Virtual Reality Presidential Race Begins - PR Newswire (press release)

virtual reality, really.
I thought it was a game, this kind of things belongs more to second life/linden labs than entropia universe/Mindark.

Ok, here is my program, save the universe, i think everyone agree on that.

Now let's make it the MA way.
For that, i will hereby forbid hunting animals.
Next step is to introduce environmental tax on crafting terminals.
Miners will be regulated and should ask my approval before they drop a bomb.
Tamers will be banned and forced to play compet instead.

Every citizen that vote for me will be provided 1 garcen lubricant for FREE.

Let's all vote for Neverdie :duh:

I'd like to see the president of Calypso declare war against the president of Arkadia, smuggling activity and so on.. but a president of VR?

Q. If I Play World of Warcraft or League of Legends, why should I register to vote here?

A. The business models for MMORPG's have changed significantly over the last 20 years from subscription based games to Free2Play games with microtransactions. Virtual Reality will bring about a new era for MMOG's and gamers. By identifying yourself as a citizen of virtual reality you will be sending a message to all developers that you value the time you invest in playing and you wish them to consider the needs and rights of the users as they develop the next generation of virtual reality MMOG's that will most certainly be even more immersive than the ones of the past.

How many votes can collect someone from those big games and do we really need player of WoW for president here?

As long as multiple accounts exist in Entropia...this will never work.

A voting system of any substance would be a liability I would think, the moment new money came into this idea.

A company like turbine, or sony or whatever they want to invite, isn't going to just let some voter fraud happen on the levels they want to be at with this....(like a UN, or an Olympic committee, or a Red Cross or something) regarding some contract for million dollar ads or something.

Paid for by the Rumrunners for Rumson Committee.

Hey! I'm not "high-maintenance"! ;)

Do you all want to see some change? I may actually consider running; there is plenty that I could help with.

Honestly, this whole thing looks like an unprecedented PR stunt. Even if it's for real, I'm not sure that MA guys won't sober up tomorrow from whatever shit they have smoked up to come up with this and won't act like nothing happened. In any case, I highly doubt that the elected guy will have any power to change anything.

But if we really have to go through it, I'd like to see up there someone with a real passion for this game, who lives for and by it, and, if nothing else, won't harm it at least. If it comes to it, I'll vote for you.

:umn:
If voting starts Feb 2016 and ends March 2016, does this mean they announce the result on 1st April ?

Do you all want to see some change?

I need coders to fix bugs, developers to develop further all in game projects and existing or promised functions or professions and more entertainment, balancing dude to balance in game things and bring cost to play down.
If you are able to do all of this and you think to do it for free in reasonable short time then i vote for you.

Holy fuck balls!

I just was told about this thread.

This can be the best/worst thing ever. I can't wait to see what happens.

Star, when I beat you in the debates, you can still be my VP :D

My campaign motto is: "Yeah, I probably did it..."

Vote for Taco!

Edit: I just noticed it was for 4 years...I will probably be dead by then...that is a major commitment. It should be one year...two tops.

Taco taco!

Free taco for all voters on tuesdays!!

We could take up a few rounds of quote the POVR statement for those who cannot take so much ???? all in one go.
My first one on the weighted votes... where it says:
"Each registered voter will have one Vote".... but the weight of that vote will depend on your "experience of virtual reality" -:lolup::laugh::lolup:

and then:
"If everyone on a large social network registered to vote, those Votes would far outweigh the vote of the social network company itself. "

hahahahahaaaaaaaa!!! - is that the biggest 'if' I've ever seen? Hmmm, nope... I've seen an 'if' about if everyone in China jumped off their chairs at the same time.....

What's the next pick please folks?

When MA first proposed a system of voting rights I stupidly believed they meant they would present us with some ideas from the game, or we could present some, and that these would then get voted on, so that they could follow player preferences more closely.
That they would give all small investors (CLD owners) a voice. I even bought my first CLD's in that hope - :duh: what was I dreaming ?

http://www.planetcalypso.com/news/pages/2011/11/08/2907/index.xml
please note the following statements from that post..

Gothenburg, Sweden, November 8th, 2011 – MindArk, developer of Entropia Universe, announced today that it will introduce a groundbreaking new Citizenship System. This system will provide planet-wide revenue sharing to participants, as well as a forthcoming political system that will allow users to influence the future development of the planet.

