Decoy dispensers for vehicles!

Time to up the ante for pirates with decoy dispensers mounting to the vehicle's main weapon attachment point. So you get to decide whether to equip your Quad/Sleip for attack or defense. This way hunters will continue to face the risk, while mere travelers may opt to reduce theirs for a little price.

I see the way decoys would work in space like this:

A decoy does not completely take away the risk of getting hit, just attracts an equal share of the chance. There would be a series of decoy dispensers for increasing skill levels. The lowest releases 1 decoy, thereby reducing the chance to get hit by an attacker to 50%. Higher level dispensers can release 3, 5, 7, 9 decoys at once, thus reducing the chance for the ship of getting hit accordingly.

Once released, the decoys stay nearby the ship and are effective for the same amount of time they already work in game (not sure, I never used one). To the attacker from the distance, the two (or more) targets become indistinguishable and will get chosen randomly for the incoming hit. If a decoy gets hit, of course it is destroyed instantly.

A sensible reload rate for the dispenser has to be worked out, so that the lowest one might not be sufficient for successfully defending a Sleipnir from an attacking Quad, but a 5er might do. On the other hand, the more decoys are released by the defender, the more this may raise suspicion in the attacker that loot is carried and it's worth continuing. So it remains exciting.

Let's dream :

A space dunjeon like robot beacon, located in a abandonned space station (away of any planet).

space mining on asteroid needing special ship and escort.
 
Wildest dream?... For sure to see space to become evolved enough to be considered itself a game, with space only related players and a lot of stuff to do out there, quite far from the reality I have fear :laugh:
 
Make space map toroidal, and remove silly "walls".
Make planets round (so all spawned vehicles will start at random point around planet).
 
Turn next island into a giant shared loot target that all ships can auto shoot at for days to kill.
 
ya those sound real good those ideas. Especially the safe passage to planets since all or most of these spaceships are Limited so they don't last.

I'd like to be able to go in space and fly around without any pirate attacks using whatever like a shield someone mentioned or cloak or some way to be not attacked. Then be able to find an undiscovered planet out there somewhere and get the land deed for it ! Or even make my own planet in space and make whatever I wanted on it which would have roller blading with stuff to grind on like ledges and telephone poles and houses and pipes,etc. etc.. Jus a dream lol and probly never happen in this game !

Well if the pirates want Decoys, then I want Missiles to shoot ehm down tih..(And yes try as they might, I'll craft my own missiles, and I'll shoot them off as well.. (Hey if you can roll them, then smoke them! and by them I mean anyone who deiceds to shoot at me.. lol (And yes Missile pods should be 360 line of sight..

Another things that should be released is a 3 man vheicle.. (yes you heard me, 3 or man (not just 2) craft. After all you got 1 guy piloing and using lasers you got the number 2 man, doing the rotary BLP, you got Man 3 doing missiles and number 4? He's the Conter weapons...(Decoys, Flares, Chaff)

So yeah birng it on, YOu want new decoys, I want the way to counter them, you want a 2 man defense I want a 4.. Patato Patatoe I always Say..

(oh and you might want to go look for missile and anti-missile systems.. after all who wrote the idea up? You guessed it..)

It was intended as a measure against pirates, to make it less attractive for them to go after mere travelers who want nothing other than mind their own business. Since we won't get a totally safe passage, I'd think this could be a good compromise.
 
Well best thing would be to make a deal with cccp Eve online as SP (space partners :p) and MA should rather turn back on life on Next island instead (not needed much to fix some mobs running into you and fill loot tables and slowly add more content to it) :laugh:
 
As other have said, some kind of space-mining and also some kind of "treasure-hunt" in form of finding alien spacecrafts or similar stuff. Things like that are needed to give more life to the space.

I have probably a repertoire of a millions (ok quite a few) ideas, suggestions, fixes but here's just one for now:

Be able to repair the Quad from the driver's seat if I have the tools in my inventory. Or at least have some kind of repair device attachable to it.

This would be sweet indeed:) would allow for smaller Scale spacehunting, or even limit it to the gunners seat or something
 
As other have said, some kind of space-mining and also some kind of "treasure-hunt" in form of finding alien spacecrafts or similar stuff. Things like that are needed to give more life to the space.

