This is going to be a simple project. I am starting with 200PED and not using any type of plan. I am just going to be randomly dropping probes anywhere I fee like with no preset plan completely ignoring the mining data on the various websites. The reason I am using 200PED is because that's what I got after buying the Gold Starter pack. I think that is a very reasonable purchase for a new player. I have played/are playing several MMO's and most of them I have spent at least $40 on.

Goal:
1) How long 200PED lasts in mining.
2) See if I can achieve the theoretical 90%TT return without any system like the pros have and without a larger payroll.
3) If 2 fails prove a good plan works.

My current Equipment
1)Ziplex Z1 Seeker
2)Earth Excavator ME/01

Level as of this post:
Prospector: Level 2
Miner: Level 2
Driller: Level 1
Surveyor: Level 1

I started this last night with a 100PED run.

Results were better than expected.

Start: 100PED
End: 236TT value in mats
Decay: 3PED

+133PED TT

MU unknown until the second 100PED run is done and mats are sold from both runs. Probably not going to be much being most of the mats are oil and lysterium.

131PED HOF on Oil was the big winner but I also got 105PED TT in misc. Even without the HOF I was at 105% TT.

Now I am off to do the second 100PED run then sell the mats and continue. After this I intend on just doing single runs with however many probes I can afford at the time. I intended to last night but it took 1.5hours to drill that HOF and I ran out of time.

End: 54.89PEDTT in mats

I TT'ed anything not worth putting in auction and put everything else in auction. Will update MU after the end of auction. Then will do another run once peds accounted for. So the next run I should have 284.33PED (+ any MU on the ores)to start with.

Auctions ended. Not to great...

288.31 is what I ended up with.

So gained 3.98PEd on MU.

So far:
+88.31

Going to buy 288.31PED worth of probes and do a run. Just FIY I am dropping both enmatter and ore at same time.
I am about 7 out of 10 drunk so will hope for best. :dunce:
 
Good luck! I'm very interested in seeing the results of this log.

Just a word of advice, the current markup of ores makes it easier to lose than to win, so finding a location or two that has dianthus/cave sap and just grinding enmatters only might be best..

It would also help the peds last longer.. Only .50 a drop instead of 1.0

Save the ore mining for rares when you can get skilled enough for ~700 depth finder.

Another tip.. When auctioning leave the bid price at 100%.. Just change the buyout price, you'll save a lot in fees that way, and believe me it will make the difference between profiting and losing.
 
So my finder finally ran out and needed repaired.. Instead of repairing I bought a f-104 for +10TT. So it was 46PED. It isn't fully repaired.

So 88.31 - 46.00 = +42.31PED

Repairs: 35.13PED (probably should not have repaired the F-104 yet as it was only half.... :dunce:)
Auction Fees: 10.21 (ugg lots of different mats lots of auctions)

Will update MU tomorrow after auctions end. If auction sell as they are set I should be close to breaking even.

I Decided to buy probes with what PED I already gathered from the last run. Some of it is still in auction but bought what I could in probes, about 160PED worth. I think I will buy lotto tickets on my way home from work tomorrow. 172PEd Belkar hit and a 306PED Durulium hit. :eyecrazy: I still have half my probes left to boot. To tired to continue. Will update numbers after work tomorrow.


 
Yes, I think that you should definitely go and buy those lotto tickets :D You are on a roll :) Many Gzzz's on those finds :)
 
These results are not what I expected. All the reading I have done indicated I should have had a dry spell for a while after the first HoF. However the exact opposite has occurred. My theory of just randomly picking a spot to mine seems to be working however to early to really tell if it is just noob luck. After work I will finnish the run and do some math. I still have over 60 drops plus whatever more to buy from auction proceeds.

I have been mining 7 months now. When I was very new . My 1st global was a HoF 1400 Copper.
I think the game likes to reward us in beginning to Hook us.
I also wonder at times. When I was 1st building up my
Mining Float. It seemed every time I deposited, I would 1k plus hoF.
sense I stopped Depositing 2 months ago No more 1 k plus Hits :((
And I non amp drop 400 to 600 drops a day. mind you with MU . I at least Break even
or make a touch.

There maybe something to that... Watching chat today I see a few people express similar results. I did buy the $40 gold package.
 
So After MU I ended up with -1PED. I then bought 199PED worth of probes.

