When "timer item" drops, this fact in itself is effectively a message, right? With the only difference that from this point onward only you (and your close friends) can track timers.
Now, there's 2 possible ways to look at this situation:
- a personal viewpoint: keeping the timers in the dark quite obviously benefits you (= puts everyone else in a disadvantage),
- step back and take a "birds eye" (game designer's) view to this "feature": granting an unfair advantage to certain players at the expense of others is something u quite obviously want to avoid.
So, canceling all rare loot messages would not improve the situation. This is a very dangerous proposal because it's coming from the playerbase and also is the easiest way to pseudo-fix the problem without fixing anything... Something some lazy manager might actually decide to do in this situation. Please ppl, stop giving MA stupid ideas!
Like several ppl already pointed out - the real solution isn't in the messages either way,
the root of the problem is the loot algorithm.