Randomly spawning deserted spacestations and motherships. Land in the hangar and start shooting space mobs. Perhaps something like getting to the control panel and activating the teleport. On your way back you'll meet a big ass boss in the hangar after which you can safely tp down to nearest planet.

Some iron mission to that would add more incentives to do the instances.
 
The following is a compilation of just a few I have proposed in the past, here in forum or in conversations with support. Some of these may duplicate ideas elsewhere in the thread, I haven't ignored you I am simply adding my voice to yours :)


PART 1 - Personalising my ship

1. As a Mothership is effectively an estate, can owners please have the ability to place items, decorating for Christmas would have been nice, personalising the main lounge would be great. So long as only non-lootable items can be placed, it cannot be looted. If these are locked down as in other estates, theft will also not be an issue.

2. Why can't space vehicles be (C) a small on-board terminal for ships bigger than a quad could be used instead of a colorater/texturiser. Or drop deed into colorater/texturiser but it brings up picture of the vessel.

PART 2 - Functionality

1. Guestlists.
It is not easy managing a list of up to 500 names, the random order of the list and the recent change to showing full avatar name only has made this much harder. This wastes a lot of gameplay time for the owners.. time when they are not spending ped, or helping others to spend ped.

• Could the guest lists please return to reflecting names as shown in friends/ team list, so that they appear with any prefix or other designator chosen by the owner.

• could guest lists be shown in alpha order like the friends list

• Could the guest list have a search like the friends list

....ohh brilliant idea ... how's about MA re-use existing software and duplicate the friends list format and just change the label.
Come on MA this could be a quick and inexpensive fix, which will give quite a few investors a feel good factor.


PART 2 - Aesthetics
1. Seating
Could seating on-board be enabled so avatars can sit in the main lounge and crew quarters. These would be great social areas and it seems a shame they are currently unused. - cost to MA almost nothing this function already exists elsewhere. Note:seating on board used to work..first they disabled seating in main lounge, then they broke the seating in crew quarters and viewing area and guess what didn't care to fix it.

2. View screens in lounge and forward viewing area to be made active, possibly with a repeater screen in main hanger, then passengers would be able to enjoy the 'scenery', see the ship engage a pirate, view a warp (never get tired of seeing that)

3. Can we please have the graphical effects back that MA have eroded over the years. These made the ships more fun for the crew, which it needs to be if space population is to be retained/increased. examples are- smoke in ship when under attack, broken and falling glass, cracks in the floor panels when under attack (space mobs and pirates), the moving torpedoes in PP that made ship look as if being loaded to ready ship for war.


PART 3 - Game Play in space

1.How about a designated space event/training area -non-lootable pvp where ship markers are hidden, with asteroids big enough to hide behind, maybe a few mobs thrown in as a distraction.. where all ships can dog-fight. So all pilots/gunners can skill but where loots are safe and Karma is unaffected. Maybe make this a separate server, possibly accessed via a portal maybe with entry charge, but then with reduced ammo costs once inside.
Entry fee could perhaps be used to fund prizes for highest no of kills in ships class or longest survival while under attack (and yeh I know those ideas have loopholes but it is just a thought).

2. Karma
Trash it and start again please.
Make it the Karma of the individual and not the ship.
When 2 or more in gunner/pilot seats let the Karma show as a combined (averaged) level.
Make it so players, especially those new to space can have something that genuinely gives them a clue who is more likely to be an aggressor

3. Gun available to pilot of MS or privateer. This would be great when hunting with just small crew, or for self-defence if flying privateer solo
 
apart from the obvious like spacemining (that ofcourse has to be done with an attachment to the sleip only)

I would like to see some awsome spacequests into deepspace for both small and big ships, like thru a portal of a crashed alienship or so... =)

How's about...
Miner bots remote controlled from a bigger ship
Explosive charges fired from ships and a ram scoop to collect the ores etc (always a risk some could float away and maybe get scooped by some other ship)
Specific mining ships (slow ofc possibly without warp function) with some limited on board defences maybe including some kind of space decoys

All of the above would need other ships as defence force, to protect them while mining the claim, to defend against attack as claim is transferred to a warp ship, and as warp vessel tries to engage warp

This would ofc then attract a greater pirate presence and thus enliven space, and take some of the heat away from the weary space traveller

