After a short period of rather intensive mining, during which I lost an embarrassingly large amount of PED :)ahh:), I decided I'd finally start logging my returns. At the moment, this log isn't about seeing if I can make a long-term profit, so much as merely tracking my returns so I can see if any patterns emerge (specifically, I'd like to see if I can hit the magical 90% TT return mark at some point without any kind of easily identifiable routine...which if my past returns are anything to go by would require multiple towers in quick succession, but I'll leave the past in the past). Before we begin, some quick things about me:

1. As of this post, I'm a L25 Prospector, L25 Surveyor and L9 Treasure Hunter. Chipped in a bit of surveying at the start (probably my first real regret in the game), but otherwise completely natural. Currently, I'm using a Finder F-105 with an Earth Excavator ME/01 and an 'emergency' Resource Extractor RE-104 (for when I'm surrounded by mobs and/or in a rush)

2. My name is a breakdown of 'Nopeunintended' (which somehow became my user name in most games I play, probably because I have a tendency to annoy my RL friends by making a few too many puns. FYI, 'Tenunded' is literally 'un' in 'tended', so that's where it came from ;) )

3. I very much prefer high stakes mining, to the point of non-negotiability (is that even a word?)..so my one or so reader(s) will probably see a bit of FOMA/HELL/Arkadia Underground. By the same token, this log will probably end up being periodic since I've decided to impose a limit on how much I'll deposit

4. I'm absolutely terrible at getting MU (this is more to do with my impatient nature, and my general inability at identifying areas with high MU and/or my tendency to be a magical lyst/oil magnet in areas which I know have decent MU ores and/or enmatter, *cough oil tower in Hell mine #1 cough*)

5. I really should stop doing things on impulse...

6. Finally, I'd just like to re-emphasise that I'm more interested in how my TT returns will look in the long run. Everyone has a different way of obtaining MU, mine just happens to be virtually non-existent and incredibly haphazard, so I definitely anticipate overall losses after MU

Goals:
1. Unlock Serendipity (Level 26/26/10 Prospecting/Surveying/Treasure Hunting @ time of hiatus)
2. Get a mineral ore tower
3. Get a 5-digit HOF
4. Own a land area someday (I almost couldn't make myself type this)

Run #1 (7/05/15 - 8/05/15) - F.O.M.A Fortuna
To begin with, I'll just repeatedly cycle the same 1,991 PED until I can no longer afford to do a single amped run. One run will equate to as many amped drops as I can do with the given PED. If I go to FOMA, I won't include the 7 PED TP fee back to Caly in my expenses

Total TT spent = 14,499.35 PED
Total TT returns = 10,756.45 PED

Overall TT returns: 74.19%/-3742.9
Note: Until 24/04/16

Final notes:
- Will switch to HELL after this regardless of the returns at FOMA...I like the vibe there more and the mining sounds actually seem to work consistently
- Well...just one run in and that's pretty damn close to 90% TT returns :eyecrazy:

Hi there

Best of luck to you and I ill be subbing this, had a good giggle when I read it.

Youre tt return most likelly depends on all activities in EU.
Are you planning on just mining now or doing other random stuff like craft or hunt?
Maybe it would be a good idea to log the + and - of those activities also to get an overall picture.

Yea, i giggled a bit to, mostly because of recognition of my own lousy eco habits :)

Good luck and let your towers be tall and mighty!

Thank you both for your support! I'm glad you found it mildly amusing to read

As for my activities, I plan to stick to mining for the time being, though I'm partial to hunting on occasion (a bit of an understatement...most may call it 'hunting well above my level'. I call it...actually yeah, it's hunting above my level. One quick glance at the hunting globals page on my EL account would quickly tell anyone what I mean. I even contemplated hunting, oh sorry tickling, some daspletor at one point but even I have my limits). In short, no hunting, no crafting, just pure mining as for long as I can handle the sound of bombs dropping into the ground! (And that's if the sound even comes on )

But if I do change my routine, I'll definitely be sure to log that somewhere too

Run #2 (09/05 - 10/05) - HELL

Let's see how it goes :)

TT spent: 1310 (10 x L7 amp) + 300 (survey probes) + 8.2 (finder decay) + 7 (excavator decay, forgot to update it so I had to estimate from memory :/) + 1.03 (refiner decay)
= 1626.23 PED
TT return: 1275.29 PED
Total return w/ MU (minus auction fees): 1300.82 PED
TT returns for this run: 78.4%/-350.94
Run hit rate: 10%

Amp 1 - HELL mine #1
- 67.65 PED Lysterium Stone (XIII)
- 53.15 PED Crude Oil (XIII)

I think my avatar officially has a north and south pole...

