I will campaign for a screenshot function, Few Scars to get his chrome texture and all those annoying years long bugs to be fixed. Hell, my first priority as your president is to have those bars to serve drinks. :drink:

i didn t read everyone but something catch my eyes.
the president is for entropia anyway. it s only the matter of mindark.
but they talk to the wow and lol player, explaining the mmo have evolve. it s maybe (surely) the best way to catch new player from other system to entropia. and nothing else. i thing it s a good move to hide that under a neutral election. and introducing to some player who are playing wow since age an adult universe.

-the player need have an entropia avatar and will have a box for begin surely full of universal ammo.

This ! - its a great pr stunt which has the potential to bring awareness of entropia universe to a grand amount of players from other games and if those choose to 'vote' they will get to start entropia with some 'goodies'.
Even if the job as president fails in the short or long run the pr campaign is bound to be successfull.

But nevertheless even if other games do not join in this will be the head of virtual governments (kinda the first representative of united (nations) governments) and the entropia officials will be elected when the president is in place - for those we will have our ingame voting/election system which may or may not include CLD's.
It is the wrong time to panic or be worried - forming a government is exciting and challenging but mostly it requires a great deal of responsible positive behaviour on side of the voters to make it a success and not to turn it into anarchy.
It is us who can contribute the most to wether this possibilty will become a reality or remains a fiction.

Not even if I was paid for it. It's going to be intolerable in both possible scenarios: if the president will be a powerless puppet, and if he really will be able to affect things and therefore will be buried under heaps of nonsense from the players deeper than the support :)

I agree, based on my years of playing this game and the interactions with MA through support, this website, and media outlets - I would not "invest" to get into this "unpaid" position. I can see Ark team and other PP have to "work" with MA's timelines and implementations to what they want to do. Lord knows we all speak up quite a bit here and through support cases and rarely much gets changed. And some of the things that change everyone wonders who even said they wanted that (mob bodies that stay after looted for example)
I can imagine being in this position and it being very frustrating. Tons of players would have expectations and MA may or may not respond. They have a history of putting out an ambitious idea and then either providing minimal backing to it or abandoning it almost completely. The fact that they announced voting THREE years ago testifies to that.
The history of people paying 5K for the Equus Quads tell me that there would be at least a few people willing to pay 1K to run for president. However, I think that fee is wayyy to high. 1K to get nothing or get a job that you really so far have no details about. My main question is if there would be any restrictions to your avatar once being in office.

I really just feel like this is "Pay us money to be a community representative because we took them away to make another game..."
It is a cheap ploy in my opinion and even though the idea may be good - it seems like a poor way of going about it. Once again - pay money for something that little or no detail is provided for.

WE PAY the money - we should have a dedicated community manager. If anything the president could be the main representative that talks to the manager to make their job easier and it should be more of a status and honor system. Also, like others have said - this sounds like a King position, not president - but it doesn't even matter. At least they don't have to bribe us for our votes - MA already did that (strongboxes for voters!)

Another weird idea by MA that IMO will mean not much in the end and more or less just be another cash grab by the company.

PLEASE VOTE FOR NONE OF THE ABOVE!!
 
The announcement of some kind of voting system has been around for as long as CLD's exist, in fact it was said right then that the two are connected. Only, with all that has been done to the game since then, it is really hard not to be sarcastic about it now. Power to vote against destructive changes and for restoration? Fat chance, I reckon, but of course I'm open for surprises. I only hope that the planet partners remain unaffected to the extent that they can continue to do their thing, which leaves me with choices at least. Like in the real world, you "vote with your feet" when your home turns unrecognizable and other pastures are greener.
 
To all:

I'm sorry for my last posts. I do hope this awaited for program will work for us all. I, like always, just had red flag alarms going off when I saw the FAQ were for some reason it stated that you will need to give this website your full ingame name, ID, Account address, personal ID and/or Passport. As many would know this simply would be marked as a scam site and yes I kind of freaked out here.

Voting rights will be an interesting idea that I liked about the CLD project. The only problem I see here is that MA maybe moving to a pay-to-vote program.

Also about the 1,000USD. I think this may have been an error in communications between MA and their advertising company not really understanding the value of PED. My guess is MA passed along that we will need to pay 1000ped. I would be more than happy to pay that and hope MA will give us an update here -- and fix the FAQ.

I guess all the wow players and eve players will really go for this, knowing that a lot of different companies are backing this.

I had my doubts that this would be another "empty promise" Mindark pr stunt.. I am soo glad all these other companies are backing this!

So all i need is 1000$ and good contacts to some china/Ru zombie bot networks. This is indeed very well thought and fairly executed. As said, a shining prime example where real goverments should take notes.

You omitted part of my post and quoted me out of context.
All who had issues with MA deleted database i mentioned and you omitted - had to prove it trough support.
Also all depositors on first deposit have few steps to do - to prove their identity, bank and that credit card is not stolen.

Sorry Dan i did not mean to quote you out of context, just to point out why i think they ask for those details for people to vote.
 
By identifying yourself as a citizen of virtual reality you will be sending a message to all developers that you value the time you invest in playing and you wish them to consider the needs and rights of the users as they develop the next generation of virtual reality MMOG's that will most certainly be even more immersive than the ones of the past.

I get that. But why, as someone who's been voted as "president" in one game, would other game developers necessarily take notice of your opinions?
 
Hypothetically... If I was to become president of EU, certain conditions would have to made... :wise:

1.) Immunity against pirates in space (An Air Force One type ship with automatic guns turrets)
2.) A "white" Castle
3.) A vixen pet that looks like Caprica 6 from the remake of Battlestar Galactica.

Can a guy dream a little?

You realize these are all Mindark linked partners right? It's not like some Intel, Microsoft, Apple, or any 'real' company is on board with this.

Entropia and MindArk are pretty much laughing fodder for most of the MMO world. This only adds to it. I mean on whose authority does MA operate to decide the president of VR?

I actually like the idea of Elected leaders in EU, but we could do it on the forums ourselves in an unofficial manner.

Just a thought.

Sure it wouldn't be "official", but could be a lot of fun, mayor of Calypso or something.

So, after a day of work, and letting this thing sink in...
they are going to spend some good money on this marketing plot, instead of on actual improvement of the game.

I sure am gonna vote: with my wallet.

I teach my students about critical success factors, you know, those essential things a company needs to do right in order to survive. MA should drop by and take my class someday.