Globals and Hofs to give name of space sector rather than more specific location ofc. Just as in pvp 4 on planet

Also if space junk and rocks were to be solid then ships could get some protection from them when under fire, ie rounds that hit the space debris are counted as a miss. Gunners would then really need to work with pilot as team and practice to improve accuracy etc
 
The upcoming "Cargo Transport Missions" may be a step in the right direction but I fear they are somewhat lacking. Whilst I feel they will be of some value to those who own "Warp Capable Ships" they will not be of much value to anyone else. "Pirates" believe they are going to make a killing out of these "Missions" by attacking and looting these"Cargo Containers" to complete these "Transport Cargo Missions". This may sound good in theory but in practice it will most likely prove a failure. Ships with low SI and small Crews will quickly build their SI and Crews to a point that it will cost the "Pirates" more to take these "Cargo Container" then they will get in return for completeing the "Missions". Once again we will quickly have a breakdown in the "Epic Space Battles" and the only ones to gain anything from them will be the Ship Owners.

The biggest problem that faces the "Epic Space Battles" that MindArk predicted with the opening of "Space" is the cost evvectiveness. The current "Systyem" does not make "Space Combat" sustainable. No one wants to pour a pile of PED into attacking somethin/someone knowing that they are going to get a zero to negative return for their efforts. If "destroyed ships"(MS, Privateers, Quads etc) remained in space as "debri" for several minutes after being "destroyed" giving the "Victors" of the battle time to "Salvage" what they could, things may be a little different.

"Salvaging " could be composed of things like "Polished Srap Metal, Generic Fuses, Basic Propulsion Systems, Rad Conveyors, and other parts that have/were used in the construction of "Hangars, Warp Drives, Warp Mines, etc. Create something like "Standard Scrap Metal" and make it refineable to become Metal Residue. If only 40% of the amount spent on such "Space Battles" were to go into a "Loot Pool" for this "Salvaging" the end result could very easily be "Sustainabilty". This would also create reason for "Ship Owners" to aquire "Paid Repair Crew and Gunners" to both defend against and attack other "Ships". I believe that this would only be "Sustainable" for "Individual Ships".

For truely "Epic Space Battle" inolving more than two ships to occurr we would be able to form "Alliances" that would allow us to distinguish our "Friends" from our "Enimies". I feel our current "Karma System" is pretty much a fail and should be converted to support an "Alliance Syatem". Regrettibly I have to admit that Eve Online has a very good system in place for this kind of thing and is probably one of the reasons it is so successful. They have "Co-operatives", what we would equate to "Societies". These "Co-operatives" join and form "Alliances" with other "Co-operatives" to help and support each other.

Also always i forget what i want like to have in EU/MA space and want to make a new thread for this but anyway here is very good first time to say it...really i cant understand it ....why no radars in space??:confused:

I can understand no radars but sonars in sea or underground ...but in air or space CANT this happens and even in a game...:wise:

Thats my work anyway ...fix that please...:cool:

These would be a space like mission that you have to try and bring somewhere for some reward. If someone loots them from you they get to turn in for the reward.

It is similar to the cargo mission but locations would be random spawns for the abandoned space ships. Giving people a reason to fly around more.:D

If someone else spots it and boards when you do then you can fight each other inside as it would be PvP too!

There would be a safe zone for you to revive at where you could choose to abandon the salvage and fly back out into space or you could go and try to loot back the salvaged parts that were looted from you.

Probably because a) I'm not sure radars actually work in space do that? and b) MA probably planned to release a ship attachment for deep space scanning or same such (maybe even skill based.)

I'm probably over-estimating here though! :)

Yep, I like this. I'll add, the possibility of fixing and salvaging the full ship, for personal use. ;)
 
A space training ground near Cyrene, like the other major planets already have. With Hermits in it (the mob that got removed when Cyrene was formed, or so I remember having read somewhere).

1) Space craft are lootable
2) Mining asteroids(not the space mining I discovered and MA took away)
3) Bigger variety of ship weapons
4) Bigger variety of ships
5) Thrusters(speed boost)
6) Cloaking and anti-cloaking
7) Long range radar
8) Missiles
9) Make space like contaminated zones(require an injection)

Basically more space stuff!
 
My wish? Bring back Project Entropia and the creative minds behind it.