Amp 2 - HELL mine #1
- 47.50 PED Magerian Mist (XII)
- 58.74 PED Hurricane Cocktail Mix (XIII)

Amp 3 - HELL mine #11
- 57.68 PED Force Nexus (XIII)
- 60.10 PED Long Island Ice Tea Cocktail Mix (XIII)
- 63.68 PED Blausariam Stone (XIII)

Amp 4 - HELL mine #11
- 63.98 PED Alternative Rock (XIII)
- 71.76 PED Blausariam Stone +
- 59.48 PED Crude Oil DOUBLE (XIII, XIII)

All three claims noted above were discovered in the last 5 drops within the same minute. Was honestly anticipating a dead amp!

Amp 5 - HELL mine #13
- 21.90 PED Zinc Stone (X)
- 55.76 PED Hurricane Cocktail Mix (XIII)
- 60.86 PED Hurricane Cocktail Mix (XIII)

Amp 6 - HELL mine #12
- 69.60 PED Durulium Stone (XIII)
- 56.92 PED Melchi Water (XIII)

Amp 7 - HELL mine #12
- 62.46 PED Melchi Water (XIII)
- 50.40 PED Narcanisum Stone (XIII)
- 48.88 PED Narcanisum Stone (XII)
- 61.57 PED Whiskey Sour Cocktail Mix (XIII)

Amp 8 - HELL mine #20
- 79.40 PED Techno Rock (XIV)

Amp 9 - HELL mine #17
- Completely dead amp

Amp 10 - HELL mine #19
- 64.60 PED Glam Rock (XIII)
- 39.21 PED Force Nexus (XII)

Final notes:
- Decent'ish run overall, but really died down towards the end. Hoping for a decent-sized HOF/Uber sometime soon to break the monotony of my normal mining routine!
- Also, upon consideration, it occurred to me that this log may be affected by the quality of my past returns...which have been rather terrible (huge understatement). This means it might end up being inflated to above 90% TT in the short term (definitely not something to complain about, and I'm just as likely to merely continue having 'bad' returns...but the stuff I'm getting now is alright compared to earlier)
- GL reader(s) and HOF big XD

Run #3 (10/05 - ???) - HELL

Mining only for minerals this time, with a double drop to use up the last 4 PED of the amp

TT spent: 875 (5 x d-class amp) + 197.5 (survey probes) + 4.10 (finder decay) + 2.33... (excavator decay) + (refiner decay)
=
TT return:
Total return w/ MU (minus auction fees):
TT returns for this run:
Run hit rate:

Amp #1 - Hell mine #2
- 85.46 PED Belkar Stone (XIV)
- 57.28 PED Belkar Stone (XIII)
- 34.56 PED Megan Stone (XI)

Amp #2 - Hell mine #3
- 812.** PED Blausariam (XX)
- 66.40 PED Copper Stone (XIII)

It got a bit late, so I had to toss up between sleeping and doing 'just one more' amp.
Pro: Bagged myself a decent HOF ;)
Con: Terrible life lesson...and my body probably hates me for it :computer:

Amp #3 - Hell mines #4 & #5, 20 drops each
- 57.60 PED Durulium Stone (XIII)
- 33.30 PED Zinc Stone (XI)
- 92.00 PED Zinc Stone (XIV)

For simplicity's sake, I'll just leave globals at their base, whole PED value from now

Amp #4 - Hell mine #6

Amp #5 - Hell mine #7

Final notes:
- I'm apparently ranked 5th in mining for the last 30 days (which is uhh...slightly higher than when I last checked :eyecrazy:). However, I expect to drop to a more modest rank in line with my routine right now
- Putting the screenshot of my HOF in here for those who like swirls. I know the screenshot says I'm in Hell mine #2, but I'm actually in Hell mine #3 (something seems to have happened to the layout of the mining zone, but I'm sure seasoned Hell miners already know this)

Run #3 continued

Edit: Never mind, the post is back but the link appears faulty. I'll update it when possible!