Start: 199PED
End: 660.97 (see previous post of big hits)

So before MU of the mats I just got, I should have more than 681.04PED to buy probes (481.4PED plus the original 200PED). If I was in a real casino I would cash out and quit while I was ahead. :laugh:

Right now I am going to pause the project and decide how to proceed. With the bigger bankroll I need a much better way to track costs.

So far the random no plan mining seems to be working. Basically what I am doing is just looking for a pretty place (a place with colors on the ground or a nice beach or a forest) and mining it until I come across a mob I can't get around or get killed. Then move to a different area and so on. I am averaging about 10 drops before I move to a new area. I am not sure there really is a way to conclusively verify any specific way of doing things.
 
Sold my mats and I am now at +$491PED after the MU.

So with the original $200PED I started with and the $491PED I have made so far I have $691PED for my next mining run. Going in world now to buy the probes and start the run. I was trying to do a run a day but no way I have time to drop that many probes after work on weekdays so this run will probably take a few days unless I get a lot of no return drops. Will update after the run.
 
Finally got this run done... How people manage to drop 500-1000 a day is beyond me. :dunce:

MU values will be negligible being most of what I got was low MU stuff. Mostly Belkar, Lysterium and Oil.

next run should have 329.6 + original 200 + MU values which is undetermined. Putting stuff in auction and will update when all mats are sold.
 
329.6 + original 200 + 10PED in MU= 539.6PED in probes for my next run. Getting started on this now. I got a minor skill boost for completing some of the mining iron challenges however I suspect skill level has little to do with returns.
 
Little over halfway through this run. It appears I lost the theoretical deposit buff as I have not got any decent hits in a long time. Strange, but it seems the higher level I get the worse results.:scratch2:
Will try to finish this run after work.

Run done finally. I got a 151PED oil global to salvage the run.

Start: 540PED
Finish: 532PED TT

Overall: +332PED

Most of the stuff has almost no MU value at this point so not expecting much more than TT.

You'll need to be careful about finding resources with no markup.. if you can't salvage at least a 111% average markup you will lose in the long run... and that's unamped.
 
I have stuff that was selling 110-120% but now they are not even getting bids at 100%. Its like all the crafters decided to go on vacation. Maybe it was just the mining event.:scratch2:

Ideally I would have enough floater PED to hold onto the mats for better MU days. However this new VU seems to not made any changes to improved MU. I am not going to buy more PED just to keep stock piling materials when there is no indication that they actually want higher MU on the stuff. I am pretty sure they are intentionally driving down MU to try and gain new player retention.

I ended up with 10PED MU.
So the run was:
+2PED
Total so far: +334PED

So 334+ the original 200 = 534PED for probes. Starting this run now.
 
I think I f-ed up. I covered all of caly so I flew to Rocktopia. Mined for about an hour. Getting some odd loot and the planet seems rather small. Not sure I like the theme. Kinda like a 14 year olds dream or something. Will continue there for a while and probably go somewhere else. Probably have to TT this stuff before I go.

You don't like Rocktropia? I don't know of any mining place in EU where I can consistently find MU as high as 135% on average using TT gear, but due to the recent changes to the game this average has gone down by 10%. Sad but true.

Yea it was dumb. Don't care about MU if the place isn't attractive to be in. TT'ed what I got and I flew back to Calypso and logged out. After Rocktopia and a ridiculously long space flight back and forth I was put off enough not to log back in until today. Just burned the Universal Ammo that came with the gold pack as everything seemed way to laggy to do much else. Took 10 login attempts to get on. :eyecrazy: Starting to understand why people complain so much.

Check you internet provider . I got same problem in laptop at office (internet is whit 3g flash) . Sometime i cant connect 10 times and sometime the green buton just not load :laugh:

Internet is just fine Comcast 20mbs down 2.5mbs up. Evey other mmo plays flawless. I was just logged out in a busy area I think. I am from USA though. Servers on other side of the planet.
Its all good. Got 25 games on steam needing attention.

I get these same issues from time to time when trying to log in. Also in the US but using Time Warner Cable internet.

Sometimes after getting those I do get in game but the screen is dimmed out and I get a message about some sync or server error and I have to go through the process again.
 
Pretty sure computer isn't an issue. Usually get 60FPS.

I've had this happen to me.. on multiple computers and multiple different internet services.. just contact support.. they'll resolve the issue, or reset your acct/move your ava.. something. Idk what they do but it works.
