So this is about Pets.
Initially planets had their own native pets, Nusul, TabTab etc
Then MA on the ComPet theme introduced the Dragon, Devils and with much horror rabbits. We adapted and said ok, we can put up with it.
Now we have panda bears, dogs, cats! This is getting really stupid. A bloody panda bear has no place on Calypso, Arkadia, Cyrene, Monria or Toulan! Maybe on RT. I strongly feel that the NON-SCI-FI ComPet pets be isolated to a Compet planet. It pisses me off to be in the middle of battling robots to see panda bears running around.

This is supposed to be a SciFi game. MODs don't delete this next sentence as this has to be said so MA can see it.

You don't see EVE, WoW, Star Citizen or any other SciFi game doing this. Imagine how the Halo franchise would fair if Master Chief had a pet Panda?

This is out of hand and needs addressing. Keep the pets based on SciFi themes as per the planets.

Cheers
Bjorn

Deckard had a dog in the book the film Bladerunner was based on (Sci Fi).

But yes, you make a valid point. On the more positive side - how long did people wait for pet Atrox? :)

Yes I agree that the pet thing is starting to go too far , however .

Panda's in WoW was actually the reason I quit playing that ;)

I agree, once WOW started incorporating pets and pandas it became a game for children.

On the other hand, the idea of native animals as mounts works well with sci-fi theme in my opinion. The idea of going into battle with a Nusul at my side is kind of pathetic.

Agreed a Nusul is not a battle companion :) But a Teladon is!

Generally I agree, loads mobs that coluld be more fitting to theme, however until last RT stunt there was no real big problem or controversy.

I guess you did not played D3's secret level.
I really hope we will not get rainbow unicorns or other mobs anytime soon ;)

Agreed, it does feel like the game is getting getting completely smothered with new things (As JC stated previously) including all the "pets".

Too much, too fast already MA !

Yes all the new pets are great..the only issue I have is that MA is introducing new pets that are not apart of the game. We have so many creatures out there now we just don't need more. I, as many others, have been wanting taming for a long time so we could finally get the common mobs out there tamed and not just new RL pets or robots that look a hell of a lot like a corner hookers.

BTW thank you MA for keeping her on RT where she should stay.

Weird, and I thought I was waging a lonely battle!

Don't forget the magic rings.

Sci Fi is gone, it becomes fantasy game now :)

DID Deckard really have a dog? or was it synthetic?

Muffit from battlestar galactica (what is alarming it was a chimp in side that)

K9 dr who

Maximillian 6 million dollar dog from the million dollar man series.

I also got to mention Cherry 2000

Does Chewbacca count as a pet?

The Fi of this game was never really Sci, I reckon. (It's hard to find Sci in mindforce, and lots of mobs defy physics to keep balance)

The problem with some new stuff is that there's no Fi anymore either. Kitty ffs.

It's possible and not even hard to appeal to familiar images and still have your unique Fi. Think tiger rabbit. Or arret, which looks like a robohorse (behaves more like a robodog though).

A Robokitty with one eye red and other green would do no harm. :)

I'm more worried about where any kind of actual story-line went....

What Johan Roadkill said,

where did the storyline go?

What i find funny is that vixens, which are android are more scifi than panda, kitty bunny.
From a classic as Metropolis to ex machina, hell yes cherry 2000 included, female looking android were human companions.
Let me remind you the project entropia trailer. Was it actually a woman or a bot ?
What's worst ? whipping ? It''s entropia unverse taming mecanism. You have to tame a creature for it to follow you.IMHO neverdie did it right in the pet descriptions. It should involve programming, you would have to hack the bot.
Fact is, MA is gearing toward is new app, compet, which is geared toward a younger player base.
The side effect is EU is becoming filled with 10 years old geared props.
Atrox, which was a predator from the start finaly appeared in a puppy shape whith round curves. All pets became small sized to look like baby creatures, hence for kids.
Eu is a melting pot, and worst most of these things are coming from MA. Calypso is MA. I went rude toward atomicstorm aka arkadia fanboy previously but beside Pandi Pup, arkadia is with cyrene the most coherent planet. Hell, even rocktropia fits its wide theme. Toulan, well, it's rather mystic but still in an alternative futuristic timeline.

Recent NI ancient greece opening to quad and modern armament is no comment, i guess it's MA too ?
I like Buffs, but we should have implants, or various modifications not fucking rings.

MA do it in it's way as usual. They do things, which in itself is nice and i applaud them for that, but they fuck it in ways that always amaze and surprise me. It looks like MA is a gold fish. They do things but don't know what they did 5 min earlier, even less why they are here.