TT spent: 875 (5 x d-class amp) + 197.5 (survey probes) + 4.1 (finder decay) + 5'ish (excavator decay) + 2'ish (refiner decay)
= 1083.60 PED (my internet chose to DC right as I clicked 'save changes', so I was forced to estimate again. Both are slightly below the actual cost)
TT return: 1556.18 PED
Total return w/ MU (minus auction fees...): 1572.26 PED (had to estimate the auction fees as well + by now, it should be relatively clear that I favour fast-paced gameplay, which means no waiting around for that 1% MU! This is also why I emphasise TT over TT w/MU since everyone has different habits when it comes to MU)
TT returns for this run: 143.61%/+472.58 PED
Run hit rate: (N/A)

Mines covered: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7

Continuing on (briefly) in case that post reappears...it was definitely here before since the thread currently states there are six replies but one is obviously missing

Amp #4 = Mine #6 = 1x Copper Stone (81 PED, XIV), 1x Lysterium Stone (80 PED, XIV)

Amp #5 = Mine #7 = 2x Iron Stone (66 PED, XIII + 88 PED, XIV)

The 812 PED (XX) Blau certainly helped TT returns, I'm now back to just under 100% :wtg:
However, the loss of that post was a 'massive Blau' (excuse the pun :p) so I hope it reappears soon
Edit: Reappeared

Final notes
- Stop placing myself in a position where I have to estimate

Mineral ore only again w/ a double drop at the end of each amp

Amp 1 - Hell mine #8
- 60 Durulium Stone (XIII)
- 31.79 Caldorite Stone (XI)
- 68 Durulium Stone (XIII)

Amp 2 - Hell mine #1
- Completely dead amp

Amp 3 - Hell mine #9 + #10
- 61 Reggea Rock (broke the 54-drop dry streak)
- 49.25 Force Nexus (XII)

Amp 4 - Hell mine #16
- 87 PED Copper Stone (XIV)
- 70 PED Techno Rock (XIII)

Amp 5 - Hell mine #18
- 67 PED Lysterium Stone (XIII)

Final notes:
- Awful hit rate + below average claim sizes = Profits from previous HOF getting more/less cancelled out on the run immediately following it. Classic (ehh, at least I save on excavator and refiner decay :woot:)
- Back to just under 90% TT returns
- Decided I'll head over to Arkadia Underground, a place where I at least get to contribute to the returns of my single AUD :smoke:

Run #5 - Arkadia Underground

TT spent: 350 (2 x d-class) + 655 (5 x L7 amp) + 40.5 x 7, 283.5 (survey probes) + 5.74 (finder decay) + 1.50 (excavator decay)
= 1295.74
TT return: 722.63
TT returns for this run: 55.77%/-573.11

Since Underground has no partitioned domes/mines but is instead one large, interconnected cave system, I'll indicate where I started and where I ended up, and I'll drop amps in groups
Will be triple bombing (Mineral ore/Enmatter/Treasure) for this run, starting with the L7 amps since I'm just short of L10 Treasure Hunting

Amps 1 - 7
South from Arkadia Underground TP, mining big cavern place, working my way over to the Eastern Wall, then north to Fire Crystal. Last 2 amps were from Fire Crystal to Dead End
- Amp 1 = 54 PED Part of flint arrowhead (XIII), Growth Molecules (X)
- Amp 2 = Growth Molecules (X)
- Amp 3 = Energised Crystal (XII), Growth Molecules and Part of Fossil Tooth double claim (55, 71 - XIII, XIII)
- Amp 4 = Found some common dung...not a good sign
Khorum Alloy (XI), 53 PED Khorum Alloy (XIII)
- Amp 5 = 78 PED ChemSet (XIV), Magerian Mist (XII), 63 PED Quil Sap (XIII), 81 PED Part of Bronze Alloy (XIV)
- Amp 6 = Completely dead amp
- Amp 7 = Quil Sap (XII), 73 PED Quil Sap (XIII)

Final Notes:
- Didn't get a single mineral ore drop for the entirety of this run (which would've amounted to 91 consecutive ore NRF's )

Run #6 - Arkadia Underground

TT spent: 416 (2x L5 amp) + 198 (survey probes) + 4.06 (finder decay) + 1.14 (excavator decay)

TT return: 4 + 432.97 = 436.97
TT returns for this run: 70.57%/-182.23

Amps 1-2:
Purple Haze to Togolossi Camp to Cathedral Pass
- Amp 1 = Caldorite Stone (XI - Was expecting something more spectacular for my first mineral ore claim in nearly 100 drops, but better than another 91 NRF's in a row?), 54 PED Part of Flint Axe Head (XIII), 55 PED Part of Fly Amber (XIII), Force Nexus (XII),
- Amp 2 = Veda Stones (XII), Ares Head (IX), Ares Head (XI), Ares Head (XI), Dianthus Liquid (XI), Erionite Stone (XII), 53 PED Veda Stones (XIII),

Run #7 - Arkadia Underground

AKA Going off with a bang!
At this point, I'm ready to take a break from EU so this log will go on a temporary hiatus (some RL stuff has also come up unfortunately :/). In the meantime, I thought I'd treat you to the results of a Level 13 amp in Arkadia Underground. Irrespective of the results of the run, the hiatus will commence (though I have a 'hunch' about how this'll turn out...not pretty). It was a pleasure writing for all you (mostly) silent readers, and I will endeavour to continue this when I can (hopefully, it won't quite stretch out beyond a few months at the latest. I've left just enough on my card for a single amp and probes should I come back without depositing in mind. Edit: Nvm, actually got a claim on the amp...shock horror). HOF big and often, everyone!

