I log into some peoples streams and log out again because I don't like the music, and I like a lot of different kinds of music, but I know its a personal thing. So, it got me to wondering...

1. How does one actually add music to your twitch stream?

2. How do you select what you will play, is it just what you like, or are you considering your audience?

The music you hear on twitch streams nearly 100% of the time is just the audio stream being picked up directly by OBS (as in it is exactly what they are hearing as well)

When I stream I usually try to give a lot of commentary to keep people's attention, so I tend to go with more low key music that I can still enjoy in the background but that I know won't distract me too much or deter me from commentating.

Video game soundtracks and electronic music is ideal for this, lyrical music gets distracting pretty quickly. If you aren't looking to give much or any commentary you can just listen to whatever you want, though.
