Stolen Chair!

Ok so this has happend to a few people im sure and i guess I must have been asking for it ....so I buy a chair ..just a basic chair just 6 peds and wanted to use it just to sit on while i have to trade...my feet get sore. and i know I have to be carful about whos around me when i get up to retrieve it. Well I'm sitting at Twin Peaks talking away, when i decide to stand up I get a message saying you may not perform this action while sitting , then you may not perform this action while standing ...and so on every time I push sit down or stand up....meanwhile im sitting in my chair unable to get out at all ....so I look for the closest person to me and click on private chat...my avatar finally gets up and runs towards them ....I quick stop and try running back but A man in full Vigi Ran by snagged the chair and went through the teleporter befor I could get a screeny of his name and society ...which I only saw for a split second...not long enough to read it. I guess im sort of upset because i really lost the chair do to a bug not allowing me to stand up. and because i would expect this from a noob but someone who is well off to steal a small6 ped chair that I had for about 30 min is just ... :mad: well thats all :duh: ....wish i still had my chair :hammer:
 
at the time it was picked up, nobody was in it, nothing wrong happened here.

If you sit in a chair in twin and don't expect someone to grab it the very second you get up...

when you park your car if someone steals it did somthing wrong happin ?... someone took something that did not belong to them ...in which case they stole ..they know they stole it and in which case it is wrong ...i expected as much however i myself will never take anything that does not belong to me IT IS WRONG!
 
OK the guy who took it didn't break any rules but that kind of petty thievery is pretty mean imho.

I have a spare chair if you want it - PM me

as soon as you vacate the chair in the game world, you have no claim to it nor any proof of ownership.

I'm not saying what he did was right, i'm just saying it wasnt technically wrong, either.
 
I was relaxing on my Pall stool a few weeks ago at Nymph when i became aware of a couple of individuals eyeing up my prized bit of woodwork. I thought to myself 'hmm, when i get up, the stool is gonna go...'

So I waited and waited... about 30 mins passed and the two guys just stood there looking, occasionally offering comments like 'nice stool'...

After a few more minutes one gave up and ran off. So I waited some more...

After another 15 mins I thought now is as good as time as any to get up and make a grab for my stool - I might be lucky...

So I got up and grabbed at it, but I was too late. The sly little shit had nicked it.

I was more pissed at being outwitted by this guy than by actually losing the stool. My pissed-offedness was exacerbated by him asking for 5 PED to get it back!

I just am amazed to see how far some people go for 60 cents USD.

And the argument that "I can get away with it because it is not illegal" doesn't hold any ground. In real life, society makes laws. Not some money-focussed bunch of grabasses who hold their customerbase in the utmost form of contempt.

I seriously wonder if the people who use this argument would do the same in real life if they thought they could get away with it legally.

No, nicking this chaps chair was not against the *rules* but it was just petty and spiteful - an act not borne out the need for a chair (or its paltry monetary value), but from a desire to give someone the shits.

As simple as that.

Here in EU we have juveniles - both chronologically and mentally. Its the latter that we see reported here...
 
yet one more reason this newb isn't going to bother to donate. there are just too many wholes still in this game. i still love playing it, but hell worrying about weather or not someone is going steal petty things just because "it's not against the rules" blows my mind.

btw, viagra i've got some boards sitting around in storage if you want them they are yours so you can make another chair.
 
it should just be impossible to take a chair like that. You should be able to pick up the chair while you are still sitting down. People who regulary sit in chairs and get robbed should all file a complaint with MA to change it.

Agreed I think items should all say "sorry this item belongs to another avitar" when someone trys to pick it up off the ground unless who ever puts it on the ground specifies otherwise.

oh and can a chair be colored ...i would really like a blue chair =-) ....one that CANT be stolen
 
Why not if you drop / put an item on the ground you retain ownership of it for 5 seconds giving you a chance to pick it up again if necessary?

if people could just drop stuff on the ground and not allow anyone else to pick it up, then the world would be a massive storage container and there would be crap everywhere.

maybe they could add an option so that if a chair is droped and you get up your avatar will automatically pick it up. that way it saves your chair and dosnt liter the world with items. just my 2 cents.
 
Damn thieves, shame people have to resort to petty crimes like that, but then again according to MA, its not actually a crime. I think chairs should be an exception to the rule, but whos to say people dont clutter the world with chairs. Rather be able to walk around then have massive chair lag. Lame it happened but does make for a somewhat funny story. :) Maybe a body sculpter can take a look at those blisters for ya.

If run across the blackmarket ill look for those chairs/stools taken.
Any particular markings on em? I like to engrave mine.

Wonder if MA could counter this idea though: :D
I know the most valuable things taken here are the sentimental value, and relief for your foot pains. Whos to repay that? They took an item with a set value, and thats legal when its in the world, but I see no mention of non-reimbursement of the sentimental/pain reduction value. We need lawyers in entropia, to fight for the rights of victims like you. You need compensation for your loss, pain and suffering over this horrendous issue. And the thief needs some punishment for sentimental/relief theft, since the item theft is not punishable according to MA law, the thief needs to repay you for your pain, loss, and suffering.


But then again between MA and lawyers, noone else would have anything left ;)

I wonder if the bugs with the chair were caused by someone trying to pick it up, while you were sitting in it... :confused:

Chairs and most furniture no, stools and I think all other light grey items- yes. (Check them- it now says if they can be coloured.)

I also decorated the balcony for neverdie,s wedding with mind essence and xmas candles , they have been stolen also :( becus the balcony is onli for vip people it makes me evan more sad that someone stole it :mad:

I dont think that people do these things for the few pecs of value of an item, but rather only to piss people off.

The person who nicks a pall stool or chair is the same person who get a hard on from seeing someone upset.

I do the same sometimes. It is entertaining to see the people that congregate when you do that, I can't help but crack up while sitting here. Either way one sunny day at camp phoenix a guy grabbed my chair but then proceeded to open trade and give it back. The person that stole your chair is pathetic and has no honor.

I have to say, this is one of my favourite EF threads; it really makes me laugh.

It begins (to paraphrase) with: "I dropped my chair at a TP, not thinking for one moment that another avatar might pick it up".

How bizarre that one avatar can drop an item in view of other avatars - and then wonder why another avatar wants to pick it up!

PS Waperboy - the "equiping a chair" idea is very good one....
 
In terms of people stealing stuff, it always saddens me that people steal items players have left at the memorial on Memorial Island. I know quite a few people who leave a couple of ped or some fruit up there every so often. I occasionally leave a piece of fruit there myself, but they never last more than twenty minutes before someone comes along and steals them :(

Stealing from Mem. Island is really the lowest one can get. Would be nice if the area surrounding the monument is flagged at "drop only" and not "pick up"... I dont think it's really that difficult to do that.

i meet this person looks like hes ben playing for a long time nice armor and a cool gun i said can u show me half of the tp in the map 9k sweat he sid cool
well he took me to twin peeks with all my hard earndsweat i got mad all most broke my tower well it fell on the floor it ok but im not guy just loged out never seen him agen it was werd the he was sweating dry creachers i should for stuk to my gut darn it im trying to rase more sweat takeing very long time tho :( :mad:

If you ever need a TP run ask here on the forum.

There are usually some willing players at Phoenix too.

Any decent player wouldn't charge you for it either.