TT spent: 468 (1x L13 amp) + 13 (survey probes) + 0.35 (finder decay) + 0.11 (excavator decay)
= 481.46
TT return: 258.00
TT returns for this run: 53.59%/-223.46

Drop-by-drop:
- Drop 1 (ore only) = NRF
- Drop 2 (ore + enmatter from now onwards) = NRF
- Drop 3 = 258 PED Azzurdite Stone (XVI)
- Drop 4 = NRF
- Drop 5 = NRF
- Drop 6 = NRF
- Drop 7 = NRF

Final notes:
- Got exactly one more claim than I was expecting

Hiya,

Ok, that wasn't an especially long break was it? ;)
In all seriousness, I've decided I'll just play EU intermittently - The issue I've mentioned is virtually resolved, leaving me enough time to do the occasional amped run, ensuring this thread doesn't just die off. I might even try to get some MU on my resources along the way (sacrilege!!!), though I can't say my current bankroll in general looks that good...(for obvious reasons, I'll be unceremoniously forced back into a break if my bankroll drops below a certain point, which I'm already near. If I start posting again after that point, it's because I've deposited)

All my occasional amped runs will be posted here to avoid clogging up the 'mining' subsection of the forums (though I wonder about the necessity of this considering how rarely people actually post to this subsection in general. Seriously, how is my thread still at the top after two days!?)

Low-scale amped run #1 - The Abyss to Widowmaker
Expenses = 262 (2x L7 amp) + 81 (probes) + 1.64 (finder decay) + 0 (excavator decay)
= 344.64
TT returns = 0
TT returns (%) and effect on overall TT returns (+/-) = 0%/-344.64

Amp 1 = Completely dead amp
Amp 2 = Completely dead amp

Final notes: I'd probably feel a bit annoyed if this wasn't the classic MA thing to do :duh:

- Will edit when I feel like depositing again -

NTS - Return to FOMA/HELL after. AU is clearly not working out at all

The Revival! - Hopefully for longer than 10 seconds :)

Hiya,

So apparently when I said 'a few months', I really meant 'the better part of a year'. Better late than never eh? I'm sure those of you following my log were not too broken up over this delay anyway though (all uhh...1 of you? I'm joking dw, I know there's more :p). Those of you who were really observant may have noticed I've been doing a bit of mining recently. I just didn't think the bankroll was sufficient to justify reviving this log though and I really didn't do that many runs (and for the record, no I did not make a profit. I don't think I even came close to 90% TT).

So why am I suddenly back? It's a pretty random story - I ran a red light while driving (at least I swear I did) and it just happened to be at one of the state's most heavy revenue-raising intersections for, you guessed it, speeding and red light offences. I'm almost certain that I saw the cameras flash too. But when all's said and done, it's been comfortably over 2 weeks (the usual time for receiving a fine) and I haven't received anything in the letter box. Apparently, I'm either senile or the govt just decided to let it slide (haha, good one?). Now, I know a bit about psychology and the whole foot-in-door phenomenon about commitment to something and seeing it through. Unfortunately, simply knowing isn't enough to dramatically alter my behaviour - my commitment to 'losing' *some* money is set! Therefore, I've decided to put in a couple hundred bucks that would have gone towards paying the fine so I can get back to my old bankroll of roughly 2000 PED...and still make a 'profit' overall with the fine considered (that's even considering the fact that the US/AUD exchange rate has been crap for ages now. Damn those hefty fines!).

Hope this isn't premature or anything and/or one of you actually work for the state government and are having a bad day (mercy? :D)

K enough rambling, time to start reserving some posts and to recommence mining! On a side note, in case anyone's wondering, I may consider mining more 'within my means' in future...just not the foreseeable future. The 'lowest' I hope to go here is planetside amped mining.

TL;DR I'm fine, which is why I'm back ;)

Run #8 (20/04-) - FOMA UN/FORTUNA

Will probably focus a bit more on Level 7 amps for now

Run #9 (20/04) - Around Oshiri Hearts

Rather short and sweet (hopefully?) run planetside to end the day.

