So you are using TT Sword + Amp combo, pretty interesting :)

I might do this in future again, just not sure when though.

Yea, been reading that it give more hp and defense skills. Sounds nice in the long run. Eco-wise is a bit lower, but i'll see if it will affect my return %.

Trying out mining

Been thinking since I am half way through the last Berycled mission stage. I feel like taking a break from the Berycleds. Feel like trying out mining. Not sure if I should. I have been told that Mining takes a larger bankroll than hunting. Also it seems confusing to me. Some of the question I have been wondering about mining, while reading mining logs, video tutorials and guides:

1) some of the older guides talks about armor. Why does mining need armor?
I guess the Harrier adjusted speed boost is nice, but the old guides did not have harriers back then.

2) Some mining thread on the forums talks about double bombing, what is double bombing?

3) For the search radius, are the number on the minimap the distance. So if the finder search radius says 50, then I run 100 on the minimap?

4) Are the claim spawn location just random. Does it spawn randomly or spawns within the search radius?

5) Does the claim spawn location indicate anything?
It's just so strange why it don't spawn where I drop them. I'm just imagining a sci-fi movie/show, where some high tech probe/drone goes into the ground to find resources. The probe/drone gathers up all the valuables they find and send up the capsule of goodies for the main character. But that's not the case in Entropia :(

6) Does the claim gather up all the resource in the search radius?

7) For the search depth, if the finder says 200m does it get all the resource from 0 to 200 or does it stop if it finds resource at 100m?

8) how much bankroll should I save up for mining, so that I am able to cycle and ride out the low loot cycle?
I read that mining is much more volatile than hunting, so it will requre much more ped.

9) I only dropped some probes during the beginner mission with the free probe they gave me and for completing my mentoring. I just felt really random. For experienced miners, does it get boring during low loot period? Getting lots of misses in a row.

10)Do people walk for fruits, stone, dung while mining? or would that just slow things down too much?

I know I put up lots of questions, hopefully they are not too embarrassingly too noobish/stupid. I do appreciate the help. I mainly just want to make sure I have enough bankroll and knowledge before I really give Mining a try.

To answer your questions

1. You don't need armor
2.double bombing is bombing again after finding a claim (at the location of the claim) (not really recommended outside foma/underground if you ask me. It used to be good, MA changed it.
3. yes indeed; you got it mining range *2 is the minimum distance you should use between drops
4. it is prolly not completely random; but nobody really knows
5. no
6. no, thats why double bombing can yield results
7. it's average depth; it gets results from 5m to 400m or something; for example, a 1000m finder won't find anything higher than 500m and but will find 1200m and deeper at times
8. TBH; with 1000 peds you will struggle to create stacks of at least 100PED to put in auction; but twin peaks traders might buy. Find a good trader for crappy stuff you don't find often. 5k peds is comfortable unless you mine all over the place (literally)
10. just run; you'll find stuff while going to your claim. Walking means it takes a lot of time to move 100m to your next drop and increases the chance you'll drop with overlap.

also, mine for MU stuff; check maps and ore locations. Google it (or search forum).
And do the mining quests to skill up.

And there is nothing noobie about asking questions; smart people asks questions :)

hope this helped.

The probe seems to be basically just an expolsive charge. It buries itself into the ground but how deep exactly, we don't know. If it would drop down and explode right there it would kill the miner every time and this might complicate things a little.

When the probe reaches certain depth it explodes. Finder seems to be the receiver for the seismic waves (?) from the explosion. Kinda like underground radar, send out a signal then listen to the echo.

Result is a set of coordinates. Extractor uses teleportation tech to move materials. All very elegant. Why teleportation isn't used to put probes into the ground? Um that's a tough one.. for entertainment reasons I guess? :scratch2:

U can almost see the cone (or half-sphere) on the right, right? I'm imagining it's there. I mean, I believe it would be (sci-fi)-realistic if it was there.
If it's actually there game-mechanics wise is another question. Maybe hardcore miners can tell.

Thank you guys for your response that was definitely helpful. I think I will give mining a try.

Run#111 to #115

Finally back after a very long break. A lot happened irl. I will continue to follow the same format. however, I sold my melee set up before I took my break and now the melee trauma ampI mark up shot up like crazy lol. I guess I wont be continuing my melee set up. :dunno:For now I will just use the very eco tt pistal with the sinkardus amp. I use the tt knife as finisher because I still like having some melee skilling. Hopefully the melee amp goes down again.
