All I'm saying is, there's 10 winners in 10 categories, where's those guys' posts????

All we seem to have here is a bunch of people like you whining about how unjust their crafting runs are...

Frankly I'm kinda sick of it
just check what they craft on tracker

    nothing to say more

Each of us has their own opinion of this game, and our own personal and moronic reason for staying here.

When I started in 2004-5, I drank too much Southern Comfort while playing. Down the tubes went thousands of dollars.

Then, I actually saw a chance to come out ahead in this on-line casino. Nope - after $10,000 more it didn't work.

Then, I just realized I'm bored, like talking to friends from all over the world and have nothing better to do, so I stayed, but my play time is 1/100th of what it used to be.

Sure, there's a few (maybe a dozen) players who have so many skills, such great armor, weapons and other toys that it's damn near impossible for them to NOT win every contest - and there's a few who have an unlimited bankroll to sink into crafting that it "seems" that they're hoffing daily.

The reality is that MA couldn't care less what we think, what we say, who comes and who goes. The strange thing about gambling is that no matter if you KNOW the odds are stacked against you, the true gambler will keep putting coins in the slot machine because (as we all know), "it's gonna hit someday".

No matter how bad EU sucks for most of us, we'll keep stuffing coins in it's slot. It's human nature.

As for the Q & A sessions MA granted us, here's my take of all of it:

honestly i don't think popularity is the games main problem.

Just go look at camp icarus, it's more or less 24/7 the most populated area on caly.
The main issue is player retention ... i would be surprised if even 5 out of 10 make it past a day and given what i hear from mentors at best 1 out of 10 stays for more than two months.

There are quite a few issues that contribute to that ... some easy to fix others are very fundamental and probably impossible to completly negate.

Let's take a look at what challenges a new player is going to face:

    1. The UI
To say it as polite as possible, the user inferface is a bit unorthodox.
The incoming camera system may or may not help, we will see, but overall it is an insane hassle to setup the ui to your liking as a new player. (heck as a returning player it almost made me ragequit immediatly)

This has to change ... altough the details about how might be a bit too much for the scope of this post.

    2. The tutorial missions vs reality
Don't get me wrong, i realy think that the innitial missions, with the amo rewards are great and most likley are the main reason anyone actually makes it past the first day.

That said it is misleading as hell.
Overall those missions reward activity ... the faster you power trough them the faster you get more amo a decent gun (bukins) armor parts and so on.
Except maybe for the gauntlets restriction on daily tokens NOTHING teaches new player to pace themselfs.

Once they got past the few "new" missions which net an amo positive outcome they suddenly have to face the realy old missions that come next.
And well those missions were never designed in a way to actually help prolong the new player experience.

Basically the game teaches new arrivals that it pays to do missions fast, just to immediatly turn around and throw missions at them that are going to completly drain them of what little they got.

    3. Teleporters and the "new" hotspots
The teleporter unlocks a new player gets are still from the days long gone.
Port atlantis might be nice to have, but it's been probably close to a decade since it was the most important center for the community.

Right now new players don't only have a very limited selection of teleporters but the ones they have are for mostly dead places.
Anyone new needs to ask/beg for help to get even the most basic teleporter unlocks.

Honestly, just give new players all teleporters on the main continent ... there is simply no benefit to restricting them to a set of dead tps.

    4. The first drought
Once the first free goodies run out (or the amo from the starter pack is spent), any new player will face what in my oppinion is their last big hurdle.

And to some extend this is fine ... after all the game can't keep giving free handouts forever.
That said, currently there is not even an attempt made to mitigate that.

Sure the choice to deposit and keep going or find alternative methods to fund your fun has to come at some point.
But wouldn't it be much better to at least give players that end up in that position a somewhat guided way back into it?

What i would recommend is something like a one time only questline that gets active whenever the newbie either runs out of amo/ped/pobes whatever the best metric or maybe reached a certain account age (shouldn't be too hard to figure out how long on average it takes players to hit that point)

Idealy this questline would, be rewarding AND force breaks onto the player.
Basically you get a mission and the tools to do it and even end up with a slight surplus BUT you only get to do it once a day/week AND it is made very clear that this is the last freebie you are going to get.

Heck maybe even force each mission part of it to be unlocked by increasing sweat amounts.
(Wouldn't hurt to get rid of some of that surplus anyways)

This would give them enough time in an economically stable BUT limited state, to make depositing a very enticing choice, without forcing them to completly stop exploring/enjoying the game.