But let's back to androids, as it is a hot topic atm.It is out of fashion for a sci fi theme, it's in everyday's live.

Panda is more suited to 6 years old, they don't care about how they spend money, it's free. Mom and dad credits card are powerful twins. Perfect public for MA. Trend is here.
Webshop, puny pets, less RCE elements, welcome to Entropia Universe, a shiny theme parkfor kids?

From Wikipedia,

Science fiction is difficult to define, as it includes a wide range of subgenres and themes. Author and editor Damon Knight summed up the difficulty, saying "science fiction is what we point to when we say it",[2] a definition echoed by author Mark C. Glassy, who argues that the definition of science fiction is like the definition of pornography: you do not know what it is, but you know it when you see it.[3] Vladimir Nabokov argued that if we were rigorous with our definitions, Shakespeare's play The Tempest would have to be termed science fiction.[4]

Hugo Gernsback, who was one of the first in using the term "science fiction", described his vision of the genre: "By 'scientifiction' I mean the Jules Verne, H. G. Wells and Edgar Allan Poe type of story—a charming romance intermingled with scientific fact and prophetic vision."[5]

In 1970 William Atheling Jr. wrote about the English term "science fiction": "Wells used the term originally to cover what we would today call ‘hard’ science fiction, in which a conscientious attempt to be faithful to already known facts (as of the date of writing) was the substrate on which the story was to be built, and if the story was also to contain a miracle, it ought at least not to contain a whole arsenal of them."[6][7]

According to science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein, "a handy short definition of almost all science fiction might read: realistic speculation about possible future events, based solidly on adequate knowledge of the real world, past and present, and on a thorough understanding of the nature and significance of the scientific method."[8] Rod Serling's definition is "fantasy is the impossible made probable. Science fiction is the improbable made possible."[9] Lester del Rey wrote, "Even the devoted aficionado—or fan—has a hard time trying to explain what science fiction is", and that the reason for there not being a "full satisfactory definition" is that "there are no easily delineated limits to science fiction."[10]

Science fiction is largely based on writing rationally about alternative possible worlds or futures.[11] It is similar to, but differs from fantasy in that, within the context of the story, its imaginary elements are largely possible within scientifically established or scientifically postulated physical laws (though some elements in a story might still be pure imaginative speculation).

The settings for science fiction are often contrary to those of consensus reality, but most science fiction relies on a considerable degree of suspension of disbelief, which is facilitated in the reader's mind by potential scientific explanations or solutions to various fictional elements. Science fiction elements include:

A time setting in the future, in alternative timelines, or in a historical past that contradicts known facts of history or the archaeological record.
A spatial setting or scenes in outer space (e.g. spaceflight), on other worlds, or on subterranean earth.[12]
Characters that include aliens, mutants, androids, or humanoid robots and other types of characters arising from a future human evolution.
Futuristic or plausible technology such as ray guns, teleportation machines, and humanoid computers.[13]
Scientific principles that are new or that contradict accepted physical laws, for example time travel, wormholes, or faster-than-light travel or communication.
New and different political or social systems, e.g. dystopian, post-scarcity, or post-apocalyptic.[14]
Paranormal abilities such as mind control, telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation.
Other universes or dimensions and travel between them.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I find it impossible to point out any one thing, group of things, or ideas within the Entropia Universe that does not fall under that description.

This quote sort of summed it up for me,
"there are no easily delineated limits to science fiction."

probably wont be long until they sell pets to run around your ship and hangar...

Ships infested with rats?

You need a cat to get rid of those rats?

Are you giving them ideas? :p

I feel like the Sci-Fi theme has greatly disappeared when we have places like AG, RT, Monria, etc. Honestly, I hate the direction that the PP system went.

This game no longer feels like Project Entropia, it feels like a whacked out theme park.

I got a Panda today. Probably my favorite of all the new pets, but yeah, it has really gotten far afield from the original game. So, I will admit the whole thing is pretty silly.

We better be making a pantload of PEDs selling these things to ComPet players.

I find a lot of the pets are obnoxious, but there is nothing worse than browsing the auction house and having to hear the damn things. Instead of focusing on my next purchase, I'm constantly thinking "What the fuck is that noise?" or "Shut your stupid dog up". Now I find myself turning off the game sound completely or finding an non populated AH. If MA is going to implement childish crap I shouldn't be forced to see and hear it. Let's petetion for a "mute pets" button under the main sound options.

LOL you haven't heard anything yet..just wait a few more days and wait to hear what a baby Kong sounds like.;)
