I've decided to collect and share some ads. I got a bit of a laugh out of these. Mindark needs to learn how to advertise. It is nice to see that they are using google adsense though at least.

I'll be posting some more, feel free to share as well! Some of these aren't too bad, but others I find pretty funny.

I like them, but then I've been here almost 9 years. So I'm not impartial.

Can you do better?

If so, help them out. :)

PS:pic 1 reminds me of "six" from BSG - cooincidence?

I liked a lot of them actually, well actually just the ones that are actually from the game for the most part. I don't get where the fuck they got these wierd paintings/pictures of people from...

Who is this purple haired freak? And the text on the ads is for the most part hilarious. Mature Gamer? Feels like its a link to some cosplay porno. Add real cash value to your avater? What the fuck, what new player will know what this means? On top of that, since when have you ever been able to make your own virtual company?

I mean, these just can't be getting new players to join. We need an affiliate marketing program for the game.

The purple hair, could be from lighting at night combined with lit items like those castorian swords. I'm not sure.

Mature gamer is a fact, I think the average age is about 35 here. Compared to 18-25 for WoW - might be lower.

I think most using some basic research will find out that Entropia is a real cash economy game, and they can "power level up" should they choose to by using real money.

Virtual company could be something that we have yet to see or maybe we will see our societies renamed in the near future.

"mature mmo gamer?" with "hot" chick in background...
lol..
i would never click that ad..

Adsense or one of those idiot ad server companies has noticed that I always have a PCF tab open, so now they bombard me with Entropia ads. Seems like anything I already have open triggers ads for those companies. Brilliant! Hope no one is paying them any real money for their "services".

lol but perhaps i would click this one...

Err, I mostly know people here either above or below that, so that sounds right :)

And yes, I agree that the player base here is older than most mmos.

"Mature" just doesn't reach me as describing this game as being good for an older user. To me it sounds like I'm going to log on for animated sex/porn/shit, kind of like second life lol.

Saw the first one just now on the entropialife webpage (bit of a wasted ad, that). I didn't really think it was giving the right vibe. In fact, at first I thought it was one of those ads for those oversexed hentai/anime games they were advertising forevere

Thanks for sharing. So where did they spend the advertising money??

So bad, potential, but they really need to work on them before releasing them out there, these will damage the game.

Mature gamer, sounds like its a flippin sex game, especially with the slutty girl added on..

They show nothing about the game

Just got this one at a news gaming website:

this one is around for so many years, and personally i like it best because of the irony

The old splash-screens they used to display while waiting to login would be much better for advertising purposes...some of those were beautifully rendered and would make great horizontal ad bars.

The "Mature MMO Gamer?" with the random RL blonde and come-hither look is totally lame and, like you all have said already, makes it look like a porn game.

Epic fail

could someone teach MA that in internet slang "mature" means "porn" and together with the suggestive imagery in some of the ads it creates a sense of false advertising.

The purple haired one with green eyes looks like a yesteryear's cliche; and why all woman and concentrating on visuals?

A couple of them are better. This game is about building your avatar, trying to make money (an illusion I know) and being an entrepreneur/pioneer.
People want to break free from their boring jobs and mediocre lives that don't give them fulfillment.
Jebus, I could make better ads; even friggin Neverdie could make better ads.

For it is sad to say; and many have said it before; but all ambition and creativity has left (or been fired) by MA; and all that is left are gray mice that milk this game and once great community.

If only MA could realism that they are selling dreams. A game is a dream, an illusion, escapism. Concentrate on what hooks people.

Concentrate on what hooks people.

Unfortunately, MA seems to have focused exactly on that, with EP crafting...it has attracted a new genre of EU gamer, the dive bar video lottery terminal "gamer"...the person you see who spends the whole evening gambling away their mortgage payment, repeatedly pressing the same button over and over and over again, without really being consciously there, hoping for the jackpot.

Many among the recent profusion of EP crafters are distinctly different from the "usual" EU gamers--the hunters, miners & crafters who actually play the game instead of just entering the number of EP crafting attempts and auto-clicking away while they get a night's sleep.

These are horrible and focus quite a lot on some questionable claims. Did no one ever tell MA that if it sounds too good to be true, then chances are, it's NOT?

So if they are indeed targeting mature audiences around 30-40, these people are not going to be drawn to what looks and sounds like a total scam.

I dare to say I could do better than these, yes. Anytime they want to pay me, I'll get started!

These do sound to good to be true.

I don't think anyone has ever "got paid" for hunting mobs in EU

Maybe the community could pull together some ad banners that we think do represent Calypso/EU better...

I would be happy to contribute a 5-10% of CLD revenues towards the project, if other people felt the same then we could crowd fund the ad and work out where best to put it. More players would bring bigger CLD revenues in the future so it seems not a completely un-worthwhile investment.

Yes, but where is magam ?

Very smart from MA to not show new OJ's in ads.
