of science. Peer review is often the foundation for further development, meaning that yes you are repeating the same thing, and most likely expecting and encountering new results. :wise:

With that said; you're probably right...

they are JUST patching? That never happened! It's always a mixture of fixes + bugs
