Question: Question about tiering up armor

The only way to get your armor to increase the tier is to wear it and get hit.
Say you want to work a specific piece of armor like gloves.
Do you think the gloves would increase faster if you wore the gloves only and no other armor, without plates ?

I'm pretty sure that wearing just the gloves wont make it tier any faster, dmg is allocated randomly to different areas as far as I know. So just wear the part/parts you want to tier up when hunting mobs that do damage that the armor has protection for.

I believe that it doesnt matter if you wear your gloves together with the rest of your Armor or wear them alone. The reason I believe this is that any mob you encounter appears to hit you in specific spots regardless of the armor you have on. Ive noticed that mobs tend to spread where they hit you (body areas) which is why one piece of armor doesnt wear out faster than another. Just wearing your gloves will help only because you wont be damaging the rest of your set.
