How about making crafting a little more creative - without having to change "everything" into, say, something like 2Life where people write scripts etc.
I was thinking about some liberty in combining parts, as in parts one needs to make Items.
For example. You have a BP for a vehicle. To make it, you also need BP's for a number of parts - needed to actually use the vehicle BP and make one. Much as it is right now.
But what if you could make different of "levels" or "types" of the parts needed to make the vehicle. Say the engine. There could be Engine BP level 1 to 10, so if you use Engines level 10 you would get a faster vehicle than if you used a level 1 engine. You could choose, when using the Vehicle BP itself how high the quality of the parts you'd want to combine.
So you could have a BP for, letscallit, a "GeoTrek DogDay" weapon. Depending on the level of the parts you choose to use, it could come out with low DPS, limited range and low durability. Call that a "GeoTrek DogDay Slacker". Or you have the BP's for the best level parts, make those, craft and get a "GeoTrek DogDay King".
Level/quality of parts assembled could affect everything: Durability, DMG, speed, range, eco, depth, etc.
Hence making it possible to make bespoke gear: Need range but not durability? Combine accordingly. Need high firerate more than range? Set it up.
I bet making this happen would be a nightmare when sorting out the economy of it all. It would have to be a balance so that items crafted are worth the trouble without messing totally with existing gear, for one.
Might also throw into it some (likely L and very rare, expensive) BP's enabling the crafting of Unlimited versions of whatever.
Imagine the options!
