I was in the middle of my nusul log when the Nusul Nose was found by another player and sold for 10,000 PED. While I prefer to finish a log before starting a new one, I was forced to switch to Zadul hunting to try to loot a Zadul Brain, also worth 10,000 PED.

I actually switched back on January 17th, when I found out that the bounty on Nusul Nose was claimed. I didn't create this log at that time though because: 1) I was rushing to try to force out the Zadul Brain with brute force by killing them as fast as possible and 2) I felt bad for making everyone jump between various logs of mine. I already had the Berycled log paused and felt bad.

That begin said, I have kept track of returns and costs, writing them down in excel as quickly as possible so that I could get right back to killing Zadul. In the last 2.5 days I've killed exactly 5275 Zadul, and since I'm not currently in a place where I can hunt, I figured why not create this log.

Previous Logs:

Argonaut 10K (10,000 Kills) Overall Return: 101.2% (TT)
Longu 5K (6,500 Kills) Overall Return: 100.45% (TT)
Bronze Argo Challenge (10,000 Kills) Overall Return: 94.75% (TT)

Paused Log:

Berycled 60K - Currently 7504/12000 of Stage 3. Current return 140.39%! (TT)
Nusul 12K - Currently 2500/4800 of Stage 4. Current return 107.88% (TT)

My first set of data included mission #1 (75 kills) and mission #2 (400 kills) as I didn't think it was worth wasting time on logging 75 kills when there were brains to loot.

Currently 75/75 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage I - Complete
Currently 400/400 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage II - Complete

Ammo Spent: 461.53 PED (Exact - Universal Ammo)
Limited Weapon Decay: 25.59 PED (Includes MU)
UL Weapon/Amp Repair: 70.39 PED
Armor Repair: 11.54 PED
Heal Tool Repair: 0.90PED

Total Cost: 569.95 PED

TT Value Returned: 615.48 PED

Net Return (Run): +45.53 PED
TT Return % (Run): 107.99%

Thoughts: My first 200-300 kills or so were on lower maturities, because they don't list the location of larger maturities on entropedia. Once one of my soc-mates let me know that the higher maturities can be found NW of Aakas (and I figured out where Aakas is), I switched to the high maturities and haven't looked back.

I reached 125 health!

Notable Loots: I had quite a streak with the small maturities. Globals for 11 PED, 13 PED, 23 PED, 10 PED, 12 PED. Then, once I swapped to higher maturity, one global for 77 PED.
Teleport Chip II (L) - 14.00 PED

Net Return (Run): -46.18 PED
TT Return % (Run): 91.03%

Net Return (Total): -0.65 PED
TT Return % (Total): 99.94%

Thoughts: Still on high maturity. Nothing special happened.

Notable Loots: None, no globals.

Currently 750/1200 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage III - Incomplete

Ammo Spent: 600.38 PED (BLP ammo used, so lower than actual)
Limited Weapon Decay: 31.22 PED (Includes MU)

Notable Loots: Teleport Chip II (L) - 14.00 PED
Teleport Chip II (L) - 7.69 PED

Hmm. Lowest TT return is 91%? Something doesn't seem right here.

Currently 1200/1200 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage III - Complete!

Ammo Spent: 619.71 PED (BLP ammo used, so lower than actual)
Limited Weapon Decay: 35.95 PED (Includes MU)
UL Weapon/Amp Repair: 98.57 PED
Armor Repair: 18.65 PED

Net Return (Run): +338.01 PED
TT Return % (Run): 143.63%

Net Return (Total): +353.62
TT Return % (Total): 113.62%

Thoughts: 450 Kills. Crazy globals. Globals for 121 PED, 76 PED, 125 PED, 73 PED, 69 PED.

Notable Loots: Teleport Chip II (L) - 14.00 PED
Teleport Chip II (L) - 14.00 PED
Teleport Chip II (L) - 14.00 PED
Teleport Chip II (L) - 8.46 PED

Yes, that's four of them this run, and a total of 8 teleport chips.

Seriously. Your fkn TT returns are starting to get to me. I will go to ark today, copy your setup and try it myself....

