I am making this post to see if any of you have any thoughts about the Entropia Universe adding a new planet through the Planet Partners program. I personally am interested in having my gaming studio made up of myself and a few freelance workers start a new planet and I have already contacted to get more information about the process and what all needs to be done in order for my studio to start a planet in Entropia. Anyways I would just like to get everyone's thoughts about the idea. Thank you and I look forward to hearing all of your comments.
 
Like every "new" game it is all about the idea:
We have more planets than needed for the players actively playing EU. So this could only work if you come up with a great new idea that atracts new players. Looking at financial part this is the most important part as well due to profit sharing on other planets as well, if they started on your planet.

So: focus on early game with some great opertunities to make players stay in EU and you might suceed. I do not know if there are any restrictions from MA, but some advertising for your planet would be needed to make players rly start on your planet. There are to many games on the market that players would find yours without any advertising. You would need to offer smth that its worth to start on you planet. Missions to play for "free" for some time to get people to stay. Dont focus on profit here, focus on profit on players staying longtime and your share whereever they are in the universe.

I think this is one of the few concepts that may work and might be a big improvement for whole universe as well.

jk. If you are prepared for millions of dollars and 5+ years of development I welcome new planet or even a small moon :yay:

Hi, thank you for your comment. I agree with you that my studio would need to offer players "free" missions to get them to play and also I would need to do a lot of advertising which I believe Facebook and some MMORPG dedicated websites would be best to advertise on. Thank you for your comment. A small moon is also something that I have thought about as I don't believe it would cost as much to get started but then I don't know how it would work with the whole birthing of players and if it would even be possible for players to be born on a moon. Which then would limit the income of the moon to because we would not receive the share of the players money spent if the avatar cant be born on a moon. So that's why I am leaning more towards a planet but I am going to discuss this with the MA representative that I am in contact with about this project.

Many others have tried and not been successful in this endeavor... I don't know the nitty gritty details of the contract, but based on what some in forums have said over the years you need around TWO million dollars as a part of just being able to get your peepers on the contract...

Instead of starting from scratch, perhaps ask some of the existing partners, or dead planet owners for advice, etc. (someone really could buy Next Island and do something interesting with it potentially). Learn from the mistakes others have made! (there unfortunately is a LOT of folks that did make mistakes)

Also, if you don't mind working, etc. perhaps some of the other existing partners might be willing to take you under their wing to produce content for them. I know that Neverdie's had an internship type program for a few years on and off... I suspect some of the other PPs do similar type things, or perhaps can contract with smaller studios to make things for them, which could get you a foot in the door in to figuring out how this thing works under the hood.

It doesn't hurt to have big ideas from time to time, but it also doesn't hurt to just play the damn game...

Also, please don't do like that one guy in one of the above links did and go get something crowdsource funded only to later abandon the project! That type of crap builds you a horrible reputation, and destroys a lot of people's dreams and ultimately trashes those involved in the process in a lot of ways... (won't go in to more details here about that since it's likely that the mods will just delete it all anyways...) Too many people with big pipe dreams are doing that sort of junk all the time these days imho... The internet has made that type of pyramid scam easier to do now than it was possible to do 20 years ago.

Yes as far as I know the moon is still working. DME is very active on social networks and posting a lot of storylines. Their regular events are a big succes

And where is the idea itself? Or the idea is just to make a new planet.
 
I figure you will need about 5 mil in cash to develop / market / sustain while building up player base prior to even thinking of profiting. Maybe more, if you plan to do more extensive marketing.

If you have that sort of resources on hand, you may want to consider it seriously.

If not, I don't think it will be viable.

Just persue David Post to give you he's idea and he's IP's (if there are any now) or make him partner and develop Next Island in it full scale as it suppose to be.
We will be more than happy to see REAL Ancient Greece back to work and Ice Age finished among all other great things on this planet!
Anyhow it will be by far the BEST planet and idea in this universe if it works again ;)
MA im sure will be glad to get rid of it maintainance anyway.

agreed ,next island and greece was a nice planet..but it was doomed from day one bec of the different and unique loot ... if hit would be the same as caly or ark one...it would be 1 mill % better bec ppl also tend to stay longer then...

you dont need 3 pec crystals from a 3 ped mob where only 1 useless bp needs it...

if you dont design/plan the environment and think like a mid-size cycling player you wont succeed here...no matter which mopbs or landscape the planet has got

This is just the latest idea that he's come up with this year :) It'll probably do as well as the others have (not). But credit for trying and I'd echo the other posters comments about Next Island. It'd be great if someone took it over and developed it as it deserves to be developed. Though MA have done some things already, in particular introducing the missions.

I would disagree with those sentiments and I'm pretty sure it would be the wrong approach. The kind of "developer" you'd get for Next Island would just be a parasite i.e. there would be no focus or interest in getting new players external from EU.

The whole purpose of planet partners was to allow planet partners to concentrate on marketing and hence free up MindArk to concentrate on Coding. There can be no half measures in this, do or do not there is no try and so it is wrong of us to promote development of Next Island by a "dev" that isn't going to go the whole distance and spend considerable amounts on proper marketing.

