Hi all, I'm starting my next quest. I'm going on a mission to see if I can tower on planet surface using a small amp (1 ped decay amp or lower).
Some of my mining history. On Nov 2012 I hit a 9.1k ped gazzurdite on Caly using a Level 2 (L) amp. A few months later Feb 2013 I was lucky enough to hit another tower, an 8.3k ped blausarium, same amp size. Since then I had moved to bigger amps, level 5's. June 2013 I hit a 4.2k belkar on Caly. Fast forward a year or so, Aug 2014 I hit a 4.8k caldorite on Monria, and finally using a level 8, in June 2015 I hit a 4.6k on Caly.
Its been a good long while since then, and what I've noticed more recently is big multis on small mobs reappearing. Many say it's not possible to hit them with small amps anymore, I don't agree. My philosophy is that if you can hit a huge hunting multis, trox young (10k+), longu young (8k), or nusul (6k), then it should be possible to do the same mining. Obviously, they are different professions, but I don't think there is a big difference as far as the system works, 1 drop=1 kill. The difference in mining activity vs hunting activity could be the reason you don't see many if any surface towers now. The rarity of the big multis on small mobs shows that it could take ages to get an equivalent one mining.
But on with the show, I plan on exclusively mining using my unlimited amp, and staying consistent as possible. To minimize changes to my loot potential and other contributing factors, I will solely be mining for the duration of this log.
My gear setup is as follows:
F-106 T8.9 I may occasionally enhance, depending on the area.
Terra Amp 1 Gold Rush I'll be using this little baby exclusively.
Excavator ME01 not a very fancy excavator, and slow as molasses. I may buy an adjusted excavator once I sell some auds later.
Mod Hermetic ring, Silver rabbit for the extra speed boost. Probably mainly the ring.
Skills:
Prospecting 6293, prof. level 52.2
Surveying 4469, prof. level 42.96
Thank you for reading my log, I will post my first run once it is complete.