Now, go loot that brain so you can finish your logs! ;)

That was my best run. More updates to follow.

Currently 600/4800 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage IV - Incomplete

Ammo Spent: 810.69 PED (BLP ammo used, so lower than actual)
Limited Weapon Decay: 46.41 PED (Includes MU)
UL Weapon/Amp Repair: 130.06 PED
Armor Repair: 24.26 PED
Heal Tool Repair: 3.50 PED

Total Cost: 1,014.92 PED

TT Value Returned: 1,074.69 PED

Net Return (Run): +59.77 PED
TT Return % (Run): 105.89%

Net Return (Total): +413.39
TT Return % (Total): 111.45%

Thoughts: At this point, I moved up to groups of 600 kills/run. I do occasionally head back to city half way through only to repair armor and to throw animal hides into storage to allow myself to wait longer between full calculations, but I still log all repair costs and animal hide returns.

This was the first run where I realized armor costs were high. The Zadul really rip into the armor, especially compared to Nusul.

Two Globals for 61 PED, and 50 PED

Notable Loots: Teleport Chip II (L) - 6.86 PED

This would be my last TP chip. So oddly, after 9 of them dropping in quick succession, they stopped dropping completely.

Currently 1200/4800 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage IV - Incomplete

Ammo Spent: 841.01 PED (BLP ammo used, so lower than actual)
Limited Weapon Decay: 46.66 PED (Includes MU)

Armor Repair: 23.67 PED
Heal Tool Repair: 2.43 PED

Net Return (Run): -12.48 PED
TT Return % (Run): 98.81%

Net Return (Total): +400.91
TT Return % (Total): 108.61%

Thoughts: I got my first looted ESI ever this run! It came delayed, there was a loot for ~12 PED, and then several seconds the chip popped up on the screen.

Two Globals for 74 PED, and 71 PED

Notable Loots: Empty Skill Implant - 10.63 PED

TT Return % (Run): 103.16%

Net Return (Total): +433.11
TT Return % (Total): 107.63%

Thoughts: A lot happened this run.

I got my first UL item this run! (So close to the first ESI, too). It was actually in a random two ped loot, so wasn't part of any kind of multiplier.

I reached 126 HP, level 33 BLP Pistoleer (Hit) and level 35 Ranged BLP (Dmg).

Three Globals for 61 PED, 96 PED, 55 PED

Notable Loots: Canis Shin Guards (M) (UL) - 1.28 PED*

Net Return (Run): +11.30 PED
TT Return % (Run): 101.09%

Net Return (Total): +512.32
TT Return % (Total): 106.61%

Thoughts: I got enough skill gains this log to be able to upgrade to higher DPS weapons this run. Did have to pay 2.00 PED each for delivery from Calypso, so their MU is a bit higher than they would have been, but still eco enough for my tastes even with the fee, and I ended up saving a lot on armor and repair costs. These guns seem to have a much higher decay rate than my previous ones, so ammo cost much lower, but weapon decay costs are up 33%. The new weapons are pistols that can finally handle my dante amp, so amp repair is also much higher, but overall the cost is basically unchanged.

Globals for 62 PED, 130 PED, 49 PED, 63 PED.

Notable Loots: None.

Net Return (Run): -68.69 PED
TT Return % (Run): 93.37%

Net Return (Total): +443.63
TT Return % (Total): 105.05%

Thoughts: I stopped using a tagger this run to see what would happen (mostly because it was late and I was tired) and you can see what happened to ammo/heal costs.

I'm now caught up to present.

Globals for 40 PED, 46 PED, and 45 PED.

Notable Loots: None.

I'll agree with poster from page one that results seem very atypical. I don't know if the returns were crazy because of how over farmed they were. For the last several runs, there were so many hunters that about 30% of the time was spent just sitting there waiting for respawns (and there's a large area where they spawn, so there were a LOT of hunters).

I'm not really familiar enough with Arkadia to know if this is typical for hunting loot for the planet, or if I just got a long lucky streak. I do know that when I first came to Arkadia to hunt nusul, I was told by soc-mates that the hunting returns were better in Arkadia.