If you do get a quality developer who is prepared to spend a lot of funds into marketing Next Island as well as developing it then yes I would agree that would be a good move. However, that kind of developer probably be more interested in making their own planet.
 
I would like to see development and cash injected into Cyrene, Toulon, Next Island, Monria and Rocktropia first. We don't need a new planet. A space VU bringing the game up to date with other big space MMOs is needed as well.
 
Hello, I have contacted NI and the owner told me he is interested in doing a partnership with me which I will be getting more details about this partnership next week when we talk about it more in depth. I don't know if I actually want to do a partnership but I'm going to talk with him to see what he is thinking of for the partnership and go from there. I have also contacted the owner of Monria asking if they would sell because I know a lot of you don't want anymore planets or moons and just want the current ones to be improved so I wanted to see if they would sell but they said no. So I will look at other options besides creating another planet. If any of you have ideas or know of any planets that need help and are looking for a partner company or for sale or something? Thank you and I look forward to your comments.

Sorry to put up red flags here but NI has been dead for years and no one really has heard from the owner or even if he still owns it. Many have guessed that MA now owns NI. So before you ask for money you really need to look into the game itself. I hope that I'm wrong but sorry you seemed to have made your first scam error.

And to add: Looking back at your post history I see that you have what seems to be other scams going on.

Rowe's Entropia Investment Fund (REIF)
Hi, my name is in real life Austin Rowe and in-game Austin tobeyrowe Rowe. I am establishing an investment fund in Entropia Universe known as Rowe's Entropia Investment Fund or REIF. This investment fund will pool everyones money together to purchase different investments including but not limited to land deeds, CLDs, and bank shares. I will be the manager of the fund but because it is your money that will be used to make this investment fund possible there will be the ability for everyone who has invested funds into the REIF to vote on whether or not I should invest in certain things and also whether or not to devest in something. I will have the control over the funds to invest in something but if its a high risk or high stake investment then I will take it to the investors and give everyone a certain period of time to vote and at the end of the voting the decision will be made whether or not for me to make the move to invest in the investment. This is a new investment fund so I do not have any statistics to show you of the funds success because there hasnt been any success in the fund yet but there also hasnt been failure since its brand new. But once you all start to invest and investments are purchased using the funds then I will post out to the public using Google Docs spreadsheets all of the REIF's holdings, investors, cash balance, total value of investments, and the amount each investor has in the fund. Also investors may invest as much as they would like as many times as they would like and dividends will be paid out each month. Also the fund manager (me) will recieve 25% of the profits earned through the investments. So if no money is made then I dont get paid and if money is made then I get paid the 25% of the profits and the other 75% is split out to all the investors according to how much each investor has in the fund. The Star Kingdoms economy is doing great considering our size and population. the king currently holds about 30 ounces of silver that is used as a reserve so if there is any financial problems at all the king can sell off the silver to pay off any financial situations. the unemployment rate is currently 0.00% and our current national debt is $0.00USD. Our currency is the Star Dollar and the symbol is $D and as of right now the Star Dollar is minted on wooden coins and will be printed on banknotes as soon as we get color ink for our printer as of 3/24/2015 we do not have the color ink for the printer but if you are interested in getting banknotes then please email the king so we can get color ink sooner. Not sure whether to continue this thread with attempted irony or serious comment...

If we look at a list of as yet unfulfilled promises by MA (or fairly uselessfully partially implemented), then the scale and cost to players to be part of any unfilled promise seems to be growing and growing.

From stables to statues and space to settlements (land plots), investing players have been left without properly functioning or developed systems. Whether you bought a statue for a bit of prestige or ComPet deeds as a bit of an investment, so far there has been zero delivered - and MA actively chose to market those! What a planet partner needs to do to get movement on one of their own stalled ideas is possibly in the range of doing three impossible things before breakfast.

Even functioning systems seem to have been screwed, such as local mining mats on Cyrene which have apparently not been dropping for months now, one of their tamable pets apparently not tamable, their oil rig never even got working in the first place, even when using MAs coding, a bugged mission chain which you have to abandon even if you were far along it in order to be able to play at all, etc etc.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if potential new money were able to even get a functioning cup of coffee out of MA these days... but maybe that is in the hands of friendly locals anyway ;).

In short, new planet ideas - why not? However, where to put them should not be in this particular universe as it is right now, maybe nowhere is the right place ...:(

MA has a long history of this, some won't remember the introduction of the banks / pawn brokers but when they were sold, not for small sum either, it took a full year before we saw any content in EU and one of those was abandoned and to my knowledge was never opened or claimed by the original purchaser.

Then you have the debacle with the deer mall shops, badly implemented shops with item point issues eventually taken back from the owners with a refund - reworked and offered back to the original purchaser but now with a 1000% inflated maintenance fee which they didn't mention as by now the other malls had been added which also had similar fees.

And that was before they thought up the PP system.

I'd be surprised if any serious development team would partner with MA at this point after whats happened with the other planet partners.