Land Lot Deed holders will have the opportunity to take part in a Calypso Citizenship land grab. Certain areas will be opened on Calypso where deed holders can stake out their land plots. This system development is scheduled to begin in 2012 -Only 3 years late..not bad I guess in MA terms

Additionally, a "]comprehensive political system is planned that will allow Land Lot Deed holders to become directly involved with decisions affecting the future development of Calypso, with voting power relative to the number of Land Lot Deeds held. This system development is also scheduled to begin in 2012

In what way does the office of president fulfil the promises made in this design?
We were sold a complete lie in regard to voting rights being attached to CLD ownership.. now anyone who registers for this game on or before 31/Jan/2016 can vote, depo or non-depo, player or not. Oh yeah and voting is arbitrarily weighted..so that's alright then..

sits back and watches last of my trust in MA drift down the river and into the biggest ocean a Universe far far away has ever seen

When I first read the post I thought there must be a timezone issue since it seems to be April 1st over in Sweden.

There are so many issues with this.
It's not a democratic process if the votes are weighted. The role of the office of president is quite unclear. The constituency is unknown. Which real world institutions are we expecting to take this seriously so that relations and be built with them?

In the FAQ http://www.presidentofvirtualreality.com/#faq, they list teh current 12 coalition members, five of whom are actually Mindark re-badged. Oh and Next Island. That seems quiet deceitful, padding the numbers like that.

MA have made a commitment to CLD owners to build an planetary political system. They really should focus on that first and prove they have a fucking clue before launching into cross platform initiatives like this.

Great, now our virtual money is going to fucking politicians!

so well said :) and I love the Depeche Mode reference in your signature

I've added in the full FAQ text to the top of the thread.

BTW all this looks like a scam being that it is hosted at GoDaddy.com and with this sign:

VIRTUAL REALITY COALITION MEMBERS
Mindark PE AB, Entropia Universe, Planet Calypso, POPtropia, Next island, Planet Arkadia, Planet Cyrene, Planet Toulan, Virtual Tycoon App, Compet Game App, VegastoMacau.com Virtual and Online Casinos. Empaticus AB

I would check with MA here on this one.

But anyway: Taco for President!!

President Taco; "I did NOT have Sex with that...fembot!!!"
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

On a serious note, Granny is absolutely right, MA is indeed eating their own words with this.
But well, it's not like anyone's terribly surprised. OK, whatever, we might not like it, but this won't change a thing anyway...

One thing in this whole affair makes me cautious thou. Imagine for a sec if this new shiny President will become MA's puppet. If u read www.PresidentofVirtualReality.com, it's almost coded into it. Nothing easier for MA to do... We're all hardcore players, who wouldn't like to play for free with a nice profit on top like cherry?

Which for the rest of us means:
Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

EU players should be able to vote without registering on unknown site as MA have e-mails and all our data already.
Who owns "http://www.presidentofvirtualreality.com/" and what will be use of collected data upon registering?
For what we have gold cards and all security measures if we are invited to give our info to some unknown site?

Vote for Taco!

Man, I love you and sincerely consider you one of the most outstanding persons in our little universe, but I can't imagine you to stay serious for a day, let alone for 4 years :D. I bet that your first act as a US president would be parachuting from Air Force One onto Times Square naked.

If I needed someone to throw a billion dollars party everyone would talk about for a decade, I'd look no further and immediately hand you the keys of the money truck. But to rule my State? I don't fancy spending the rest of my days in a fallout shelter :silly2:

All too true...I wouldn't want to be part of any organization that elected me president anyhow :D

Lets just have that party...:yay:

Edit: maybe I can run in 4 years, when I have settled down a bit more...

My understanding from the FAQ is that this initiative is not the 'CLD voting system' that has previously been announced. That is a separate feature that is still being developed.

One of the responsibilities for the person elected would be to help inform how the CLD voting system is implemented.

Dan, I registered on the site. It asked for no information other than my email address.
The one I gave them was not the one I use for Entropia, so I see no privacy issues.

Additional information is probably only requested for those people who wish to nominate as a candidate.

Screw that.

I want to see the craziness that would ensue with taco as president.

Just imagine the decisions that would come from a drunk naked taco parachuting into times square from Air Force one.

You are joking right? Tell me you didn't! :)

BTW

Q. What do I have to do to campaign to become President?
A. Create an Entropia Universe avatar account. Send an email to candidate@presidentofVirtualReality.com with the following information: Real name, address and contact info. Copy of National ID. ( Driver's license or Passport). Your full Entropia Universe Avatar Name. Optional: Include a Short manifesto and Bio that we can publish. Provide a link to your own campaign page or website. Once you have sent your info, you will be provided with payment options for the $1,000 USD ballot registration fee.

isn't that all you need to get your password back from MA?
