MMOWC and NEVERDIE

So as a fair few of you would have noticed today the prize medals for the MMOWC 2017 were handed out to the winners of the 4 divisions of MMOWC.

The method of prize distribution chosen by NEVERDIE was to award the participants with medals which were to be handed into a 'Glory Hole' to receive your prize to placing in the MMOWC.

Today I woke up to see that almost all participants had handed in their medals with the following prizes (at a minimum confirmed by EL, possibly more prizes were won)

So now that medals have been handed in at least 7/8 of the participants in Elite/Pro/Am received MMOWC Rings and Armor Pieces with all Elite and at least 1 Amateur receiving guns in addition to their rings. Pro-AM division however has received 0/4 Rings, 0/4 Guns and each participant has received 1-2 armor pieces.

The Pro-AM competitors (the winner of which actually came 2nd overall) put a huge amount of effort into this event and have now been shafted by the competition where every other competitor received prizes each worth more than an entire division received together.


I know that the community has always had a general poor view of NEVERDIE however given the way in which prizes are handed out and the possibility that even if you place first in your division that you will receive nothing of value in exchange for your placing. As someone who had hoped after the issues of prizes in the previous Champions League that NEVERDIE would ensure a fair and equitable distribution of prizes this has happened again.

I will let you all make your own decisions on participating in any ROCKtropia events but I for one will likely be quitting Entropia Universe as I cannot have faith in a game where tournament winners are given the finger and told to suck it up when they get nothing after putting in the hard work.

Well, the rules of this competition stated that the prizes would be random among the winners. Everyone seems to complain that the same people get all the top prizes every time so this way there was a chance that the people who placed lower could get a good prize. What are the armor pieces btw and why are they worthless?

I wasnt able to participate this year due to travel and rl stuff so I havent kept up with news as much as i have in previous years.

The Medal you win is a lottery ticket you exchange through a 'npc' type interaction which then gives you your random prize?

How is ND to blame for something mind ark controls? (the randomness)

Players have the Option to take their medals to the Glory Hole in Tangerine and trade them for Mystery items. That may include MMOWC Armor, Rings and or Weapons. Rings and Full sets of Armor may possibly be traded in for upgraded versions at a later date.

Can somebody explain how the Glory Hole NPC works?
I mean, I can see everyone wins a different amount of NDC. Does the NPC take in all your NDC's or the same amount from everybody?

NDC is a currency outside of EU that currently has no value other than allowing you to 'invest' in funds however that investing requires you to also pay transfer fees etc.

NDC is a totally seperate thing, the top 3 in each category received a key to the glory hole the key was named after the catafory you where in and also the position you placed 1-3, inside the glory hike you clicked on a terminal and then received a random prize based on your catafory

So it seems the problem is--we don't know "how random" the random prizes were.
Looking at the results for different divisions I get an impression there might be either:

1. different sets of prizes available in each division, or maybe
2. the same prizes but differently weighed for each division (i.e. higher probability to win a gun for Elite), or
3. it's all the same and 100% random across all divisions and the results just happened to be the way they are.

The problem with the last one being (obviously)--the probability for that outcome, althou technically not exactly zero, is still extremely low.
Which seems to leave us with 1 or 2... (and possibly some 4th and 5th possibility I might have overlooked).

Well, hopefully we'll know more in the near future...

PP have to pay MA peds too add items in events.
And if you look at previous events ND seems to have a comfort lvl in how much he gambles on an event.

Obviously it the payouts looks as if he didnt do categorys at all and i think its by design

i still dont get why people have trust in ND...
he has shown more than once that he is not capable of running a planet. but the prices dont look random at all. and that the pro am wins the least and not being the lowest cat is kinda confusing. my guess is that ND just likes those gyus the least, hence the prices.

Any event where prizes are given randomly will always be subject to discussion. I think he did wrong by choosing this glory hole to distribute prizes. However his intention was good as I think the purpose was to allow the lower players to actually get something good. A better way to organize an event like this in the future would be to reward higher points to lower categories for a certain mob. Like a death drake will give 5 points in elite, 8 in pro am, 12 in,....

What I hate most about the events ND organizes is the info about it that is spread across 5 diferent websites. Makes it really hard to gather all the correct info needed for participants. Plus the fact that rules and prizes are subject to change even when the event is already going on.

Other than that I think he's doing a good job with the events but there sure is room for improvement.

Just saying random does not make it random. Do some analysis of who got what and it DOES NOT seem RANDOM.

