Ok cool :) but what is it?

well, I guess an instance that you can enter from anywhere and not needing you to go to an entry point npc or cave etc.
Also a step towards player-run instances maybe, either rented or bought instances like mini land areas.
For once I'm not going to criticise - it may be a good feature, maybe not.
We shall see...

Zero critique from my side, I am very curious what this is but even as a "teaser" this gives very limited info. Could be anything :)

From the next VU, trade terminals will carry an essential ingredient for this instance - Nanolube.

Its the same level ingredient as Nanobrain and Nanomarkup but for some reason people prefer Nanolube so they can Nanocry.

Since its an UI, it's doubtful that it will be anything advanced. Probably compet related. Otherwise I'd be surprised.:ahh:

Now that I think about it I do seem to recall an octagon style pet tropia ehm compet picture a while back the design looks similar to the walls of the gate. So mayhap an petoctagon instance.

compets!?... :)

I don't think so, at least not directly...

My take on this is that some people who work at EU are very good at English and selecting exactly what words to use - and others aren't. Generally, the wording of marketing stuff seems to be very carefully chosen, so what can just three words tell us?
Battle simulator instance: I think this is going to be built around the story of the robot invasion and that we will train against 'simulated' robots. We already have various bot instances, though, so what would be really different and what would be a sort of rebranding to get more people active?

Point one: access from anywhere presumably means from ANY planet, so it is content accessible without travelling. What does this mean in terms of planet partner revenue/MA, or even a new splitting of this? We know that underground instances are not part of underground revenue, for example, so could MA be up to something here? I'd like to know more about this point as we move on...

Point two: I don't know much about ND's instances, but I believe players can invest in different mob levels/loot packages. Again, the EU platform may be moving more towards handling more specific and smaller revenue areas, including individual 'ownership'.

What I am trying to piece together is possible connections between the development of: land plot functionality, ComPets, instances and maybe also why space has had to wait so long without an upgrade.

Are we due for a new primary version number for EU soon....? ;)

Maybe we can try out items etc in stimulated environments before you buy them. Might also be away to play for free to some extent.

I like it but at the same time I worry that features like this help take away from the RCE elements of EU. We will see. Maybe it will be a new set of tools for entrepreneurs which would be good.

It is the latest buzz in the gaming world.

CTP

or

Capture the Pet

The ammo spent during land grabs have inspired MA to give us low-life commoners the same possibility to battle it out in an epic way. The winning team will be able to keep the pet together until the next CTP is announced.

Battle Simulator

So the chat will now be like...

[Some Avatar 1] I'd do some BS if i had money

[Some Avatar 2] Ima do BS when my wife logs on

[Some Avatar 3] I'm tired of BS, guess I'll do some real hunting instead

[Some Avatar 4] Can you fap while doing BS?

Truly EU is the weird uncle of teh interwebz. :yay:

Oh, I forgot earlier about the plans on Ark to get firebase teams to fight each other in some way. Maybe battles will be more than just 'solo/team' instances against AIs, but also have pvp, yes.
It could be interesting to see if motherships and privateers (which are also instances) also become places where battles can occur....
Hopes too high??? Dunno.... there has been the topic of controllable mechs for several years too ....

Well MA, will you be tieing some of all these knots together now soon?!

This is sort of what I would expect it is. Couple years ago I made the suggestion to make a training dummy area. In this case, you might be able to load up with whatever item to test it out before buying it or rather to prevent getting scammed by someone talking up or down an item without any data behind it.

Last year MA announced:
"We are pleased to announce that the revolutionary new system enabling Entropia Universe players to supply pets to ComPet players in return for PED will be available soon.

The first tradeable cross-platform pets will be ‘level-up pets’: pets that can only be used for levelling up existing pets in ComPet. ComPet players will be able to level up their pets faster using this method, so this will create a market for trained ‘level-up pets’ within Entropia Universe.

The ability to transfer ‘regular pets’ from (and to) ComPet will be introduced in future releases.

That 2014 roadmap mentioned:
"Battle Arenas will be introduced which will allow tamed creatures to battle one another. Each battle will be unique, with a wide range of offensive and defensive pet buffs and upgrades along with customisable attack and defense profiles."

Assuming battle arenas was renamed compet.
I'll guess the 'battle simulator' has something to do with compet.

Here's those 5 pictures from that 2014 roadmap:

space battle simulator?

I hoping for space battle simulator to train with quads.

If the picture is any indication, it can't have anything to do with cartoonish Compet. Entirely different, cold military style, way closer to Calypso origins than most of recent stuff.

Maybe it's something like this.

It's really sad that this isn't want Compets is today. Remember as of now Compets has no reference to EU with it's own story line that at the end would need a major overall to even come close to linking it to EU as MA is now trying. We can only hope MA can fix this issue and fast.

Anyway, my guess is that MA is trying to scale down Compet to give us the battle part of Compets and link it into EU which I hope will not launch a second application using the UI.

I hope it is this, street-fighter beat up for pets would be cool.

Hopefully this has nothing to do with the waste of space that is compets. C'mon MA, ditch that piece of shit and get on with Entropia.
