So, besides whip/taming mobs and doing tricks, there's no other way to skill taming, lore, etc.?

Hhmm..
I just tonight used 20 ped worth of brush on multiple pets bringing them up to 100% affection and...
I got exactly two skill gains early on, Zoololgy and Dexterity. After that, nothing. Not a single skill gain.
Is there something I'm missing?
And don't even get me started on doing tricks. Waiting for a skill gain during that activity makes watching paint dry a very appealing alternative.

I don't think you miss anything. Currently, it seems the best way to get skills is to tame mobs, tame mobs and tame mobs...
