Is it me or is LOOT gone right down the pan ?

You're probably in the middle of a 'good luck phase.' I had one a while back, I got a 2.5k hof, the next night I got a 900ped allo and then a 1k mermoth, within the space of 2 hours, and lots of normal globals throughout the day.

...before the 2nd cup...

Many thanks to those who responded to my concerns, especially Alexis. I will file a support case with MA, and let you know how it goes.

As for not working the Repair Terminal properly, rubbish! I know exactly what I am doing. The way the terminal works lends itself to this sort of 'error' going unnoticed. What I mean by that is, you place your items in the hopper, set the percentage of repair you want done, click Accept, then Confirm. After which the UI closes and the items are returned to your inventory. Whether or not the repair has been accomplished might go unnoticed unless you take the time to immediately check. To repair anything else, you need to reactivate the Repair Terminal. In my case, I did not check the armour, because I had no concern about it's functioning properly. I do now. I am certain that this bug and this means of operation are in no way linked and that MindArk is not delibrately ripping us off.

Now-a-days, I am reflecting on certain items which seemed to give out all at once! How could my a104 unit simply cease to work in so short a time? It might just be that the previous repair had failed without my being aware of it. I might be barking up the wrong tree in all of this. Maybe the Repair Terminal failing is just part of the fun! Random failures, not unlike in crafting, wherein sometimes you win and sometimes you lose... I feel better now that this thought has hit me. Thanks MA! So my friends, as yet another element in the dynamic universe in which we live, beware that win you pay out your peds to get that item repaired, it is a proverbial crap shoot.

This brings me to one more topic, which has no place in the post or in this thread. I only now noticed the quote from the Mercury News, which is on the Entropia Universe website, under the Community section. It reads, "Like Vegas in Space". I'll grant you, it is a quote from a source external to MindArk, but the fact that MA chose to place it there, signifies something. I suppose this is the viewpoint they hope we will share. It's not so much a virtual universe as a virtual casino. Maybe we can put that debate to rest now...

Furthermore, and in conclusion, I'd just like to add that I am sorry to have taken such a negative turn. On a positive note, I love the game itself, which should be evident from the keen interest I have in recording all of my activities in my Diary. I really think that it grieves me to see such a fine infrastructure under the care and keeping of those who currently in power.

Sincerely,
Ché

Did some research.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/2005/11/would_you_pay_1.html

"I have the most famous virtual night club in the world,'' he said. "It's like Las Vegas in space.''

The spindoctors at MA have done it again. They take a quote made by NEVERDIE which was put in a blog hosted on the Mercurynews site, and pretend the quote was made by Mercury News.

Why shouldn't I be happy...nothing gives me more joy than to know that I am helping MA bosses to send their kids to college, and buy them nice cars.

Fade, feel this pain: They will use none of your money
to send their kids to college, nor to University, since both are public.
I guess the private colleges are not even allowed in Sweden. So only
that cars option ius left then. :wise:

I've had those also BUT they have never lasted 6 weeks in row, I keep expecting it to stop but no. Maybe its just the that my skills have hit a 'nice loot' level who know but I'm loving the loot system right now!

EDIT: and before the flames start saying 'bla de bla loots are not skill based..." I know what MA have said I'm talking about my ability to take down mobs quicker and more of them more econ than before.

there is a great big dial inside Marco's office. when he turns it to the left loots go down. when he turns it to the right loots go up.

from time to time he turns it to the left so the loot pool builds up. this helps the loot pool survive the UBER ATHs.

from time to time he turns it to the right so the average loot increases. this makes players happy and gets them through the low loot times.

right now, the loot dial is turned way left. this is to prepare the loot pool for the coming advertising. so when you select to view advertising in hopes of getting bigger loots you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, but in the run up and cool down after those two days, I had several weeks of good loots. Mainly Longu and Atrax.

Who, us? On this forum? You must be mistaken, we wouldn't say such things on here.

I have to agree with Kygon. Since 8.4 I have had my first HOF and two - albeit silent - globals. At first I thought it was to do with the new VU - leaving the ads turned on and all that - but I think also I reached a kind of landmark skills wise.

I'm only a noob of about 7-8 weeks, but I think as my Laser Weaponary hit 1600 and Rifle 1400 I could suddenly kill a new range of mobs - so Molisks Young and Adult (and sometimes scout) became easy to kill (and produced a shogun harness and an empty skill chip this week), and Caudatergus I could take all the way up to Alpha (and this mob produced my HOF).

