Sorry if this is a rant.. but what is the point of skilling up, buying gear and learning how to best play the game competitively when the BEST #$#!ing WEAPON in the game is looted by chance from a strongbox?

How is this a 'skill based' game when there is NO SKILL required to open a box?

Remember when someone looted a full set of Protector of the Empire armor by looting a single red banana in a shared loot event?

I do.

These things happen sometimes Hijacker - relax. :)

Yeah but PotE is nowhere near the best gear in game. Nothing against the looter and I'm happy for him but MA has always said this game is not gambling... but this sure as hell looks like lottery to me.

You can gamble on 2 snails on a marked piece of cardboard if you so choose.

Entropia isn't about gambling but people will always find a way to place a wager.

Someone once bet that I couldn't drink a full bottle of vinegar. Easiest $10 I ever made.
;)

I don't think hijacker's point is that you can gamble. It's that there's no point in playing unless you gamble.

Look at all the fun stuff you can loot from boxes! Amps, pills, weapons, etc, etc. What can you loot from the Hween mobs themselves? Shrapnel, Oils, and boxes.

Hope you're all looking forward to Christmas boxes :girl:

I'm wondering if the OP would have made the thread if he had won the item?

As a person who loved this game because of the dream of grinding up skills for fun and the dream that someday they would allow me to profit somehow, I must say I'm a little disappointed I don't get any skills for opening boxes, thus no boxes for me for some time now.

what about skill pills

His point was this game is PURELY a casino now. No skill required to be able to get the best item in the game. Just your money and an ability to open a box. He is correct this is no longer a skill based game, it is a CASINO.

If you want to run a CASINO MindArk, you better start applying for a gambling license. This shit wont last much longer while you keep calling this "skill based" :wise:

And if they run some event where the chances of winning are skill-based, they are accused of making it pay-to-win (because you can buy skills or acquiring them takes nothing but money over time). Seems impossible to please everyone, or do some even argue both sides depending on the season's menu? Instead of huffing and puffing about what MA should or should not do (they know their legal shit or they would already not exist anymore), adapt your own view what you consider an "investment". Herein lies most people's problem.

If its not a box it will be a Linzey or your awesome soc mates . Then a normal mid level players like me will ask again why ubers get best items . And if i loot it in level 2 instance then ya all will cry that noob loot it

So how exact you want to be looted ? Choose

So when my old disciple Dub "looted" the best weapon in the game more than 10 years ago I don't remember anyone having a fit because he got it from making a video with McCormick...where exactly was the ingame "skill" required there?

What exactly is the difference now? Is it because you personally didn't loot it, because this thread never appeared before the loot and everyone knew what the stats were.

The problem isn't the type of items that are looted, but how MA decided to handle events to cater to the single best weapons in the game. I've always thought it makes no sense considering no matter how much money you have it's all about who gets the best weapon first with the limited number available.

There is only one Terminator just like there is now only one dagger. It's ridiculous because it's basically an "I win" button for events unless MA changes how they run them. Don't hate the item, hate the game. :)

Just be happy for the person that open the box that had the dagger. He/she doesn't look to be an uber or anything like that, just an average player who managed to get lucky.

I hope the person decides to keep the dagger and it entices him/her to skill up to can use it properly.
Maybe they will be in the top 10 in a future event!

Ah yes, the KEY to having a good christmas

I'm sorry this game behaves this way. It was always a gamble but not to this extent. In about a month, it'll be fifteen years since I first set foot inside this game. There have been ups and downs and many changes. This lootboxing is certainly a dreadful change. I liked the boxing ring better. Yet I suspect the game will live on.

Any stats of the dagger?
Like the skillreq cos if its over 90+ there is only one winner in this "loot"
Unsellable, unuseable unless you want to spend like 200k on skills or you can sell it to Helena for what iam sure is a below even decent offer.

lol

i'm lvl 73 and to make lvl 85 need 5000USD for 12 lvls so for lvl 95 u need 10 times more than 200k ped:)))PEACE that item is useless

I would say: Take it to the next level...

Put boxes in them boxes! :dunce:

I agree, I'm sure there are quite a good number of hunters that can use this dagger.

This is higher than the eff on the imp mk II yeah?

Momentum? I guess I play because not playing would be too sad :)) Can say I was pleased to loot the past few days 1 Spirit Mk I (L) and 1 heal chip V L. Back in the day (sometime in the past, can't say anyone was ever 100% pleased with the loot, not even before vu 8) that would have been a normal run, nowadays I feel pleased for the whole week with 2 almost worthless in mu items :)

Honestly, it's a mood thing, when I feel like playing, I play. Maybe depo, maybe not. No one is forcing me to do it.

The point of playing is to have fun. The idea of making a profit from this game and having fun for a long period of time is IMO gone. You either grind the auction and maybe a bugged mob or something for profit or you have fun (don't ask me what fun is).

Play for fun, or better yet, play for profits

The dagger is far from the best item in the game. The fact that it's melee kind of blows since it eliminates or makes son mob choices very difficult..

Further, the dagger has higher decay than the imk2, it just uses less ammo. It's hardly the best item in the game and will likely fetch a price of 45-50k depending on whether MA allows the mod 8 amp on it.

If you can remember, MA forbid the mod 8 on the imp mako because it would break the eco safeguard. Similar to no RDI amps on the imk2

I told the owner to ask MA of the mod 8 will fit on it. If so it might be the best item in game, if not he'll be lucky to get 40-45k for it.

Your sure your not mixing it up with dmg?
Joker whos 100+ in lb and 135+ in laser is only 67 hit.
Smilgs have some pics where hes lvl 180 with 101 in avarage combat but only lvl 63 in hit knifefigther.
Star was lvl 170 and 100+ avarage and only 67 in hit.

Iam lvl 130 and have skilled lb before too but that only brougth me to lvl 47 so for me to max that one i would need to have over 12500 in shortblade

Hasn't the need for an eco safeguard now been removed with the advent of loot 2.0? Or is the quality of loot effect endangered if you can kill a huskk for a ped? Would you loot a thousand boxes?

Ah, yes, that was what this thread was really about, what is the point of skilling?
Well, to get mu you don't have to open boxes, you can loot them and take what the market offers. In that respect there is no absolute change as such if higher skills loots you more boxes (or gives you more opportunities to).
Loot 2.0 mechanics seems to have changed the tt returns of some players who were over the top, yes, but that is not the boxes issue.
It doesn't change my dislike of boxes, however, including that they are not auctionable. I assume the market value has dropped now too after the 'jackpot event'.

It's worst possible average dpp is 3.52 (if it has the maximum decay for "good" decay). Imk2 is 3.28. The decay doesn't matter, it's tt in, tt out. It has more dps than the Terminator.

Also, everyone skilled to 100 to use their ranged weapons, no reason it can't be done with a shortblade.

Best... for now.

Besides... Armatrix.

Oh, and also, I totally called that Halloween night loot. They HAD to drop it on Halloween.