While hunting, I did hear others say in local that the Zadul were being greedy that day, so I don't think these results are necessarily typical for everyone. I'm probably long overdue a severe loot drought.

No Brain found that I'm aware of as of this writing, so I'll be back at it tonight.

http://www.entropialife.com/ViewMob.aspx?M=296

Overall, I managed 33 globals for 1882 PED total, it put me well ahead in first place for the week on both accounts (next closest for the week are 22 globals and 822 PED total).

I actually am also in first place for monthly total loot despite having only hunted for three days (I went a bit kill-spree crazy). I'm second monthly for total globals behind my soc-mate and to-be buyer of the zadul brain, 5$ LT.

In three days I got myself into fourth place all time for Zadul loot on EntropiaLife.com.

I had similar results when I grinded regular otorugis. Peoples misfortune with hunting comes from doing small runs and expecting near 90 to 100% returns. You are doing proper length (albeit still borderline too small) runs were it has time to balance out.

Things balance out around 500 kills but I've had to do more than 1000 in a grind before a minus 900 run turned into a plus 900.. just that fast.

Arkadia tends to have more stable returns than calypso for whatever reason. Variance is larger on calypso and that is likely a product of the population difference.

Thanks karkar, glad to hear you're doing well on the berylceds. Can't wait to get back to them myself.

I'm sure your 600 ped global will come, be sure to let me know when it happens, okay?

Good luck :)

Great log, as usual :)

You wrote that you hunted large Zadul now, where did you find those?
Entropedia only show one spawn of young- dominant, but I was hoping for something bigger than that :)

I know this is a bit off topic but I have been thinking alot about it.
Does it matter (in the long run) if you do alot of small runs compared to fewer big runs? I always thought it would even out in the end?

It will even out in the end.

Problem as I see it is that many people do short runs because they can't afford long runs. You need to be able to sustain at the level you are playing.

I have 1200 more kills that I haven't yet updated here, will when I get home. It's driving me crazy that my entropialife log in is broken at the moment, I want to see my rankings!

I'm mildly perturbed at the person who tried to make an entropialife account using my same login name right now. :yup:

I'm finding the notion of getting 12,000 kills for stage V to be daunting. I think the 60,000 kill point quest after stage V will be much more enjoyable, though, so I'm just going to put my head down and plow right through.

You can always do rockets on the smalls at 350 an hr. ;)

I can look up your avatar rank when I get home.

To the person about the small runs.. I believe that too short of runs means considerable loss of opportunity. It depends if you subscribe to wasting multipliers or personal loot pools. I believe in neither.

It would average out if the randomizer was really random but any programmer knows that there is no such thing just as much as a former card counter that there are other variables to consider.

You can always do rockets on the smalls at 350 an hr. ;)

That's tempting, it's definitely working out for you, and it looks fun when you do it.

I may end up doing it, but I'd like to at least try getting through on the big ones.

I can look up your avatar rank when I get home.

That would be epic of you! Had a good run of globals and am curious to see how I'm doing weekly/monthly/all time :)

You are:

Weekly: 2nd Total, 1st in number of globals, N/A in biggest single loot

Monthly: #1 Total and number of gloabls, N/A biggest single

All time: #2 Total and N/A Single highest and Total number of globals

huh.... did that make sense?

Currently 4200/4800 - Zadul IFN Challenge Stage IV - Incomplete

Ammo Spent: 808.68 PED (Exact - Universal Ammo)
Limited Weapon Decay: 59.96 PED (Includes MU)
UL Weapon/Amp Repair: 152.59 PED
Armor Repair: 18.15 PED
Heal Tool Repair: 1.66 PED

Total Cost: 1041.04 PED

TT Value Returned: 984.96 PED

Net Return (Run): -56.08 PED
TT Return % (Run): 94.61%

(Not calculating over return at this point to save time, as my spreadsheet's current overall return includes the next two runs.)

Thoughts: Two globals for 74 and 71 PED.

Notable Loots: None.