TT spent: 254 (2 x L7 amp) + 338 (2 x L8 amp) + 120 (Survey Probes) + 5.27 (decay <-- now compressing finder, excavator and refiner into one) = 717.27
TT return: 563.44
TT returns for this run: 78.55% TT (-153.83)
Run hit rate: N/A - Recording the individual hits is a bit tedious planetside, so I'll be doing a rundown of the resources I get per amp (Edit - That was still surprisingly tedious :eyecrazy:)

L7 amp #1 (OLA #43 - Heard there's an event going on. Gonna see if I can pick up a global + will stay there if the hit rate seems decent after a couple of amps)
- 18.72 Solis
- 23.04 Azur
- 16.48 Narc
- 47.12 Lyta
- 9.6 Cumb
- 11.25 Dian

L8 amp #1 (OLA #43 - Decent hitrate, so will probably stay. It's like a funeral here though, so many damn mourners)
- 23.04 Azur
- 34.24 Narc
- 36.10 Lyta
- 10.65 Typo
- 42.70 Zinc

L7 amp #2 (OLA #43)

Final notes
- Didn't realise how much I missed getting actual MU until now. Wonderful ignisium drop rate in OLA #47 for the very short time I was there.

Final notes:
- The lack of mining sounds is driving me crazy. Relogging helps (sometimes)
- Now digging things up with a Genesis Star Earth Excavator ME/05, SGA Edition
- Why is profession level 28 merely considered 'good'!?
- Ouch...gonna temporarily switch to planetside mining

Relogging always fixes it for me (sometimes need to double relog). And I'm with you bud, this is by far the most annoying thing about mining atm LOL.

I hate it so much.

Yep!!! To be fair, double relogging almost always fixes it for me. When it doesn't, I usually can't bring myself to mine. Also having some sound issues with vehicles too - It really feels like the first vehicle you get into after you log in is the only one that will make any sound for that entire login session. Found that happening with my Sleip yesterday and my PRX Sports Car today. Guess the other vehicles must've gotten offended

Haven't had the vehicle problem, then again I really only use my sleip and occasionally newbie car. Might want to look into that bug, could be a settings issue or a driver problem

Hmm yeah, it very well could be. Will look into it if it starts to grate a bit more

Final notes

- First impression is that this place looks pretty underrated for mining - Very fair tax rate, doesn't seem to be any mob spawns except on those little island things and the MU of the ore/enmat is fairly good (perfect for the 2 or so other people out there who are like me and usually insist on mining for both no matter what)
- Absolutely did not get paid to say the above
- Got a skill boost on my last drop. Thanks MA

Run #15 (24/04) - FOMA (MIS)Fortuna

Hoping the increasing overall mining activity over the past week means something. Maybe this Asteroid will finally play nice?
Will start putting in a prediction in the final notes section before I even start the run, because why not

TT spent: 720 (6 x L7 amp) + 160 (1 x L8) + 210 (Survey Probes) + 5.74 (finder decay) = 1095.74

L8 Amp #1 (Dome 1: 5 drops, Dome 2: 5, Dome 3: 5, Dome 4: 5)
- 54.05 Growth (XIII)

Final notes

- Prediction: Started off okay, ended disastrously
Reasoning: To test whether precedence is a thing in EU mining
Answer: I hereby conclude from my sample size of one run that EU mining is 'dynamic'
- Started paying rather strict attention to my skill gains (Current rule is 4+ consecutive drops without any skill gains = change dome/area)
- Threw in an extra L8 amp at the end on impulse before heading back to Caly. Settled on 5 drops/dome for 4 domes. NTS: PED card is obviously allergic to my impulse
- In line with suggestions, I've decided to add another running total at the front and to start separating MU from pure TT (honestly should've done that at the start. Wish I could pull out the fabled "it's my first day" excuse but don't think that'll slide anymore haha)

TT spent: 600 (3 x L5 amp) + 223.5 (Survey Probes) + 6.08 (finder decay) = 829.58
TT return: 669.39 + 3 x 2 (L5 amp remainders)

Final notes

- Prediction: It'll be an average run
Answer: Twas a very dynamic run
- Very few skillgains all round. Got a bit tired of changing areas towards the last amp so I didn't strictly follow my skillgains rule there.
- Reaction to the 98 PED HOF: 'Oh, great'

Someone once asked me what F.O.M.A stands for in Rookie Chat

I told him...

F*:censored:* Over Many Avatars

:smoke:

Nice log, just one suggestion, you are including amp markup in your TT. So all your percentages are off by a little bit.