At the end of the day I really have no idea whether things are going well at the moment because of my current skills; the latest VU; or just a lucky spell; but thought it only fair to post that not everyone is having a bad time at the moment. prior to 8.4 I had a run of not getting anything much at all, and I had to deposit quite a few times in a short space of time - so maybe that even has something to do with it?

you know if I had the time I could search EF and EP and show you posts saying that this VU is the worst loot ever for EVERY bloody VU I've ever been part of lol

lol, I don't doubt that for a minute.

But then, average loot has, for me, been dwindling down to the depths of I might aswell chip and and start again as Im not getting on average very good loots.

Despite getting more globals these days, they are just not covering the costs.

yes I had the same experience BUT at some point when u stick at it, you WILL start to not loose as much all the time :)

I hope so, my poor credit card screams at me everytime I pick it out of my card holder.

That only depends on how much he has withdrawn. If he reinvests every ped he gets from those appartments into buying new mobs than MA can give him another round of appartments without problems. It just means more people will be paying monthly fees for the appartment and paying for spaceships.

Im not quite sure what re-investing has to do with MA handing out a 1million+ ped loot, but I would imagine the mining taxes pretty much take care of any expenses that need to be taken care of, especially since they are also essentially free gifts since there is no costs involved in buying new ores to put into the ground. Then there are the hunting and shop taxes on top of that.
So, since in an interview a couple months ago (before he was gifted the 2nd 1,000,000+ ped of apartments) he stated he was already withdrawing large amounts of $ because of the asteroid, I dont think the "only depends" has much do with what MA gives away.

Sorry, can't concur here, I will pay for decay (repairs) ONCE which MA makes mega bucks on for no cost. I WILL NOT put up with a double or triple etc. decay and my hard earned peds MIGHT repair my weapsm equipement etc. If they go that route, I'm done here...IMHO that would be the last straw..

Cheers

I don't doubt it. All I am saying is that armour is a small part of my costs so I don't fret about it ped by ped and thus don't notice it much, and sometimes I really *don't* work the repair terminal right.

But the loots have been fine lately.

What loot?
What is loot?
Have you seen the loot?
I haven't seen the loot.
Perhaps their is no loot.
Perhaps its just a rumour
ITS NOT A TUMOUR!

=p

I don't really hunt anymore =P all because of our friend MA!

Found The Problem

Hi All,
If everyone will look at the bottom right-hand corner of the loot pool you will notice a big hole. I believe this is why the loot pool is running on empty.

Dolly :girl:

Possibly it will make people in this thread sick, but after posting I went out for a hunt and got a nice little global (atrax young, 56 ped + atrax skin). My third bugle ever. All in all I got about 100+ ped for 50 ped in weapons and armour over the last hour or two. And about 90 molisk teeth.

Died some times also, but you can't have everything...

Not gloating, just saying that the loot varies and always has, and if you aren't getting any it's not because MindArk decided to do away with the concept.

There can be no loot in one place, while it may be falling off the trees elsewhere.

Dosen't make me sick, just re-enforces my theroy that EU keeps track of how much you have lost, and when it processes you have about had enough, and are going to say the hell with it, it gives you a token good loot to intice you to keep playing.

Cheers

:) Ive always called it....tossing the doggy a little bone so he wont run away from home :)

but yes, I do believe in "banking/funding" your next hof/global. As a miner I learned this long long ago, also something Silver confirmed earlier this year.

Yes, something many of us have learned and is what other people call personal loot cycles.

I have been used to getting 1 small mining HoF and 1 or 2 mining / hunting globals in a good spell of a couple days inside roughly 2 week period - still losing overall ofc and being content with my bones :dunce:

However, the last 3 weeks has seen me put down 1500 bombs / 1200 probes ( mostly amped )for nothing bigger than XII and about 280k ammo in same period yielded the magnificent high of 22 ped and Vigi (F) thighs.

So, if I still hold in cycles, I would expect my next bone to come from a dinosaur. More likely it will be a tiny one and yes, I will probably choke on it :(

As far as the current "loot" situation seems to appear...I did a little search for a post I made back in Feburary in respoce to then recent news of an upcomming Advert system that increases the loot size lol.

lol, the way I see it, it will be like mining just went thru, and how other things have been in the past... Im sure most were around when skill gain decrease happened, then told that if used higher decay (better) weapons/armour/etc we would see increased skill gains.

So, just before it comes out (ex:mining amps) loot sizes will be decreased across the game (as mining was), then there will be a device offered in the next VU (adverts) that will increase your average loot sizes, etc.

Personally, I cant wait to see Bery's running around in Nike's  the images have haunted me for months :D

...not that they would actually do this....is just a crazy dream I once had

edit: though if this holds true, and nothing is currently "wrong" with the loot system....then next VU we should see the Advert system up and running and the loots will return to normal again. umm, I mean increased