Everyone in same cat got similar prize distribution. Is that Random, I think not.

The prizes were distributed category wise and then if it was not random, then it does not make sense to give the newbie category prize worth more then 2 categories above it.

There was nothing wrong that i see with the way the event was scored or held. There are hundreds of ways of doing something right, your suggestion makes sense too but so did his.

However, i have to say that i am thoroughly disappointed with the prize distribution.

MMOWC- The Massive Multiplayer Online World Championships.

The championship as nd claims is about seeing who is the best among the best in EU and one would expect to get rewarded accordingly. The way it was implemented seemed like a biased casino ( where it was defined which category will get what) and that does not resonate with what the event is supposed to be.

If anyone can show me a world championship where the second top scorer gets prize value below 3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th.... below all of them, I am ready to take back what i have said here.

In a few words, this was a poorly thought of implementation for prize distribution.

PS: I will also add this that i had before the event started applauded nd for doing what MA took away from people by giving them a format where everyone can feel like competing. Hence why this saddens me more to see an awesome effort leaving a bad taste due to such incompetence.

hmm i can understand the crys of some players . but kitty had the medal 3. place AM medal and had bad loot . so pls put the price down to AM . and dont know if neverdie or someone else like me like some people say . i talked only 3 or 4 times with neverdie and that only in the time of the mmowc . so i dont think i get a price becaus someone likes me . but i hate this price at the moment . i got arround 500 hate pms in last 20 hours and thx to all . the work in this mmowc , the fun i had and now i get flamed ingame becaus i got a good loot . thx to all that need to flame me ingame . have no more fun to play at the moment .

This about sums it up, well said Divinity.

The results don't appear to be random at all. Saying they will be random and not delivering on that is tantamount to fraud.

If he intended the prizes to be distributed randomly within a category and some categories getting poor prizes all together. That should have been made clear at start. Failure to state this in detail and stating something else instead again is fraudulent imho.

So whichever way you look at it, it appears to be fraud imho. With what another big player that left recently was saying about the game, doesn't bode to well for this game overall.

I in no way think it is acceptable to abuse someone who won an item and honestley I think anyone who placed in their divisions should have won. So Saski I dont think you have done anything wrong at all.

As far as talking to ND I attempted to do just that however I got little to no responses prior to posting this thread and following the posting of this thread any communication has been ignored completely.

A bit random or personal whatever makes sense is it guessikg since I came in second in the biggest cat and third price is ALOT better then my price (Though Im pretty sure its a personal choice from some involved party to give linzey less)

That is proven in many many cases.
Blaming someone who (as you mentioned) didn't gave any explanations so far, of what happened and what was he's obligation against MA (he's point of view!!!! in bottom line), isn't fair.

What happened happened, I'm very proud of my result I put everything into this event and I can't say any more, am i disappointed in the prizes well of course i am but i can't do anything about that it's just how it went down. here are the results as in the first post

ND is a selfish prick that does what he wants and that doesnt give a flying fuck about anyone but himself. everyone should know this by now...

1) is the issue with the "quality" of prizes received by pro-am competitors?

2) are the medals from each category the same? As in they pull from the same pool of random prizes?

3) it seems as though prizes were awarded to the top 3 participants in each division... perhaps players like Kaz who took 2nd overall should enter into a different/higher category next year?

I just don't understand what the problem is with the prizes i suppose, and that's why i need some help. If the prize awards were random, then it just seems like the pro-am winners shafted by RNGesus.. not ND. Personally, an event where I don't have to compete against the ubers, and can still win a prize worth 5k or more, sounds fan-fucking-tastic to me.

I suppose it's impossible to please everyone.

I believe the problem is that the players in cat Pro-AM - Highest Professional standing level 30 -79 only got Armour pieces, but Amateur - Highest Professional standing level 0 - 29 got a ring and Armour. The players did not know what they would get till handed in medal.

And to be perfectly fair this is how he stated it was to be from the very start. It seemed he wanted to keep things hanging loose and a "gamble and he was clear that it was unclear

This is it Linzy. I understand why Dunstone is pissed, when his cat had to spend a lot more, but feel they got shafted in prizes. No one knew what position got what prizes. If more knew that L0 to L30 had chance to win a ring (even it is only worth 5k) a lot more would of entered. I might even put a way the finder and dusted of a gun to give it ago. This is first time with cats and this style prize disputation, he will probably change format next time.