Those are the main issues i see ... much more ofc could/should be done

yeah, where are those winners you claim exist

and i'm sick of those fanboys claiming everything would just be fine, even when MA does major fuck ups and of MA refusing to acknowledge that they've fucked things up.
I've point their fuck up out the day it went live (the VU in december 2017), now we're here, 14 months later, still only has partially been corrected and all there is denial that the fuck up happened...
Alukat I really dont what you got to be so upset about. You are not paying any money into this game, so you have nothing to lose. At least you found your self in postion where you not doing weekly depoits or even monthly.

but i want to craft stuff that requires >83% TT-return to break even with MU again without having to depo thousands of dollars...

i depo'd $150 back then specifically for shack-a-lacka amp crafting, because i knew the return will be >90% pretty quickly and i would depo again to progress to higher/bigger crafts (20-40 PED per click segment) but the way the game currently is a $150 depo simply won't cut it, i wouldn't even feel comfortable with "only" a $1000 depo, so there's no point in depoing at all...

If feel going to next level is to expence for ped card, then your not ready. I tried mining in hell last year with L5 amp ,but it was killing me and my ped card could not handle the down swings. Evewn though i over L50 prospecting i am still not ready. I dont if just down to my ped card or i just dont have skill yet. I know by populer belief that indoor mining is major gamble, but i also know it works for others. I just have not got that far, so i have adjusted my stlye and its working at the moment.

Thing is, i could craft that bigger without hesitation before they started that whole loot 2.0 thing, if it has MU, it's gonna get crafted and if it doesn't have MU i'll craft it anyway and make it have MU soon. Now, with the unintented increased volatility, it just feels too risky, even though i have way more peds these days. It was a downgrade for me

NPCs and missions are actually not easy to locate. Without looking on Entropia Wiki, half of the time actually finding the npc is a major hassle since they are strung out all over the place and are hard to locate. The mission tracking thing that lights up the NPCs that you need to go talk to next makes it a little easier, but there's a lot of missions where that doesn't happen. For new players or players that don't realize that the wiki exists, that could be a problem with retention imho...

Also doesn't help when npc may be on one side of a planet and the actual location to do the mission on the opposite side.

Some of the quests make finding the npc a part of the quest. In those situations it is a little fun. At all other times, it's a major hassle. Arkadia's way of doing it by putting most of the quests in to a terminal that's easy to find isn't a bad thing.

On new planets like Next Island or Cyrene, it's a hassle too. I haven't been to Next Island proper in a while, but what I remember is that the NPCs were all lined up in a row next to one of the TPs and you had like 12 or so npcs all standing next to one another with no idea of which one you needed to actually interact with.

Cyrene is kind of the same way on initial visits. It made a little more sense on subsequent visits, but on first go round it just looks like a lot of npcs standing around picking their noses giving the player NO direction at all...

In my opinion all NPCs should give you some sort of instruction EVERY TIME YOU TALK TO THEM, even if you aren't on their mission currently, and that info they give should guide you to what you are supposed to do next, or give you some sort of clue as to where to go to talk to next npc in the mission, etc. Most don't... most are simply nonresponsive, which makes the game look stupid in some ways... at least to some newer folks I think... and could lead to frustration and quitting I suspect.

Better interaction with tracking down which npc to talk to next, or what to do next would be very helpful I think. In the starter missions on most planets there's a lot of hand holding that is nice, but after you get so far past that it's like what the heck do I do now, which I think throws some players in to the start of a retention problem... I think some of Calypso mission chains that have you run around to gather more TPs, etc. helps a little but not much. Most other planets don't have anything like that.

On rocktropia unless you visit the consolidated thread here on this forum I suspect it'd be difficult as well... especially as some Wiki's like the ones tied to entropiaplanets still have info about from before Rocktropia did their consolidation of servers, so a lot of old info isn't even relevant any more, and I suspect the same could be said of Cyrene pre-downsizing of servers, etc.

There is a community manager here, Ludvig, and a few other similar folks on other planets, but they don't typically do anything with the wikis, or visit more than one forum regularly, so there's a lot of misinformation out there all over the place that might be driving players away as well. When the planets all split and all went to different forums and websites, it created a separation of a lot of info, which makes it hard for players to find the right info they really need, especially as there is not a lot of help in game. There are some community help in the form of support tickets, support chats, etc. both in game and out of game, but a lot of time support simply says go ask the community or there's nothing I can tell you about this, so in a lot of ways vague support just makes the situation even worse and drives some players away I think...

Also not so helpful for retention is that there's a major lack of story line... just a lot of iron missions... which are boring unless you love to grind yourself to sleep every day.

It isnt more popular because people like this exist:

    https://youtu.be/155D7_Evkqo

550k people Saw that you don't loot mobs, you Just shoot the next one.
Everytime this Guy Gets something to Read he goes "blablabla" and presses a button
Unfortunately a lot of players like this exist. This one actually has a job doing reviews. They don't play our game and that's a good thing.
